I still love the Henna Shoppe and I wish I had more loyalty when it comes to beauty type services, i tend to jump around, but this has got to be my true and tried spot since I moved to Arizona 12 years ago and worked at the Starbucks across the street of it's first ever location, that couldn't have been more than 100 sqft. Great little shop for trinket items. They do have a great selection of clothing at a very affordable price - Very flowy, bright, patterns, great summery stuff. I have yet to get Henna, but really should one of these days! I really just go to get my eyebrows threaded. I find it to look the cleanest, irritates my skin the least of all methods and lasts the longest. At $12 I don't think I could really beat the price point either! Sadly, they will be moving from this location soon to Fashion Square. I am sad, but they have lots of locations at the valley and I will follow wherever they go (almost!) read more

I love this place and the people that run it! Such a blessing meeting the woman who did my henna. She was so sweet! She was accommodating to my request and did it without ANY hesitation or questions. First off: I've been coming to this shop since I went to ASU almost 4 years ago now and they do the best eyebrow threading. They also always have sales going on for different things in the store so there's always something to look at. The owner of the shop is the best part! She is so sweet and has remembered me, my dog & my boyfriend every time since I started coming. I have since moved to the west side of Phoenix but still insist on going back to mill ave in Tempe to get my eyebrows done and catch up with the owner. Went into the store today with my boyfriend because what was in the windows caught my attention. Ashley let us know about the sale on jewelry which got us even more interested. She proceeded to follow us and tell us about the sale again not even 5 minutes later. She then followed with "congratulations" when I asked her what she meant she looked at me confused and said "you're pregnant?" I dropped what was in my hands and left in tears. I have never experienced such terrible service anywhere in my life. My boyfriend went back in to complain to whoever was in charge, but I cannot believe she had the nerve to comment on my appearance in the first place. Incredibly unprofessional. read more

Cute shop! Loved the music playing and they've got neat merchandise. I came to get my brows threaded and there were a few ladies waiting to get henna done and another woman who wanted threading. My wait was about 15 min as Sima estimated for me and I used the time to peruse the shop. Once it was my turn, Sima was as pleasant as can be considering how busy she was. I didn't feel rushed; on the contrary I felt appreciated and welcome. Brows are $10 and worth the service I received. I was able to sign up for their rewards program and I received discounts for my future visits, which is cool. Tip: park in the City Hall parking garage as it is free for the first hour and it's nearby. I will be back! read more

Pros: Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Everyone is amazed at the way my henna tattoo arm sleeve came out. The color on my arm is so rich and deep (the arms don't usually take color this well). That means the mixture or the technique they use is spot on. Everywhere I go, I get compliments on my henna design. I'm so happy I took the time to get one. I will definitely be back! This shop has been my favorite place to buy gifts and receive from for several years. Yesterday I went into this store with a friend and proceeded to pick up a singing bowl and I gently tapped 3 times on the bowl with the suede covered baton for sound quality (I have several at home so I know how to handle them). I was considering adding to my collection when I was approached by an elderly hipster wanna be with a full grey beard, skinny dress pants, male worker who aggressively told me "PER CORPORATE you do not need to do that, YOU ARE GOING TO DENT THE BOWL we use these every morning and night to cleans all crystals touched by everyone". Say no more. We left with out purchasing anything. Not only was I taken back by his approach, but embarrassed and offended. This person was clearly not a spiritual worker. Not because of his appearance, but by his approach and demeanor. If "Corporate" don't want the bowls or anything touched or handled, they should put a sign up saying so. My friend witnessed this, she and I will let everyone know how we were treated. With all the options available such as, on line shopping and great service at Black Market Minerals offers, you'd think "Corporate" would be more in tuned with who their consumers are. My friends, family, and spiritual community are going to be asked to NOT consider this place for our spiritual needs. We have too many other options. Neelam, the owner, did my henna for my hindu wedding in May as well as for all of my female wedding guests (roughly 35 women). When we scheduled the appointment, we advised that we would only require about 4 hours of her because we were not expecting anyone to get elaborate henna. However, upon seeing the beautiful work that Neelam does, I was the one who wanted the most elaborate and detailed henna imaginable. We ended up needing Neelam for about 7 hours that day, although it was nearly twice the amount of time we requested, she stayed and completed everyone's henna without any fuss. She is an amazing woman to work with - so friendly, talented, and quick. For the less detailed henna designs, she was taking 5 minutes or less. As a bonus, Neelam came to our house where the event was being held that day. I highly recommend you go see Sri! I've been getting my eyebrows threaded here for at least 4 months and Sri does an amazing job at making my eyebrows look great. Someone at another business had made them too thin and Sri got them back in tip top shape after a few visits and has been keeping them up ever since! I always feel like a new woman when I leave. I call before I go every time to make sure she's there, and it's paid off because she wasn't there a couple of times and so I knew to come the next day. I know to park on the street, or I'll even go in the parking lot right next to it since it only takes a few minutes for her to work her magic. Awesome little place off Mill Ave. My daughter got some threading done. It was her first time getting that done (threading), and it was better than waxing. I've been a consistent customer for some time now (only having the manager touch my eyebrows),but, started over doing my brows. She was very efficient when I first started working on them and as time went on, my brows ended up getting thinner and thinner. Hello all, I go to The Henna Shoppe quite often and Neelam is an awesome lady. I've gotten many henna tattoos there and even when I come with something challenging, I have not been dissatisfied with a visit yet. You can also buy clothes and jewelry and get your eyebrows threaded there. If I were to trust anyone with being that close to my eyebrows, I would trust Neelam. The parking is a little difficult sometimes but there's plenty of public transportation to get you there or you can stroll through downtown Tempe. The shop is always neat and tidy.
