I recently came here for Valentine's Day. It was easy getting a reservation as they weren't booked up surprisingly & I managed to get an 8:30pm resy the day before vday. I was very happy I chose this place for vday because everything was great & wasn't prefix since it was vday. Everything came out fast & our waiter was super nice & attentive. (I forgot his name, Wah!) I started with a white cosmo which was so delicious, I had 2! My husband & I did our usual oysters, blue points for an app which were good & stuck to our usual steak entrees because it is a steak house & everything was great. Especially the mash potatoes which were an additional side. I definitely would recommend this place if you're in a mood for a good steak or a romantic date night. Also, they are kid friendly as I had my 2 babies with me & there was plenty of space for strollers. I definitely didn't feel awkward fine dining with 2 kids. A well deserved 5 star Tavern. Hendrick's Tavern is a very systematic restaurant with an organized flow of service. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a welcoming team of hostess / host. If for whatever reason your table or party is not ready to be seated... lucky you! You can grab a drink at the bar and hang out in their cozy lounge. Since I came here with a group of friends, I got to try a lot of items from the menu. I must say, the Sautéed Mushroom is a must try. The Go Figure (Bourbon Cocktail) and Pumpkin Smash (Bourbon Cocktail) are very unique and delicious. I love how each steak essentially includes a bulb of roasted garlic for you spread on to meat. Had a great first time experience and would love to come back again in the future. Note, menu items are on the pricier side and cuts / quality of meat is acceptable. read more

We sat in the back bar and ordered drinks and apps. Started with a Kobe beef hot dog as well as the zucchini chips. Both delicious. We had a great old fashioned , a just peachy which was one of the fave drinks of the evening as well as a white cosmo also was enjoyed. Highly recommend a reservation here. Place gets busy . We come to Hendricks every few months and always have a pleasant experience. Tonight was also great - they have a beautiful outdoor seating section we got to enjoy. We ordered the robiola pizza, Mediterranean salad, oysters, Cajun tomahawk rib eye, bone marrow, mashed potatoes, corn, cheesecake & chocolate cloud! The menu is straightforward, ample choices of starters, mains and desserts. The dining area where we sat was interesting as one might expect from a historic building (e.g., it was either freezing or too hot). It was a veranda of sorts - must be hard to keep a comfortable temperature in Winter or Summer. We started with incredible salads/starters: Kale with a nice hint of mint, Caesar salad, grilled octopus and tuna poke (served in martini glass, why? Cheesy). For mains, we stayed mostly fishy: the halibut, seabass, salmon - and a skirt steak cooked perfectly. All done pretty well. For kicks, we added the zucchini/eggplant chips and hash browns. I couldn't stop eating the crunchy hash browns which seem to be crisped and turned upside down on a hot cast iron. The cheesecake for dessert was great. Coconut cake meh, and the brownie was great. We have been meaning to come here for quite some time. Our daughter's school is nearby and we have always been meaning to come especially for the outdoor seating which is visible from the street. During the height of covid, we were always looking for outdoor seating. As it turns out our trip would have to wait until last night. We are sorry we waited so long to come. While running some errands in the area, my wife asked if I might take a break from chores and we could pick our little girl and have a night out for dinner. I saw an opportunity in our combined schedules and we got some rezzies for 5:30. Upon entering we were promptly seated and asked whether we would like a booth or a table. Opting for a booth was a good choice. Chip, our waiter came straight away and offered us drinks. He saw the importance of getting our daughter some juice and her food order in right away so her parents could enjoy their drinks and meals as well. He told us about the specials for the evening and my wife was sold on the lemon sole meal. First though, we ordered the bone marrow and the French onion soup. The Bone Marrow was EXCELLENT and the soup was a close second. I actually asked our server if this was an everyday size for the bone marrow app. He assured me it was and I exclaimed that it was simply the best appetizer we have eaten in many years. Large and delicious- it really was a show stopper. Before last night, the best French Onion Soup I had ever eaten was out of the country by people who take pride in their work. Last night's was equal or better. As a main course, I chose the Short Ribs for the continuation of a feel-good, warm-your-insides kind of meal. Excellent as well. We noticed that their were some patrons coming from work who planned a sort of holiday gathering and were all members of a Fire Rescue squad. I asked our server to offer them drinks if they were off-duty or desserts if they were working since we really appreciate the services they offer and their calling to serve the community. I only bring it up, not to make me feel good, but to point out that the restaurant loved our caring for our community service members so much that as a thank you to us, they bought US desserts. That truly was a first-class move on Hendrick's part. A word about our waiter, Chip- what an awesome gentleman and excellent at his craft. Checking on us just often enough, and a truly nice conversationalist, he was a pleasant addition to our meal. Hendrick's is very lucky to have him on their team. Haven't been to a steakhouse in the longest time and glad I chose to go to Hendricks! Upscale tavern vibes with both ample booth and table seating as well as a boisterous bar. We were early for our reservation and they seated us immediately. We got started off with the eggplant and zucchini chips and bone marrow for apps. Bone marrow was delicious. Surf and turf and melt in your mouth braised short rib were delicious. Wait staff constantly helped clean up table as our dishes finished and were very attentive, friendly, and informative. Well here I go. We went to Hendricks for probably the 4th or 5th time and honestly, it's gotten pretty bad. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but the service....sheesh. We had a 7pm reservation. They asked us if we wanted inside or out, so we said inside because humidity and my hair don't mix. Well, there was about a 15 minute wait and they told us to go to the bar. There wasn't a seat left at the bar so we moved ourselves to the funeral home looking seating area (was Hendricks a funeral home at some point?) We sit down and finally one of the hostesses chases after one of us to get us to our table. Ok. We go to our table and they assume we want sparkling water so that's what they bring. Ok. I hate sparkling water but I'll be a good sport. Waiter comes over and tells us if he yells he doesn't mean it. I said, "what? What did he say?" I couldn't hear 2 feet from my ears. That room is very loud!Regardless, he told us the specials which we only half heard and yelled them out to each other. He came back to take our order and took the men's orders first...ok, no big deal. As soon as he walked away, a busboy came and took our bread plates away. The bread basket was still full! Our appetizers come and they're good. No complaints. Maybe 10 minutes in, another busboy comes and starts taking plates away. Ok. We figured we have to speed up our eating otherwise we will be losing food to the busboys! Dinner comes and maybe another 10 minutes in, with food still on the plates, 2 busboys come and start taking plates away. Cmon. Really? I went to the bathroom and the dessert menu was at my seat waiting for me. I didnt really want dessert but I ordered a cloud cake and another person in our group ordered a cinnamon bun. The cloud cake is a glorified ding dong and the cinnamon bun is a Cinnabon. Cappuccinos were too hot to drink so we paced ourselves and of course, you guessed it. The waiter dropped the bill off while we were still eating. We head out to the valet and the line was 20 minutes long. I think we waited longer for the valet than we spent time eating. We came here on Sunday 2/16 for brunch. We started with cocktails at the bar, which were good. No complaints here. We were seated at our table timely and all was going well until the ceiling started leaking water right on top of us (and in particular me). I had to put the menu in front of me to block the water. We called over a waiter and his initial resolution was for us to simply move our chairs closer together so that there was no chair under the water leak. Of course, this made our table for 6 feel more like a table for 4 since we were now all squished together. Admittedly, not long after, someone who I presume to be the manger, noticed and moved us to a different table. Upon sitting down at the new table, one of the forks on the table was dirty (had some dried old food on it). They replaced the fork when I pointed this out. Generally the food was good and we ultimately had a good time, and even stayed a bit longer after for some additional cocktails - but at the price point of this restaurant, you'd expect not to have to deal with these things. Not that we required it, or requested it, but I'll add that they did not compensate us at all for any of these issues. I would give 3.5 stars if I could b/c the food was good, but 4 stars is a "good" experience all around (per yelp guidelines) and I would not qualify our experience as "good" this time. Prior to that, ordered a ceaser salad, to share with my friend, and clearly stated NO anchovies. You guessed it, received with anchovies. Did Romaine increase in price that much that we received essentially a handful of lettuce? Ordered a porterhouse for two and asked for medium rare. Yes again, most of it was medium and was quite the small order. Either of us could eaten the entire portion. Have previously eaten here and would never of thought this would occur. There were other issues such as they no longer serve bread without asking and general inattentiveness of the wait staff. Previous experiences, they are on top of every detail. Well, not this time. This past Saturday evening, my wife, friend and I were heading to the NYC Winter Festival of Lights at the grounds of the Nassau County Museum of Art just under a mile away from Hendrick's Tavern, (btw, this Festival of Lights was very disappointing, but that's a different review). So earlier I decided to make a reservation at Hendrick's Tavern for 1800 hours that Saturday evening, and it was fortuitous that I did, it was completely booked (it's always a very positive start when a restaurant is full and doesn't have any further openings) but fortunately for us someone canceled and I was able to garner the 1800 hour slot. We arrived a bit late, around 1810. We were greeted outside by the friendly valet guys: Javier, Miguel & Luis. Inside we were greeted by the host Jaime, he was cordial, he took us to our table, next to a beautiful view towards their garden. As soon as we sat down Joel came over to offer us drinks, my wife and friend opted for non-alcoholic drinks, but since I wasn't driving I decided to get a cocktail: Spicy Passion Margarita. It was fantastic! It contained the right amount of spiciness, passion fruit and liquor. Chip (our server) stopped by to take our orders. He's a personable, amiable and knowledgeable young man. For appetizer my wife ordered Roasted Bone Marrow. It came with thin slices of perfectly toasted garlic bread. The bone marrow was succulent and tasty. For the main dish she opted for Cornish Hen with Spinach, I got the Branzino with sauteed Spinach and Mushrooms, as well as a side order of Truffle Fries. My wife's Cornish Hen looked so gorgeous, golden brown and so crispy on the outside and yet surprisingly tender inside, full of flavor. My whole Branzino was expertly deboned, crispy mouthwatering skin and succulent flavorful meat. Our Spinach and Mushrooms were superbly sauteed with the right balance of garlic and salt. My Truffle Fries had true Truffles, were most places gives you a bit of Truffle flakes, Hendrick's Tavern smothers it in pure Truffles. It was a highlight! Too bad this fantastic restaurant is located in Long Island, over 90 minutes from us, if it were much closer we would eat there every weekend! read more

We celebrated a friends birthday on a Saturday night, with a table of 10. The place was packed and we had to wait for all guests in our party to arrive before we were able to be seated. We ordered drinks from the bar, and moved into this lounge type room that was adjacent. It was great to be able to move into that room as the bar is a high traffic area with incoming and leaving guests. Once we were seated (upstairs), we were greeted and drink orders taken. We also ordered a handful of apps which included calamari, bone marrow, margarita pizza, grilled octopus, Burrata and two different salads. Everything was delicious, no complaints. For dinner, must ordered the filet mignon, which was a choice of either 8oz or 12oz. This was a really nice option to elect a bigger portion. There were also two tomahawk steaks, a branzino and shrimp tempura that others had ordered. There was again no complaints, everything was cooked to the correct temperatures. We also ordered a handful of sides to share, which included spinach, asparagus, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts and my favorite, the hash browns. Some of our party also ordered dessert, and if I wasn't so full I would have had the Sticky Bun. It was pretty much a cinnamon roll, and it was warm and smelled great. read more

Unpleasant, drive-thru quality experience I dined with a few friends for an early dinner (with reservations). The sum of our experience was that the server and supporting staff rushed us through dinner from the moment we sat down. Perhaps they were attempting to be efficient, however, they tried to remove dessert before we were finished, gave us the bill before we were finished eating, pressured us to see if we paid the bill within 2 minutes of presenting it, pushed us to get our order within the first few minutes of being seated, and walked away, while we were midsentence speaking to the server. EVERY interaction was rushed, disruptive and sterile. Let me be clear, we were by no means having a drawn out dinner. We did not wait several minutes to order. (And if we did, so what?) The server shoved himself down our throats and was not personable or warm or inviting. He'd ask us a question-something that moved us along in the dinner process-and walk away before we finished our responses. It was very off-putting. All in all, We had drinks, appetizers, dinner, dessert, and coffee all easily within two hours. The entire experience felt like a transaction and not a welcoming invitation. A complete assembly line operation. I have been in the restaurant business (server) myself for over 20 years, therefore, I am very well-versed in the ins and outs of a busy Friday night, and waitlist management, but more importantly, I understand how to treat a guest. How to interact with them, and yet still be extremely attentive and efficient. I understand the importance of flipping tables. But not at the expense of a normal, reasonable dining experience time. This restaurant failed miserably. Their service was more suitable for a drive-through window. Or grab and go. The floor manager? Walked the restaurant like a prison guard. While I think it's extraordinarily important for management to be hands-on, eyes on, and available to assist, support and engage their guests, his presence only added to the get the fuck out feeling we received from the server. He never came by and said hello yet At one time he immediately cleaned all of our plates from the table just moments after we put our forks down. Water and all. Not in a way to make us more comfortable and table cleaner but in the "you have nothing on your table so leave" way. We even took your water. Oh, and the food? The calamari was bland and rubbery. And the food was absolutely forgettable. It also lacked creativity. Grasping for a 6 out of ten. Reaching for a six with fingertips. I got the sense that this restaurant is feeling a little full of themselves with a packed lobby and full restaurant, however, the reality of it is I've had much better, and probably in the same neighborhood. On that same block. This week. This is just another LI restaurant that would falter and fizzle in a place like Manhattan where restaurants maintain high standards, stellar staff and excellent food. Definitely make reservations if you plan to come for any holidays or special occasion, because they will get very busy. The whole restaurant was surprisingly so spacious and was decorated so nicely. When you enter, there is a full bar and a nice waiting area if your whole party isn't here yet. It felt very homey yet upscale. Although the place was packed, the service was decent and everything came relatively quick. The menu had a wide variety of dishes, and it was great that my group wanted to try a little bit of everything. All the apps were delicious! A few notable ones for me would be the zucchini and eggplant chips, lobster truffle mac & cheese, fried calamari, and the oysters. All, except the chips, were seafood apps and they were all very fresh. The chips were fried perfectly and the dip that came with it added the perfect amount of flavor. All of the different cuts of steak came with a whole bulb of roasted garlic, which was great to put all over the meat. We all tried different cuts and some were better than the others. Although the meat was cooked to what we requested, the outside was a bit too charred and some lacked flavor. At least there were sauces that came with it to enhance the meal. That being said you expect the quality of the food and service to be good ... better yet great. The drinks were good until I ordered the white cosmo. The garnish itself took up half the drink, again Hendrick's prices are already city prices so I asked for the garnish to be removed and for my drink to be topped off but the server refused. (I wish I took a picture of this, so you could all see what I'm talking about.) Now the most important part of dinner, the actual food. The beef tartare which I've had multiples times here tasted straight up like spicy mustard -____-. The baked clams were burnt and I felt like I was chewing on rubber bands. Then for my entree, I ordered the Bronzino, which was "filleted" in the kitchen. The plate itself didn't have a clean presentation but I digress. Every bite I took out of that fish had fish bones. Jill's Bridal shower! We were seated in a private room overlooking the patio. Just enough space for two large tables and intimate lunch for my dear friend for her bridal shower. This was an over the top meal! My hubby and I wanted to go somewhere special for our anniversary. I wanted to try a place I have never been before. He's been here a handful of times and always had great meals so I was excited! We really splurged on this meal--- the cocktail, Mango & Cash was delicious with a kick of spice on the salt rim. We tried the zucchini and eggplant chips and Kobe beef hot dog for appetizer. Wow! Just so flavorful and filling! We couldn't finish it all and ended up bringing some home. My family has been coming here for ages and i'm wondering why i haven't. I came for the first time a couple nights ago with some girlfriends and I will absolutely be back. We had a reservation at 9pm and were seated promptly at a large booth in the corner of the main room (love a good booth) the restaurant was dimly lit and decorated for the holidays with gorgeous wreaths and holly. the food was delicious, i think the creamed spinach was the best i've ever had. the sirloin we ordered had a delicious flavor, although all my friends enjoy medium well so it was a bit too cooked for my liking as i usually order medium rare, but the flavor was still delicious. we ordered zucchini chips which came with a garlic dip that was out of this world. the french onion soup was perfectly rich, the bread was nice and thick and the cheese was perfectly stringy. the drinks were delicious, i got an extra dirty martini with hendricks gin and it was one of the better ones i've had. the only thing that wasn't phenomenal was the service, it felt very rushed and impersonal, the waiter seemed bothered by our menu questions and just not so friendly. dessert was yummy, we ordered a warm chocolate cake with ice cream and the coconut cake. the chocolate dessert was delicious. we also got an espresso martini split into shot glasses so we could share it, it was very tasty and heavy on the espresso. a lovely dinner and will definitely be returning soon. read more

Absolutely enjoyed our anniversary under the lights and stars at Hendrick's Tavern this weekend. It was a beautiful evening outdoor dining and the service there is amazing. When you pull up there is a valet, the hostess is right around the corner, you can dine in or out. Once seated we got our water and bread quickly and were able to put in a cocktail order. I really enjoyed the Peartini (very strong be careful! Lol). For an appetizer we got the Kobe hot dog puffs which were pretty good. It came with ketchup and mustard. Really nice ambiance and outdoor seating. The interior was beautiful as well. Their Brownie sundae was delicious and I think those were my favorite things about this place. Oh and the drinks + truffle fries - they were good too! It's at a really bad intersection (I used to live in this area) so I know how hectic it can be and how fast those cars can go. And I think the service was a bit slow, even though there were 5-10 servers outside (including our own) prepping for dinner time/happy hour. The food was kind of disappointing... we went during lunch and still somehow ended up dropping $65pp+ and it bothers me because of the flavor - or lack of it! I know my friends didn't enjoy their meals that much, but for me - it's hard to mess up a lobster roll! The serving of lobster was nice, but there was barely any mayo on it. It was really bland and I think a little extra mayo on the sandwich would've gone a long way... Lobster rolls at Fairway are cheaper and tastier than this one. This place had some cool sauces and even a chipotle mayo - that would taste amazing on this sandwich if not regular mayo. read more
