Recently, I learned that Mini Cooper is going to stop production of real manual transmission cars ( clutch on the floor, 6 speed, not those paddle shifter things). Devastated, I decided to take action, despite already owning a 2009 two door hardtop S, 6 speed manual...my baby. Mine is in excellent condition and has extremely low miles ( my commute to work has averaged 3 miles for the past 15 years). I've been wanting a 4 door hardtop S, 6 speed, but having an awesome car already, I'd not changed out. Due to the news, I notified my friendly staff at Hendrick BMW on independence Bv that I'd like to find one in the Resolute edition. Prices have gone up too much, so minus 1 star for that. JEFF SHINN has been my salesman for 3.5 cars ( long ago, BMW guys weren't allowed to sell Minis....BYRAN ARMBRYSTER sold me my 2 door Mini in 2009 when Jeff passed me to him , a newbie at the time). Still friends to this day with all of these folks! Jeff mainly sells BMWs, so FORREST HOLSTON stepped up to help me find the exact Mini Resolute I wanted. A.J SNYDER also assisted at a supervisory level since the car was produced, but not yet in country. I was still trying to confirm Mini's decision to stop production of real manuals after 2024, so I did not act immediately. However, once I did confirm, I contacted the crew and said.. "GO get our girl!" (**SEX AND THE CITY reference intended...if you know, ya know!) . The car had landed at a non Hendrick dealership in Raleigh with an interested party. I pre-qualified for my loan, and JEFF, FORREST AJ, and management staff worked their magic. Tuesday after Christmas, after my shift, I was at the dealership in a heavy, dark downpour, picking up my new car. SHARATH NAIR has assisted me with my finance and warranty needs. Sleezy. Disingenuous. Sloppy. Dismissive. These are words coming from a NEW YORKER. Simple recount...after moving here 7 days ago, my husband and I went in to get a car. We stated, very clearly, the model, $ we'd be putting down and what we could MAX afford for our monthly payments. We did not care if it was a lease or a purchase, just as long as the above 3 criteria were met. They tried to trick us the first visit and say the car was ok until we got to signing where the price was way off. They said for us to look at the website and then we'd reconvene. I came to Hendrick Mini with concerns about my timing chain tensioner, they did diagnostics and said it was fine but I had 3 oil leaks, a $2100 repair. After purchasing the belt tensioner myself and having a well reputable mechanic in Lake Norman take a look for a second opinion we we're shocked to find that Hendrick had not put the tensioner back in tight, we could unscrew with our fingers, very displeased. Car leaked oil due to this not being done properly. Anywho had properly repaired for $1100, with a 24,000 mile warranty at MB Mercedes BMW in Huntersville, NC. Now runs like new, makes me wonder if this was done to create revenue so I'd come back for another repair. Needless to say I won't go back due to this shady stuff and double the price to repair. read more

I bought a new MINI Cooper S Hardtop here in 2009. I liked the cool, offbeat, closeknit vibe the store and brand encouraged. The car was not a great car, but I was in love with driving it, and put a lot of money into maintaining it. I had virtually all of the maintenance and repair work done at this store for seven years. Even though the brand and local store had evolved to suit a more mainstream clientele, in 2017 I traded the 2009 S for a certified preowned 2015 S. Again, I had all service performed at the MINI store. It's my fault that I did not ask about the repair record on the 2015 MINI before purchasing it. It is also my failure for believing I could trust an establishment where I had faithfully traded for seven years to level with me. I did not ask and they did not tell. So, I experienced some difficulties with the clutch over time and eventually took the car back to the dealership. They kept it several days and then called to advise they had to replace the engine, under warranty. I was told the problem was related to a faulty crank shaft bearing. The problem had been worked on at about 5000 miles, well before I bought the car. After two or three weeks they returned my car, and that was that, at least a far as they were concerned. Legally, they met their obligation. Ethically, I'm not so sure. They did not have to inform me that the car had undergone a significant engine repair. But they could have, and I argue, they should have, especially to a long-term, loyal customer. If they had fully disclosed, I would not have bought the car. As my previous MINI required continuous and significant repairs throughout the time I owned it, I did not want to keep the 2015 outside of warranty, especially when I was told by an employee the engine replacement would have cost me about $8000.00 outside of warranty. In any event, I traded for another brand at another dealership as I am done with this dealership and with the MINI brand. BTW, the experience at MINI actually deserves less than one star! read more

After another troublesome time with my old 2007 MINI, her engine died. So, Hendrick MINI was there to help me. They really went over the top this time. I got a temporary Cooper S for the couple of days my car was in the shop and then, three days later, when they found out the engine was busted, they helped me in trying to decide what to do. After punching the numbers, it wasn't going to be worth replacing the engine so Bryan A (one of the Motoring Advisors) helped appraise my MINI and put together numbers so I could afford to purchase a new one. Everyone at MINI was incredibly helpful. The manager was so helpful and did everything he could to keep my payment in the affordable range and guide me to making the right choice on down payments/insurances. I truly felt like they cared more about me than securing a sale or shoving me out the door. And on top of EXCELLENT service at an EXCELLENT location, my 2011 MINI Cooper S is such a fantastic car. Sidenote: There are seriously three Coopers in my neighborhood with the exact same color scheme as mine. So much for individuality. When I first purchased my car I would have given them one star. I actually use to tell people when they asked about my car that I would recommend a Mini to anyone except people who lived in the Charlotte Area because I hated Hendrick Mini. At one point they had a company event and forgot about my car and kept it for 2 days just because I needed a light bulb changed. I am telling you all of this because they have really turned things around in my mind because of their service department. I get basically everything done there. The last 2 years the service has been impecable. - The speed for which they complete my work is in half. I can now schedule an apt basically when ever I need to as opposed to waiting 2 weeks like before. - They offer great service discounts via their newsletter (email) and on their website. With this coupons I'm paying the same as anywhere else for people who actually know and understand my car. - They always tell me up front what the computer says needs to be done, and what they costs are. Even if somethign comes up they always inform me of the costs and how long things should take. - As an added bonus the waiting room is comfortable. Wi-fi is now password protected and always works perfectly. They have a firdge with drinks and coffee always available. I'm happy to say I can now recommend everyone in Charlotte to not only purchase a Mini but to get your car serviced at Hendrick Mini. read more

I literally didn't have a yelp until I came to Hendrick MINI. 1 word, awesome. Every aspect. From the moment I walked in I felt safe, and genuinely cared about. My experience started easily on the phone making an appointment for a check engine light. When I came in Eric, my service advisor made me feel right at home. They checked out what was wrong with my MINI and then went the extra step to bring me out to Justin (I think that was his name- also very very nice) and physically show me what was wrong with the car. Most times you hear horror stories about nothing actually being wrong and being charged thousands to "fix" nothing. Being a female you always feel like they're out to get you because some of us (I know me at least) have not a clue how engines work. This was not the case at all at Hendrick MINI. I had quite a bit of work to be done but the waiting room was comfortable, there were free beverages and snacks and I literally played Mario Cart while I waited. It doesn't get much better then this. All of the other staff I came in contact with was extremely sweet and warm. Although I hope my current MINI lasts forever this would be the first place I'd come to when buying another. A July 2016 internet search showed a 2013 Certified MINI Coupe in excellent condition at Hendrick MINI, Charlotte. We called a day ahead and scheduled a test drive with plans to purchase and drive the car home. My research led me to believe a Certified MINI was the cream of the crop, the best of the best. In this case 'Certified' must have been a typo. We have since purchased a certified MINI and it is the best of the best...absolutely flawless, mechanically and cosmetically. Using Kelly Blue Book guidelines, this car was not in excellent condition. KBB states "Excellent is 3% of cars, looks new and is in excellent mechanical condition". Mechanically the car seemed excellent but the looks were definitely not 'new'. KBB states Very Good condition is "23% of cars, has minor cosmetic defects and is in excellent mechanical condition". This car had several 'minor cosmetic defects", but there was more. A Good condition car, according to KBB IS 54% of cars, has some repairable cosmetic defects and is free of major mechanical problems. This particular car had cosmetic damage that needed repair, namely a significant inch long dent on the driver's door. The windshield had been peppered with gravel and in several spots you could feel the nicks with your fingernail. Hendrick MINI advertised this Certified Excellent Condition car that when we saw it, was NOT as advertised. Had the car been accurately listed, we would not have spent half a day traveling and the dealership would not be getting YELPED. read more

These people have treated me so well I feel compelled to write this. The deal was done over the phone and through email (very convenient). I live out of town so the paid for a rental car for me to drive to Charlotte to pick up the car. I was in and out in less than 90 minutes. They honored the letter of the deal and beyond. Once I had the car home I had a very, VERY small issue. Nit picky really. But they did not see it that way. They were amazing. They drive me a loaner (three hours) took mine back to Charlotte then brought it back two days later. They washed it. They vacuumed it. And left me with a full tank of gas! That is Service.
