My bf and I decided to finally check out Hen Solo on Main Street in Manayunk and I'm glad we did. We walked in to place a to-go order, and our sandwiches (The Park Strikes Back and The Vodka Pesto Rebel) were ready in less than 10 months. Staff were friendly and the service was great. They don't have many seats inside but they have three bright yellow tables & chairs for those who want to dine in. We came home to find each sandwich is probably enough for 2-3 servings. I always thought this was comic store, so glad it turned out to Hen Solo, a Star Wars themed chicken spot. It's a humble establishment with an amazing menu, open kitchen concept, strong options and a chicken dish from every major cuisine. We tried a grilled chicken avocado sandwich, a huge cutlet sandwich ( with vodka sauce and pesto, and Nashville hot chicken sandwich and waffle fries. The second time I got the Japanese patsy sandwich, which was not my favorite. Still they have so many great items, service is amazing and fast, ambience is minimalist and inviting. read more

Wonderful addition to Main St Manayunk! As a Star Wars nerd, I was overjoyed when I saw this place to be opened soon and kept my eyes peeled for their opening! The restaurant is bright and cheery with the yellow walls and the lighting and lettering akin to the Star Wars theme. This spot is really just for takeout - there's a single 4-top table and another 2-top table, but I could definitely see them adding some bar seating along the wall in the future. I know they just opened so maybe just a snafu with the hours, but I timed my errands so that I could get there around the time they opened, which was listed as 11:30am. Got there around 11:45am and they were not open and the guy told me 12pm. I'm sure they're just ironing out kinks and I was determined to try this place, so I waited. The menu is HUGE, maybe a little too big if I'm being honest. It was hard to pick just one sandwich because so many sounded amazing. I went with The Dark Side, which was a Koreon fried chicken with kimchi slaw, spicy sauce, and chipotle mayo. Waited less than 10 minutes for my order to be ready and it was packed in a bag with my name and their signature "May the Flavor be With You" lol. Ok this sammich was ginormous - seriously a LORGE piece of chicken. And it was SO YUMMY!!! Seriously really good! I got the combo and the waffle fries were crisped to perfection as well! There's nothing like this spot on Main St so I'm sure it will fill that chicken sando void! And they're open until 2am on the weekends so I'm SURE the bar fiends will love this place! I was so excited to try this place and I ordered on Uber eats. They were running a BOGO deal for the chicken sandwich. I specified putting the chicken sandwich in wrap form - it was an option on Uber eats. Lo and behold, I am delivered two wraps with eggplant instead of chicken? I figured it was an error, and really wanted a chicken wrap, so I decided to order the same thing that same evening. The same thing happened! The eggplant wraps were completely inedible... It literally contained unbreaded eggplant, pickles, and a wrap. I tried calling the restaurant and they never answered my call/voicemail. Let me just say that the chicken was phenomenal. Unbelievably juicy, great taste, served hot, with huge portions. My chicken parm must have weighed almost 2 pounds. The place itself was a tad small, but very clean and tidy. The employees were nice. I didn't have too much of an interaction with them other than calling my name when my order was ready. I got the Fiery falcon, which is essentially their nashville hot chicken. It's supposed to be tossed in a fiery nashville hot sauce and also had chipotle mayo. The chicken was thick and was tender. However, the sandwich was not spicy at all and lacked flavor. I also had the dark side, which is a Korean flavored sandwich that tasted much better and had more flavor. The spicy mayo and spicy gochujang sauce did not deliver as much spice as I thought it would, but it was overall a flavorful sandwich. One big difference between the two was the amount of sauce. The dark side packed plenty of sauce while the fiery falcon lacked sauce. The fries were also cold and tasted stale. I think this place has potential especially because the dark side chicken sandwich tasted good. Considering the entire meal, it was overall mediocre. The folks who provide service are super nice and of course the ambiance is awesome. read more

Heard great things about this place and wanted to try it for myself. Went down on a beautiful Thursday afternoon amidst a quick run during my lunch break and ordered the R2-Rabe with mozzarella. This was the biggest chicken sandwich I've probably ever had in my entire life. It was bursting with I believe 3 tenders stacked with really good broccoli rabe (they chopped it which I appreciate because I've found that the worst thing that can happen when you bite into a sandwich with a whole stalk of broccoli rabe is that it all comes out and the whole sandwich falls apart, this didn't happen here), good crispy onions, peppers and cheese. Everything about this sandwich hit. I don't think I can pick my favorite part of this meal. I also ordered the sweet potato waffle fries, which is rare to see on a menu but I'll order it every time I go now. The fries were crispy (which sometimes restaurants miss the mark on with sweet potatoes, as they're more of a finicky spud than regular white/yellow ones). I will definitely be back but right now I'm going to take a coma because that's what this sandwich did to me. Good night! read more

Finally got to try Hen Solo and WOW! Using their online ordering system was seamless, easy, and very convenient. My order said it would be ready in 15-20min but I left a little early and it was all ready to go! The inside of the restaurant only has a couple of tables, so it seems to cater more towards takeout - and that's ok! They have a self-service kiosk to order inside the restaurant or you can order at the counter with one of their kind employees. The food..... wow. I have no words! I ordered the 3 tender combo (includes waffle fries or chips & a drink) which was only $13. Sometimes (as we all know) takeout orders can get cold or soggy, but not at Hen Solo! I was amazed that the waffle fries were perfectly crispy, chicken still warm & juicy, and the experience left me wanting more immediately! I was shocked by not only the size of the chicken tenders & how great the fries were, but also their chicken is QUALITY. So juicy, so flavorful with the breading, and they also have so many options from sandwiches to tacos and more! I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu and visiting again soon! read more

This is one of the best cutlet sandwiches I've ever had. The bread is soft, the cutlet was crispy, and the sauces were really delicious. I love the arugula so it doesn't feel as greasy. There was a little bit of a wait time because they do so many takeout orders, so if you don't want to wait, order ahead. It's a super small shop with seating for about 6. Combine that with the insane yellow lighting they have, it's not a welcoming dine in atmosphere. The staff were friendly and they do a great job packing the orders. Excellent takeout spot. read more

My friend and I went to this restaurant to try their chicken cutlet sandwiches. We had the kale caesar cutlet combo with fries and got an extra sweet potato fries with spicy mayo to try. The fries, sauces, kale and bread were delicious. But the sandwich was very disappointing. The chicken should've been the star of the meal but sadly it was poor quality, severely overcooked, rubbery and hard. You couldn't pull it apart without force. The chicken breading didn't stay on at all and was left on the kale and bread. For the price of this sandwich, they really need to improve the quality of their chicken. read more

Came to hen solo from Endor, it was a long flight in the millennium falcon but it was worth it, I got the 6 x wings and Chewbacca had one and dipped it in the spicy Nashville sauce and got mad because it was so spicy. I love the ambience, it reminds me a little bit of Tatooine. Lastly the service was awesome it was faster than when Han Solo completed the 12 parsec run in the millennium falcon. read more

I stumbled into here by accident and glad that I did. After a brief scroll of their menu, I chose the burrito &'glad I did. It was chock full of chopped chicken, rice, beans and peppers. The sauces on the side (red and green) were fresh and had the right amount of kick, especially the green! I'm glad this spot is here - main st has needed a to go sandwich & burrito spot for a while. These sandwiches are HUGE! They gave me more chicken than I think I've ever gotten in a sandwich. I got three portions from one sandwich, and it was even amazing heated up in the microwave. I got the caprese rebellion (minus bruschetta and arugula). sooo good . My boyfriend got the parm strokes back, which was equally as good, and the flavor profile took me so many places, it tasted like meatballs and spaghetti, but also pizza, and of course a delicious chicken cutlet sandwich.
