We were taken upstairs to a table in the far corner. I had the Peace, Love & Veggie Burger, which was quite good, and an order of jalapeno cheese fries. The jalapenos are fresh and pack quite a punch! Our waiter was lousy, though. Just seemed bored and disinterested. Greeted us (after we'd been sitting a while) by tossing some drink coasters onto the table and saying, "Something to drink?" Not even a hello. And that pretty much set the tone for the service we'd get from this guy for the next hour. He didn't check on us much, and I would have ordered another beer (thus increasing our tab and, you know, his tip?), but it seemed like it'd be too much trouble. I absolutely love this place, but I need to take away a star to warn my fellow vegetarians! I think this place is extremely veggie friendly, if you are willing to pay the price! They can make just about any dish with a veggie substitute, but it comes with a hefty up charge. To replace a burger patty with meatless is a $4 up charge, and to switch out a hotdog for a soy dog is a hidden fee! The first time we went I got two hot dogs and swapped them out for soy based, and when the bill came it was much more than I anticipated. I think it was a $2 up charge each! $8 for a hotdog, even with fixings, is pretty extreme! The server took off the up charge when I proved to him that it does not have it stated on the menu, nor was I told about it when ordering. I've been back since and the menu still does not say anything about an up charge. The food is amazing, though. I just wish I didn't have to pay much more than my friends to eat here. I think the veggie up charges are a bit ridiculous, a burger ends up being around $18-$20 (no sides included) after the fee. I just stick to the impossible burger on the menu to avoid it, but I wish I could enjoy all the fun recipes without paying a ridiculous amount. read more

Lucky's consistently knocks it out of the park for us. The staff are always very friendly, even when they are busy. Their food is fantastic. I'm not a huge French fry person, but their regular and specialty fries and tots are awesome. I love that they are able to substitute a vegan burger on any other burger on their menu. My macaroni burger was fantastic: the double patties were perfection, the pasta al dente, the cheesy sauce rich and tasty! My kids got the classic burger and the hot dog. We split an order of Main Street cheesy tots with old bay and ate every last crispy, cheesy bite. Everything was great and came out quickly. The server was kind and remembered the whole order without writing a thing down; a skill that I appreciate having worked in the industry years ago. The prices were totally inline with the excellent quality food and service. The joint was clean, pretty quiet, and welcoming. I really dig the leftist punk vibes and local feel, but at the same time I felt totally comfortable bringing kids here. I've eaten dine-in pre COVID and ordered takeout a couple times post COVID. Every time, I'm amazed by their side dishes like fried and tots and then underwhelmed by their burgers. I always thought it must be a fluke because they've won awards for best burgers. But, this time we only ordered two burgers to-go ($40 bucks with tip and tax) and without the tots to make the meal, we were pretty disappointed. Patties and bread were super dry (despite them saying the patties are thick and cooked to medium). For $40 they surely were a miss. Normally I love this spot and have always had good service/food, but my last time was horrible. The bartender on the second floor, I do not know his name but he's an older man, was extremely rude throughout the entire interaction. When my party of 2 got there, we were first served by a younger girl who was amazing. Her shift ended while we were still there so we were transferred to the man. Im not sure if he was just having a bad day or hates his job but at one point he rolled his eyes when I asked if I could have the fried onions I originally ordered on my burger after receiving raw onions. I did not ask for a new burger or anything else. I simply took the raw onions off, let him know the mistake that was made, and requested the fri d onions I originally ordered. Walked in around 2pm and got seated right away on a Sunday. They have 2 levels and both have bars to sit at. Music is pretty good and not too loud to talk to people without yelling. Waiter CJ attended to us straight away and we placed our order for side of fried onions, share of classic fries, girlfriend ordered the thunder chicken & I had the inferno burger. *Note* they do smash burgers here because they didn't ask how I wanted it. No complaint here because they cook them pretty good. Burger was stacked high and added the onions for some crunch. The onions came with a spicy sauce which I put on the burger because it wasn't too spicy which I though it would be. Chicken Sandwich was our favorite with the slaw on it. Everyone knows this is my favorite bar. I've come here for lunch and for dinners. I'll come in just for a pint. While in Manayunk last night, we decided to go to Lucky's. We were seated after they cleaned some tables. When they took our order, the chicken sandwich Entree I wanted to try was out. No worries, I'll fall back to my go to Peanut Butter and Bacon burger. Then I ordered onion strings and those two were out. Gambling rules for me state that if I hit two losses in a row, I walk away. Should have applied that here... We did not get fries or tots, because I don't personally enjoy them? I feel they are basic/frozen ones with better toppings on them? I just don't care for what I consider school lunch fries/tots, but fancier. never stopped me from coming back and if you love them, order them. Our food came out and we had no utensils or napkins. I don't even use napkins that often, but this was going to be a messy meal. Server was stretched thin, so I went to the bar. Bartender made eye contact with me, but was busy. Then decided to check on her tables, then spoke to someone else. I just grabbed some cocktail napkins. When the food was dropped, I was asked if we needed anything else. I ordered a beer. That beer never came. It also wasn't on my receipt. Why ask if you aren't going to follow through. Major service issues. Food tasted good, but service doesn't make me want to return anytime soon. Hoping that these issues fix themselves first. I was feeling bad about knocking this place down a star, but then we hit the street and I went to a bunch of four-star places.
