Doesn't look like much from the outside, but man is this place good!!! I recommend the beef!! So flavorful!! The potato salad was fine, but I'm not one to indulge in potato salad, so it was so so for me. Would go back if I'm ever in town again.

Ribs are five stars!!! Best we have ever had. The bbq sauce is great. Homemade and unique. Brisket is fantastic. The links are good. The chicken was a bit dry. The sides are not great. Coleslaw is too sweet. Even the potato salad was a bit too sweet. The beans are more Texas style I suppose. They taste like chili powder is in them. They are ok just not what we are used to. Baked potatoes are massive but have no seasoning.

Hands down the best meal I've had in Hemphill and the surrounding area. Placed an order to-go for lunch that consisted of 1/2 a chicken, 2lbs of ribs, beans, chocolate pie and 2 drinks and everything was delicious. My order was ready for me when I arrived to pick it up and they didn't make the sweet teas til' I got there so they weren't watered down. Customer service was top notch as well. The place itself is pretty small but it looked like there was some seating in the back too. The ribs were phenomenal! They were cooked perfectly and what ever they used to season them was awesome. Same with the chicken, it was nice and juicy! The beans kind of tasted like chili beans (if that makes sense) they were a great choice for a side dish. Our order also came with bbq sauce. And if you like pie save some room because you'll definitely want to try a slice. My husband and I ate our lunch and were full and had lots of left overs. I know what we'll be having for dinner ;)

Interior- cute and clean!

The funky little side of the road joint. Inside is clean with lots of cool stuff on the walls and a super chill vibe. Friendly staff and the owner Larry is a hoot! I got the 2 meat special with potato salad and cole slaw. The meats were flavorful but a little dry. This might be because we were there so late. We showed up at 7:00 and they close at 8. The sides were delicious. Cole slaw was my favorite kind- not a lot of mayo and a little sweet. Husband got the ribs, and they were AMAZING!!! Best I've ever had! So juicy, tender, and flavorful. Lots of other people were ordering the sandwiches. The potatoes were popular, but they had sold out. We got pie for dessert. Definitely get the pie! We had coconut cream meringue and buttermilk. They were terrific! We spend a lot of time up here, so I will definitely be back to try more on the menu.

It does not look like much from the outside and it does not look like much from the inside. The looks are deceiving. They serve the best BBQ in East Texas, hands down. Other places are good, some are really good, but nowhere tastes as good as this place. Why believe me? I know what I'm talking about when it comes to food; that's why. As Stubb said, "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm a cook." I love creating good food almost as much as I love eating it. I've lived all over the country and I've tasted just about every kind of BBQ there is (most other foods too). Try the sliced brisket, chopped brisket, turkey, chicken, or pork... you will like it all. The pit master must be a wizard. Charles (the owner) will probably come to your table to see how you liked his food. This is one of those unique businesses where the product comes first. It shows and it makes a difference. Mr. Weaver cares about putting enough delicious food on your plate to make you happy and full, then he'll let you leave. The only negative I have found is the sauce. It's good sauce, just not entirely to my taste. Even half-decent sauce can't budge that fifth star with meat as good as theirs. Try the Mild Topper (It's not on the menu). The mild sausage has a really great taste and depth of flavor compared to the hot. It'll probably be enough to fill you.

Unassuming awesome BBQ!

This is the BBQ we've been missing. It's located in downtown DeRidder in an old bungalow converted…read moreinto a restaurant and run by some lovely people who really know their food. It's larger than it appears and is very clean. It is handicapped accessible, thankfully, with a ramp on the side and very large bathrooms. The menu is a la carte and the meat is sold by weight, so it is easy to over order by mistake. (I did, severely underestimating how much 1/3 of a pound was. So, I ended up with a generous portion of leftovers for my lunch the next day. Definitely a win-win scenario.) My husband and I both had the 1/3 lb pulled pork and a link of the jalapeño cheddar sausage (also approximately 1/3 lb). There was their own BBQ sauce on the table that others in my party liked, but I thought the pork was very well seasoned as is. The sausage was probably the best I've had, with a great jalapeño taste and lots of cheddar chunks throughout. The casing had a wonderful snap. My DIL had the brisket, so juicy and tender, and my son had the smoked turkey - really a superior meat. I chose the macaroni & cheese as a side. It was super creamy and had green chilies throughout, giving it a nice heat. My husband had the baked beans which he really enjoyed. The other side ordered was the tater tot casserole. That was knock-your-socks-off delicious. It made the famous chain restaurant ("CB") version of hash brown casserole pale in comparison. Seriously, it was unbelievably delicious. Every plate (tray) came with a homemade cucumber pickle and pickled onions, nice to cut the delicious meats' "fattiness." There was also a sweet cornbread muffin that tasted more dessert-y than side dish-y. A lovely young gentleman came out of the kitchen while we were eating to offer us a sample of their "beef bacon" they were trying out. It was really interesting, thin jerky-like beef, but tender with bacon flavoring. If they do decide to offer it, it could be a hit for them. Not picture - my husband got a banana pudding to take home. He thought it was one of the best he's had. The rest of us were too full to think about dessert, something we regretted later on. Yes, this place is a bit on the expensive side, but it was absolutely worth every penny. The meats and the sides were so high quality and delicious, homey food with a five-star treatment.

The Brisket at this place is amazing. All of the sides are…read morebursting with southern flavor and the staff couldn't be any better. The second you walk across that wooden front porch and swing open the gateway to country charm and southern hospitality. Your taste buds are screaming from the mesmerizing smell of the "unruhly" beast. If you are coming to deridder and want to satisfy your Barbecue addiction. DO NOT let this place go without trying.
