Update 09/19/2026…read more UPDATE -- September 19, 2026 Well, here we are again. The engine that Frank's Auto Repair installed in my 2011 Hyundai Sonata in March 2025 was BAD. That replacement motor didn't even make it a year and a half before I started having major issues with it. After everything I went through getting the original engine replaced under warranty, the back-and-forth with the warranty company, being told the warranty was initially denied, and ultimately having to pay another $500 out of my own pocket, I expected the replacement engine to actually last. It didn't. I was initially willing to give Frank's Auto Repair the benefit of the doubt, but at this point, I can't ignore it. I trusted this shop to replace my engine correctly. What makes this even more frustrating is that when the first engine failed, there was already a warranty issue and a fight just to get it taken care of. Now the replacement engine failed as well. Two engines. One vehicle. I'm extremely disappointed with the entire experience. I gave Frank's Auto Repair the opportunity to make things right, and unfortunately, it didn't happen. At this point, I can only speak from my own experience -- and my experience with Frank's Auto Repair has been extremely disappointing. Do not go here go somewhere else!

Ever since my bad experience with Frank's Auto Repair, I've had a hard time finding a mechanic I…read morecan actually trust. That's when I decided to give Mike's Auto Repair a try, and honestly, I'm completely impressed with how well Mike communicated with me from start to finish. I took my daughters 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T to Mike because I was experiencing what felt like boost lag. I had already replaced the wastegate on the turbo, but I still couldn't figure out what was causing the problem. Come to find out, the wastegate wasn't the problem at all. There was actually something broken inside the engine's timing system. Mike told me he would let me know ASAP if he found anything serious. The very next day, he called me and told me he found metal chips in the oil pan and believed the motor was no good. Luckily, when Frank's Auto Repair replaced my engine back in March 2025, I was given a 3-year/100,000-mile warranty. Mike contacted Frank and explained that the engine needed to be replaced under warranty. Frank requested the odometer reading and pictures of the metal chips in the oil pan, which Mike provided. A few days went by, and then Frank told Mike that the warranty company was denying the claim because I hadn't taken the car to an ASE-certified mechanic for oil changes during the year I had the car back. HERE'S THE PROBLEM: The warranty contract never stated that I was required to have my oil changed by an ASE-certified mechanic. It did not say I couldn't change the oil myself or that the warranty would be void if I did. At that point, I seriously started considering getting an attorney involved because I felt like I was being given the runaround over an engine that was supposed to be covered by warranty. Then, SUDDENLY, the warranty company changed its decision and approved the warranty. Mike eventually received the replacement engine and installed it. When it came time for me to pick the car up, things got a little strange. I was told Frank wanted to be there in person for the transaction and wanted me to sign a new contract stating that, once this issue was resolved, the warranty would be void and I could no longer come back to Frank for anything else. Well... Frank never showed up. Mike warned us that if we didn't sign Frank's new contract, Frank might refuse to pay the remaining $500 in labor that he was supposedly responsible for. At that point, we decided we weren't comfortable signing anything new with Frank, especially after everything that had already happened. So, I ended up paying the remaining $500 myself. I consider that another loss, but I wasn't about to leave Mike stuck without getting paid for the work he had already done. More importantly, I wasn't willing to sign another contract with someone I no longer trusted. I've now had the car back for a couple of weeks, and so far, the new motor is running great. Hopefully, it stays that way. I'll definitely provide an update down the road. But I will say this: Mike's Auto Repair earned my respect. His communication throughout this entire process was excellent, and he kept me informed every step of the way. After everything I went through with my previous mechanic, having someone actually communicate with me and stand behind their work made a huge difference. If you're looking for a mechanic who keeps you informed and treats you right hit up Mikes Auto Repair.
