I thought that my Transmission was slipping, after checking prices at local shops for a total rebuild being worst case, this shop was middle of the road for a rebuild of my transmission. I first checked Yelp reviews, Google reviews, and the, Better Business Bureau. Performance Transmissions has a record of satisfied customers. I am so happy I chose this shop, turned out my transmission was fine, this transmission shop was able to troubleshoot my car and found two problems, Fuel delivery problem due to a worn out fuel pump, also a ignition misfire under acceleration but went away at idle, the spark plugs were worn out. these repairs cost a lot less than a transmission rebuild and my car runs perfect now. Shop manager "Lino" was very professional and a honest guy. I am very happy with this shop, I recommend them to you. read more

My work truck has been acting up (making loud whirring noise, seemed to lack power) so I figured at 240,000 miles I was finally due for a transmission. At the 5-star advice of my fellow Yelpers, I gave Performance Transmission a try. I called and spoke with the owner, Lino. He was friendly and seemed very knowledgeable. He got the information about my vehicle and advised me that there is a diagnostic fee, but it's applied toward the repair if they do it, which is very fair. I think all shops should do that, but they don't. After taking my truck for a short drive he told me that he had great news; the transmission was fine and the issues were a result of a seized fan clutch, which is much less expensive and time-consuming to repair. Performance Transmission doesn't do that kind of auto repair, so he took me across the street to see Omar at Performance Auto (see separate review) for the repair. Performance Transmission and Lino are great. I highly recommend them. It's nice to deal with somebody that has integrity and is fair. Lino was both, and for that he will get my future transmission business and this 5 star review! read more

Lino is the best and honest mechanic I've ever worked with I had a problem with my temperature that I have been trying for the past 3 weeks to fix by checking fuses and other things. I narrowed the problem down to temperature door blend that was loose but I couldn't get in there far enough to see if I can fix it. I came up Hemet from Oceanside to take a friend to a court hearing and it was going to take a bit so I yelped a close repair shop on the off chance I could get help with it. I called to see if there would be an opening and he said no problem please come down. After taking his time between other repairs he got into my car and fixed the problem in a snap! I took my 2007 Kia Spectra to Lino because it wasn't shifting out of first gear. It turned out to be a computer issue that was corrected when it was reset. Lino states that he did research on this issue and couldn't find a definitive answer and didn't feel he could do any more service on it because the issue was corrected with reset. I appreciated his honesty and he even gave me a discount on the diagnostic fee. I would recommend him to anyone with a transmission issue. Thanks Lino! read more

My son lost third gear in his Grand Marquis so we called Performance Transmission and made an appointment. Very accurate on the time he gave me for completion and third gear worked fine. On the way home I noticed a vibration that wasn't there before so I called and was told to bring it back. They said that it was probably the torque converter which was replaced that was out of balance. They put a new torque converter in and this solved the problem. Very pleasant and professional and ,I believe, honest company. Would do business with them any time and highly recommend them. read more

Great Shop. I have a 69 skylark that was on its last legs. Lino and his staff went above and beyond. They gave me a ride home when I left my car there. The turn around time was fast, he honored the yelp discount. More importantly he noticed a few of my cylinders weren't firing and was able to recommend me to a shop. Very knowledgeable about transmissions, he noticed the torque converter in my car would not keep up with the 383 stoker I have in the car and set me up perfectly. read more

I recently returned home after a week's vacation and my classic car had not been driven for that week. When I did go to drive my car, it was making noise when I put it into gear and would not go forward when I put it into Drive. I waited 'til the next day and tried again-everything seemed fine. Just to be safe though, I called Lino and explained what happened. He was very informative over the phone and said this can happen with older cars when temps drop and the vehicle has not been used. I was concerned about it however, so I took my vehicle over for a diagnostic check on the transmission. Lino checked the trans fluid, took my car for a short drive and did a quick diagnostic for me. Everything checked out great. Lino was so helpful and since everything was fine with my car, he didn't even charge me for the minimum diagnostic. This is my new 'go to'' transmission guy!!! This place Is great! I called and was given a price over the phone to rebuild the transmission on my 1998 Dodge Ran 1500. The price was reasonable compared to other places in town but what I liked most was the level of customer service I received. I went down to the shop and filled out the paperwork and made arrangements to have my truck towed to their shop for free! In less than 30min the tow company called me and were at my door within 15min. I never received another call until the work was done and my truck was ready to be picked up. There were no add-ons or attempts to sell me more services than we discussed. This is a first rate shop and I will not hesitate to return for any future transmission services! read more

Have a 2004 GMC Sierra 2wd w/6.0 Vortec that I tow with and there is little info out there that shows this truck exists. Most shops think 4L60 but w/ the bigger engine GM installed the 4L65 and talking to Lino at Performance Trans he had no problem discussing what should be done to it. He assured he would beaf up (or install all the latest updates) that address weak points in the 4L60-65 trans. In fact he said now it's a 4L70 w/ good Borg Warner and American parts thru out. I had 155,000 towing miles on my truck and wanted it to go another 155 w/o worry and the great staff here quoted me and told me to give them 7 days. I even came by at intervals and noticed they try to keep all the vehicles inside at night. That's comforting and shows customer care. They had the trans done and a couple of extras installed 1 day early even though it was a holiday week for many and the price was at or slightly below the origional quote. Lino and staff always took time to answer any questions and also showed the progress ( old parts and the h/d new parts). I personally like to do most work myself but some projects are left to the pros..I have other vehicles that will need work eventually and as long as Lino is there they are going to be built by Performance Trans. He had my vehicle for only a couple of days and diagnosed the actual tranny problem quickly and no BS and had a resolution for me. He promised me it would be fixed and ready in a couple of days and that's exactly when it was done. No gimmicks, no extra fluff and no delays. He put together a newly rebuilt transmission before removing the one that I had taken to another tranny shop. They couldn't get it right... We arranged to have my wife drop off her avalanche. I wish I could give 10 stars. Lino was so amazing both in explaining his shop services from our first phone call through the repair. This is by far the best experience with a shop both with being respected and his honest service. He quoted me $2200 for the rebuild of my transmission but when he dropped the pan he found it was a filter that was installed wrong by the previous shop when they serviced my truck in Idyllwild.
