It honestly takes a lot for me to leave a bad review, but I'm disappointed enough with my custom order experience that it's worth warning people to look elsewhere. The associates that initially helped me and my partner were amazing, but everything after that fell far below expectations. When my partner went to pick up his custom ring without me, he was completely overlooked by everyone in the store. Not a single associate greeted him or offered to help him, so after several minutes of patiently waiting and browsing around, he had to approach someone to ask for help to pick up his $1200 ring. Considering the fact that I was greeted immediately both times when I walked into the store, I have strong suspicions that my partner was treated poorly because of his appearance, which makes me regret doing business here at all. The store manager named Shay was the one who helped my partner, and her tone was condescending throughout the entire process. After having to send the ring back to get resized (despite being professionally fitted the first time) we didn't hear back from the store at all. No calls, no voicemails, no emails. My partner called the store after 3 weeks to check in and he was told our estimated date was pushed back even further. After 2 months had passed since our original purchase date, I decided to go into the store myself with the intentions of cancelling the order out of frustration. Instead of hearing out my experience, the same store manager named Shay was just as condescending towards me as she was to my partner. She immediately denied and deflected every concern I had as a customer, even though the ring had apparently been sitting in her store for over a week without her knowledge. If you're like me and you appreciate high quality customer service and transparent communication, then I strongly advise you to avoid this location. Worst customer service experience I've ever had. I ordered a fully custom, approximately 4-carat gold engagement ring from Helzberg. Before paying, I made it extremely clear that I wanted to propose in Hawaii and needed the ring within 2 weeks. I confirmed the deadline multiple times, they assured me it would be ready, and I paid in full. Only AFTER they gave me that confirmation did I book our five-day Hawaii trip and proposal. I spent thousands on the trip and proposal, including a photographer, videographer, drone, musician, etc., relying on their promise. The ring was finished the day before we were leaving at 5:00 AM. When I picked it up, it looked NOTHING like what I approved. The prongs were extremely thick and covered so much of the approximately 4-carat diamond that it made the stone look dramatically smaller. We customized this ring from top to bottom, and I had been shown exactly what it was supposed to look like. The original associate was on vacation, so I dealt with a male employee who had also been there when I originally ordered the ring. This is where the experience became unacceptable. After I showed him the design and explained the problem, I was told the soonest they could fix it was two weeks. I repeatedly explained that I was leaving for Hawaii the NEXT MORNING and had planned the entire trip and proposal based on their promise. Instead of trying to help, I felt like he argued with me and tried to brush me aside. At one point he told me something along the lines of, "Trust me, man, your girlfriend is going to love whatever you give her." That was incredibly dismissive. I didn't spend thousands on a custom engagement ring for an employee to decide my fiancée should be happy with whatever they gave me. I paid for a specific ring and expected to receive what I ordered. I even told him, "Show me ONE ring in this store with prongs that look like this, and I'll take it." He couldn't. After repeatedly being told nothing could be done for two weeks, I asked for a refund. He told me they couldn't refund it because it was a "modified" ring, even though it was ordered as a custom ring from the beginning. After roughly 30-40 minutes of arguing and him contacting management, suddenly I was told a jeweler could work on it RIGHT THEN and fix it in about 45 minutes. So after repeatedly being told two weeks was the soonest possible option, suddenly it could be handled immediately. This was extremely frustrating because I felt like I was only getting real solutions after repeatedly pushing back instead of being given honest, accurate options from the beginning. Then, after the jeweler had already started working on it, I asked what would happen if the ring still wasn't right. I was told that because they were now "modifying" it, I wouldn't be able to get a refund. Why wasn't I told that BEFORE they started modifying it? I had to argue again and have him contact management AGAIN before receiving confirmation that they would take care of it if the ring still wasn't acceptable. Throughout this interaction, I felt like I couldn't trust the answers I was being given. I would be told something absolutely couldn't be done, then after I challenged the answer and management was contacted, suddenly it could. Instead of being upfront with me and trying to correct Helzberg's mistake, I felt like the priority was getting me to accept the situation and leave because they already had my money. Thankfully, the jeweler did a good job and got the ring much closer to what I originally ordered. The problem I was told would take TWO WEEKS was ultimately fixed in roughly 45 MINUTES. Mistakes happen. If they had immediately acknowledged their mistake and said, "You leave tomorrow, we're going to do everything possible to make this right," I probably wouldn't be writing this review. The problem wasn't simply that the ring was made incorrectly--it was the way I was treated afterward and how many times I had to argue just to get accurate answers and a reasonable solution. First, the positive which was my sales associate who was great. He is the reason for the one star. I brought my engagement ring in that was purchased at Fiesta Mall (RIP) 30 years ago because one of the prongs was starting to catch on clothing. I showed him my original sales receipt just to prove we had purchased it from them. I let him know that I would expect that the warranty wasn't valid because I stopped coming in for inspections a LONG time ago. But I expressed that I trusted them with the repair of my ring. He takes it in the back and comes back with an estimate of $400-$600 to replace the prongs and tighten the setting around the baguettes. That seemed pretty high. But I understood the cost of gold etc. The sales associate tried to find my husband in their system but was unable to. He did find a record under my name for a ring repair and other smaller purchases they did at Fiesta and he said, "Let's see what we can do to for you" or something along those lines. Because he was taking his time with me (which I so appreciated) the manager came over to see what was going on. She didn't say hello to me or acknowledge me. She just asked him what she could help him with. He explained that he was trying to find an account on the 30 year old receipt. She then stated that they no longer use that system so he wouldn't find it. She then turned around and said "We will need to charge you the full repair amount" and walked away. I sincerely believed that he was going to try and get the cost lowered for me but her stepping in negated that. I didn't say anything because In NO way did I expect a repair for free, and would never want him to get in trouble, but I guess I thought that a 30 year repeat customer would at least a discounted price. Professional, courteous, and above all else, FRIENDLY. The moment I walked into this Helzberg location, I was greeted with the biggest smile and eagerness to help from Denise. We begin discussing what I was interested in, and eventually the store manager Sha came over to assist and begin showing me so many amazing rings. Immediately I could tell neither of these women were interested in just selling me a ring or trying to show me the most expensive items. They genuinely were interested in what it was that I wanted, and there was absolutely no pressure felt to purchase anything. As fate would have it, Sha showed me a particular ring that wasn't what I was expecting, but instead, it EXCEEDED my expectations and checked every box. Sha took the time to go over the specifics of the ring and was thorough in assisting me in making the right choice. When it came time to purchase the ring for my soon to be fiancé, I asked Sha if she was able to honor the Online sale price, and without hesitation she stated "of course I can". Should be called Helzberg fake diamonds. I told them I did not want lab created diamonds. My husband and I almost bought $10,000 worth of rings. We waited a day just to think about it went back in and then the lady told us they were lab created. This made me very angry, because I was very clear that I did not want lab created diamonds Even had us look at the diamonds under a microscope and showed us on the iPad the cut clarity etc. I don't care about any of that if it's lab created. I was looking for an engagement ring that was a little different than what you see these days. Nowadays, everything seems to be a halo pattern. I wanted to see some designs that were no so haloey. The selection at Helzberg was pretty good if you were looking for a Halo pattern. This is a high volume store so I would not expect personalized service if you go in here. When asked to see their non-halo designs, I was pointed to a couple of cases, then the sales assoicate just left. When asking another sales accociate if there were any more non-halo designs, she said that the other option would be to do a custom design, but I would not want to do that because it would be too expensive for me! On Saturday mid-morning of 11/10/18, as the Chandler mall was opening, my then boyfriend (now fiancé) and I ran in to return some items and do a bit of shopping. As we passed the Helzberg location, to my surprise, the display cases caught his eye. A woman behind the counter immediately greeted us and asked what we were looking for (engagement rings) and guided us in to look further. She introduced us to a different woman, who I believe was the manager and I cannot remember her name at this time, who took over assisting us. She made the entire process comfortable and comprehensive for us, and made it clear with us at the beginning what our budget was and what my style preferences were. She showed me SO MANY RINGS, all within our budget, but in the hopes of narrowing down what exactly I was looking for and even suggesting some styles that I hadn't considered. She was absolutely wonderful and charismatic. When I had decided on my ring, she even found a way to include a wedding band that matched it very well - still within our budget. And once she quoted everything at the end, the maintenance package and taxes included were STILL within our budget. She went above and beyond to make sure we were getting everything we needed in one visit and she was not pushy when we asked for time to discuss our decision. She really impressed us both. When we returned to pick up the rings after sizing, we were able to pick them up earlier than we expected and the ladies helping us then were also very warm and personable. If you're considering purchasing an engagement or wedding ring from this location, please think again. My husband purchased my wedding ring set from here several years ago. When we initially went to browse the rings the service was fantastic, everyone was so nice, it felt good purchasing from here. And my wedding ring set he chose was gorgeous. I loved it every day I wore it. However, the maintenance for their pieces is terrible. Any time I needed maintenance on my ring (repairing loose stones, re-treating of the white gold, etc), it took forever. I think the shortest wait I had was exactly one week. But it usually ran over a week, sometimes more than two. And every time they gave one of two excuses. Either the jewler was on vacation, or they were getting a rush because of a holiday coming up. What holiday happens in Aug. that everyone needs their jewelry to look their best, I'm not certain. And to rub salt in the wound, the staff is completely unapologetic if I had an event coming up that I wanted it done for earlier than that. The last time I went (and vowed never to go back), I explained why I was hoping to get it sooner, the associate's response was, "So do you want it, or not?". I never got any apology or empathy with them, but that was the worst. My husband and I got so sick of their attitudes that we exchanged the set at Jared a few days ago, and purchased a new set there. I own many Jared Neil Lane, Le Vian, & Smithsonian pieces, and all the same service is done within 2 hours, much better than about 2 weeks. And even if I am going in for service instead of a purchase, they're so wonderful and attentive. The attitudes at Helzberg ruined any chance of us wanting to do business with them again. read more

Jewelry CUSTOMERS BEWARE @Helzberg Diamonds refusal to accept return of defective and flawed Platinum and Diamond Wedding Band. One of the diamonds broke off on day 46 of owning it. They attempted to fix it and had the ring in their possession for 20 days for repair. On day 20th the ring was picked up. Well three days later that same diamond broke off once again. Currently attempting to dispute this ring as a lemon, but HELLsburg Diamonds is claiming that the 60 day warranty expired. They had the ring in their possession for one third of the warranty time frame. I will be giving them one more chance to fix this. No excuses this a defective product they are trying pass on and it's not going to happen on my watch. Stay tuned. read more

Helzberg used to be my favorite jewelry store, they seemed reasonably priced and had some friendly sales people. With my latest experience that has all changed. I brought in my engagement ring to get a small diamond in the band part replaced that had been lost. This is a fairly standard sub $100 service that jewelers provide. As expected, Helzberg took the job and said they'd have it back in a week. No problem initially. Upon coming back in to pick it up, the replaced diamond was extremely obvious and the ring was no longer round. Completely obvious mistakes, visible to the naked eye. Upon a comment they agreed to take it back (though it wasn't the friendliest exchange). Guess what? I come back to pick it up, and again the new small diamond is uneven with the rest in the line, at least the ring is the right shape this time. Upon a discussion I was told "that's not the diamond we replaced". Are you **** kidding? To lie directly to my face is unforgivable. I commented as such and the manager came out. This is really when the shocking part begins. After a 10 minute wait and a clearly visible discussion with the jeweler in the back (whom I'm apparently not allowed to speak to directly) she comes out and tells me again that the diamond I'm pointing out isn't the one they fixed. I even found the documentation that they wrote up where it clearly showed the diamond that is still wrong being the one that they claim to have worked on. Even after agreeing to take it back, they never agreed that this is the diamond they were working on. I should have just taken the ring back at that point (clearly), but I still had some hope they could redeem themselves. A week later, I come back to get the ring and its finally mostly fixed. But the new diamond mount still has a sharp edge that can catch on clothing, its bound to get loose and end up loosing the same one again. In addition, the platinum is discolored where they put heat to it. This is the least professional work I have ever seen with some of the worst customer service. I gave up and decided to take it (to get it fixed elsewhere). Upon exit, the manager informed me that the original manufacturer actually will replace diamonds for free. That would have been good to know at the beginning. A real craftsman who doesn't think they can do a good job would inform you of this up front and offer to help you find the best solution, a dishonest one makes it sound like it is the customer's fault for even bringing the item to this store in the first place when clearly you should just go back to the manufacturer (which I will clearly do next time). I really did like Helzberg, but now I will never be back (at least not to this location). If this is what can be expected from Helzberg, Berkshire Hathaway should seriously consider divesting, in the long run, dishonest businesses aren't profitable. And in this case, the manager choose too fire a long time customer over a $100 service over issues that could have easily been avoided. Is a customer worth that little? Do some 2nd grade math and you can figure out that keeping a customer at a high margin jewelry store is worth way more than a mere $100. Warning to all Yelpers...never buy anything here or contract any service. Follow this simple rule, if you ever feel pressured, trapped or scared while buying anything, DON'T BUY IT and leave immediately. In this store, you're bound to feel all of these emotions at some point. To all Men looking for engagement rings, shop around and find something you really like, do your research, and get more for your money. You can trade in your old jewelry and get full credit for what you payed as long as the new jewelry is over double in cost, or at least that was the sales pitch. When we tried going in and asking about trading in a ring purchased there, all of a sudden the "deal" started getting really complicated. First, the customer "service" lady said each trade in is at the manager's option and she didn't think he would be interested in my ring. Second, even if he was interested I would only get what the manager deemed fair and only on a full priced item, no sales or special buys. I feel lied to and grossly mislead. This place is a total joke! When I walked in I felt like I was being judged complety by the way I looked (as if I couldn't afford anything). I wasn't even approached by a sales person for a while and when they finally did the service was very snobby and condescending, as if they were better than me. The person that stood out most to me was a lady named Shay, and she didn't seem to care about my interests. I felt as if it was their way of trying to get me out of the store completly. I strongly advice to go somewhere other then this place of business. read more
