The tech came and read the instructions for my honeywell WiFi thermostat, tried installing a number of ways, called Honeywell tech support then said he cannot install because the wiring is not compatible. Wondering if he could've figured that out before trying to install by looking at the manual and would've saved everyone a lot of time. That said, if you don't have a basic install, my suggestion is to hire an electrician. That's what I ended up doing and it was done in 7 minutes. read more

The worst experience I have ever had with any type of Home Improvement/Repair/Service I scheduled an appointment online to have my 60" television mounted to the wall. I then received a phone call from the "Geek" (Nicholas) informing me when he would be arriving. When he arrived, he laid out his tools and equipment on my brand new furniture which I thought was rude. He didn't even ask if he could or not. Then, when I told him where I would like the TV to be placed, he told me that he thought it would be better at a different height. He said that that was the only place it would work. I told him to show me where exactly but he just kept saying that it would be fine. Very rude. Then, he started to make multiple dark pencil marks on the wall. When I got closer to see what he was doing, he just said "don't worry, it's just pencil!". He then drilled 2 holes into my wall and looked puzzled. He told me that it seemed as though my wall did not have any studs behind it. I laughed because I had never heard such a stupid statement before. I told him that he was wrong and that I knew 100% that there were studs, but he kept saying no. I asked what my other options were and he said "nothing. i can't mount the tv so you won't be charged". I literally could not believe it. No studs? No other options? Nothing else he could do? Really? What kind of company is this? The second he assumed there was no studs, he just packed up his tools and left. I told him fine and to just leave. He left and I noticed that the pencil marks he had made were dark and had stained my wall. I had to pay someone to come and touch up the mess he made. He caused so much damage that even the finish of the wall doesn't match anymore and I'll need to hire someone else to match the drywall. And to top it all off, I called and emailed Geekatoo to complain and it's taken them a FULL WEEK to get back to me. VERY VERY VERY VERY unprofessional service. Our office purchased a new printer and we needed assistance with set up and connection. I searched yelp for companies that provide in office tech support and came across HelloTech. After reading reviews, I called them, explained what we needed and they scheduled someone for the job. The call was quick, the person on the phone took all my information in detail: the entire process was seamless. The asked me when I would like to schedule, I provided a few options and within 1 hour someone was assigned. Two days before the visit, the tech contacted me and asked if we could reschedule. I appreciated his honesty in explaining that logistically he might be challenged in arriving on-time. We found a mutually convenient time, he arrived even 10 minutes early and completed the job in less than 30 minutes. I bought a flat screen TV on Craig's list and decided I wanted a wall mount after a while of the TV setting precariously on a pedestal. I called around to try to get someone to do it for me since we were balancing 100 pounds on my wall! Some places never returned my call in Pleasanton area, and others were surly and quoted me $150-$250 an hour for two technicians. Others were willing to do it but quoted me the same going rate but I would have to buy a wall mount from them for $450. We were talking more than the cost of the TV to mount it on a wall! I had never heard of Geekatoo but my girlfriend found it for me and the ratings were great. I called and was immediately connected to someone with a fixed rate of $159 for a wall mount. I got the best wall mount I could get from Costco for $179 and I was in business! Friendly, economical, the technician Phil brought all of his equipment with him, knew what he was doing. He gave good advice on where to locate the wall mount for the TV. Very knowledgeable about the industry and why other businesses were overcharging. "Serving the entire U.S." Actually, no they don't. I had an AV Receiver problem so I called HelloTech instead of the Geek Squad. Promises, promises, promises. Made an "appointment" which they didn't keep and told me "we're looking for a rep in your area". Well, keep looking sweetheart because there aren't any because they don't service my area. While I sat, twiddling my thumbs, waiting for the call that will never come I went down and spoke to one of several Geek Squad Techs at Best Buy. Problem solved and didn't cost me a cent. Should be interesting to see how long it will take the knuckleheads from HelloTech to get back to me. Should change their name to "GoodbyeTech". Update: Someone from HelloTech finally called me today (3 days after my service request) and asked me if I wanted to cancel my REQUEST for an appointment after reading my review on Yelp. Seriously? I don't hear from you guys and it's a negative review on Yelp that motivated you to call me, not the fact that I needed help with an electronics issue? Rep asks me "I understand you want to cancel your appointment?" What appointment? It's been said that the best form of advertisement is word-of-mouth. Or worst, I suppose. read more

Poor customer service. Set-up an appointment to mount my new TV. Rep confirmed availability the very next day and provided me with a confirmation number. Received a text two hours before the tech was to arrive to mount my TV, confirming my appointment for a different date. Red flag number one. I called HelloTech immediately and the rep told me they still had me confirmed, but had to call the tech about the text confirming a different date. HelloTech could not confirm my appointment on the day we scheduled, because they could not reach the tech. HelloTech provided me with the tech's name and number - told me to call the tech to sort this all out. Isn't this what HelloTech should be doing? Red flag number two. But I would not recommend them to anyone. 1st, they moved my appointment by sending an e mail to a broken computer after they had every phone number I have. Then they guy who showed up, while extremely nice, did not fix the problem. His suggestion was to buy new. ( not Bill Gates here but that was something I could have guessed) 2nd, he moved files to another computer that now will not open, I called him back(thank god for caller ID) and he suggested call someone else to try to get help. We were having problems with our printer connecting to our laptop. Previously working with Geek Squad, I hesitated to contact them again as it was challenging to get a timely appointment and the pricing was high. I searched for other options on Google and stumbled upon HelloTech. WHAT A GREAT FIND!! From the start, the booking agent was courteous, professional and effectively communicated HelloTech's services. After his explanation of pricing and service, he was able to expeditiously schedule our appointment. I called on a Friday night at 1030pm and was able to schedule an appointment for Sunday afternoon. We received an email reminder of our appointment on Saturday and within 1/2 an hour of out technician's arrival, we received a courtesy email letting us know that he would be arriving at the scheduled time. He was on time! Our technician's name was Sam who immediately got to work on the problem and completed the task efficiently and effectively with very little guidance. Sam quietly worked without intruding on our family time. However, when I would ask questions, Sam attentively listened and patiently worked with me on answering my questions and resolving the problem. Without reservation, I will call on HelloTech again for any future technical support and will definitely specifically ask for Sam.
