The tech that HelloTech sent was not the right person to install a working phone jack.. He seemed to be blind-sighted by being asked to install the phone jack even though HelloTech was notified by Xfinity and myself that that was the job. He did his best but what he did failed to produce the connection for more than a 30 minutes. I called a telecom pro experienced to do the work after trying to get HelloTech to send a tier 2 person and HelloTech not being able to say when the more experienced tech would be able to come. Started a dialogue with them about a project. I received a few questions and then follow up emails asking for a response in less than a hour after I sent the answers. I answered the questions and then received a quote followed by another follow up less than an hour later. I sent a few questions back. I received a customer service survey asking how they're doing with no reference to my follow up questions. I've yet to hear back from them regarding my questions, and it has been four days. These people strike me as very irresponsible. I've moved on to other providers. read more

Beware of the 'membership' to this business! I called to cancel my account and discovered that it's a yearly membership and I CAN'T CANCEL!! I'm so furious. What a terrible business ripoff!! I tried these guys out for a home installation of my new Nest Hello doorbell camera. I scheduled a install time and they had three slots open to choose from this morning. The options were 9am, 10am and 11am so I chose 9am to get it done early and head into work. We texted during the week with pictures of the area and all seemed like it was going fine. They never showed up. They didn't text me and only sent me an email at 831am. I called them at 930am and was on hold for 24 minutes before someone picked up and asked if I wanted to give the company another 30 minutes to show. I asked for a refund. I realize the tech is different from area to area but the guy we had (Dan) in Southern NJ was great! Fixed an ongoing issue with slow internet speeds after multiple attempts on my own, with the cable company (X) and even another tech from a different company. Not a good experience. Tech came and couldn't finish the job. I paid way too much money for this service for what I got. I had to spend the whole next day finishing what the tech had started. Then I had to program the TV and the remote. Luckily I'm text savvy and can do it but that's not what I was paying for. Total rip off. read more

The installation of my ring doorbell was quick and the tech was knowledgeable and friendly. The reason for four stars was due to the fact that the original appointment was scheduled and I received email and text reminders. I waited for 20 minutes after the expected arrival, called ring customer service, and was told the tech would call me. Although he called much later and apologized there was a lack in ongoing communication with the tech, myself, and the company. Tech came 10 min. early, never rang my doorbell. I saw a notification on my Kuna coach light that someone was at my door. I ran out and the tech was about to enter his car and told me he was going to leave! (If the person is not home, the person has to pay anyway if the tech shows up). But I WAS home.Unfortunately for him, he had to work. He did do the work, installed 2 Arlo pro cams outside. He didn't bring his own ladder or stool and used mine. He was a VERY BIG guy and complained that the ladder wasn't steady. Well, why didn't he bring his own? I was praying that the ladder wouldn't collapse on him. He did not get the screw all the way in for the mounting stick on my front porch and said there is too small a space since I had an overhang above it. I don't know why he didn't plan accordingly! Now my husband will try to fix it next weekend with a drill and try to get the screw all the way in. The mounting plate is holding up the Arlo Pro cam. I don't think I would use Hello Tech again if I needed an installation done. A month ago, an electrician installed my Nest Doorbell, did a superb job and happy I didn't call Hello Tech for that service. read more
