I used to live in Vegas, where AYCE sushi is very common. Unfortunately, for most of them, since the focus is on quantity, the quality suffers. This is not the case for Toryumon! Maybe it's because it isn't strictly an AYCE place. You can absolutely order items a-la-carte from their regular menu (as I had done previously for take-out). The items are exactly the same whether you order from the regular menu or the AYCE. Same quality, and, this is important, same size! Yes, you will receive a FULL-SIZED bowl of ramen if you order it from the AYCE menu. Not all of the menu items have descriptions, and I was surprised by some of them (not in a bad way, just wasn't what I was expecting), such as: The avocado salad. I was expecting it to be cubes/chunks of avocado tossed with a dressing. What came out was a lettuce salad with sliced avocado on top. The dressing was good, slightly sweet. It was a good salad, just not at all what I was expecting. The sweet potato sushi roll is served warm, the sweet potato is deep fried, and there is eel sauce on top. The sweet potato rolls I had other places were not fried, and served cold. I really enjoyed this one! Everything seemed very fresh, not a hint of wilting greens or brown avocado to be seen! I am so grateful to live right down the road from this amazing establishment. If you enjoy ramen, sushi, and other Japanese items, def give them a try! There are bathrooms available for guests. What my stars mean: 5 is outstanding, memorable, a place to write home about! A must-experience. Someplace I would love to recommend to tourists, and visit myself again and again. 4 is great, somewhere I'd love to return again and again. Back-up recommendation for tourists. 3 is good. Instead of actually greeting me, and asking me to give them a moment, she looks up at me (not even the staff member on the phone) and raises her finger at me??? The audacity of that was plenty of fuel for the one star. As if that weren't enough, when the associate that was on the phone was done, her colleague looks at me and asked what I "needed"...I chose to tell her I was there to dine, again, standing there alone, and her response was, "I'm not supposed to automatically know that." Representing the restaurant in this manner let me know she didn't desire my business, or presence. I promptly let her know that I'd pass on dining there, and left your establishment. I don't care HOW good your food may be, your staff's customer service and attitude ruined the chance I was taking to try a new local establishment. I'll be sure to share my experience with whoever asks, but I encourage the enhancement of customer service training to prevent losing more diners like myself.

We ordered the Tonkatsu Curry and for anyone who loves Coco Ichibanya in Japan, this is the closest we found here in DMV area. It was SO GOOD! We will go back to just have that again. We were a little overwhelmed when were given like four different menus. We started out with the pork belly appetizer, which was probably our best dish of the afternoon. We also ordered the spider roll. Takohachi's spider roll comes with soft-shell crab, avocado, crab and fish roe. It was pretty good though the roll slices seemed fragile and started to fall apart. We ordered some kind of tonkatsu "bento box". It came with an excellent chicken katsu (loved the crunchy breading), udon, rice and a simple salad. This entrée also came with these interesting rice "balls" that were rice with a toasted slightly sweet exterior. I also ordered a toasted rice ball. It's what you think a toasted rice ball would be, white rice in ball that's been toasted. No additional ingredients or flavorings. JP ordered a grilled whole sardine, which he liked. Service was friendly and attentive. We'll be back.
