I went in to Helen Wilson's office with my girlfriend as she had an eye appointment. I was the "driver" and she was the patient getting her eyes dialated and checked during her annual check-up. Helen is a family friend and my girlfriend has been seeing her for 15 years. I witnessed Helen's caring, knowledge and warmly explained analysis of what and why she is doing all of these tests. She explained her knowledge very well with my girlfriend on changes or constants going on with her eyes. We asked a few questions and Helen answered. She explained that Macular degeneration connects to blood pressure in the eye connecting to background mini eye blood vessel aneurysms and more information that was very helpful. If you're in the market for contact lenses Helen Wilson is highly recommended! She is extremely thorough. I've worn contacts for many years but she is the first to take this much time in ensuring proper fit, strength, and comfort. She had me try 6-7 different sets of contacts on and had me do the "Is 1 or 2 better?" w/ the funky mask, for each set. If there wasn't an $80 new patient fee this place would have received the 5th star. Even with the new patient fee, I'd still highly recommend this place as the fee was worth the evaluation and time that Helen took to ensure the proper prescription. read more

Dr. Helen Wilson's office - both the Dr. herself and her medical assistant, Mary - have always made me feel very well taken care of. Dr. Wilson was referred by my primary care provider, who I highly respect. They are neighbors. I am a "senior" and the first time I saw her, had an urgent need to have my eye checked out. They were able to fit me in on the first appointment of the next day. I was very satisfied with that. A few months later, I came back for a complete eye exam. I did need to wait about 30 minutes because Dr. Wilson had an emergency appointment. I'm not going to "ding" a dr. for that...some day, I may be the emergency she needs to see. My philosophy is that we are partners with our doctors. There is a give-and-take in a partnership. At both appointments, Dr. Wilson did a very thorough eye exam. I've been in the eye doc's chair since I was 3 years old and know a good eye doc when I see one. She's a little far for me, not in my neighborhood, but will continue to use her for my eye health because she knows what she's doing, shares her knowledge about what's going on, and has always been very professional and personable. Dr. Wilson is older like I am, so hope she practices a few more years! Have been finding out in the past few years that good doctors can be difficult to find. read more

I have never written a review, but this one must be done. Helen Wilson portrayed her most UNPROFESSIONAL side to us on a Saturday appointment when Mary (her only other employee) was not around. My 15-year-old son was in for "piggyback" contacts fittings because she said he had keratoconus. Helen was SO rude to him! She kept saying "put your hands under your legs!!!" He is very eye sensitive and naturally wanted to rub his eyes to stop the tearing. I walked over to the open door to watch what was going on. Helen snapped her fingers repeatedly, pointed to the exit, and demanded I leave. I did (my BIG mistake). Later, I was then going to pick up my daughter who was just across the street at Plato's Closet and trying to be kind to Helen to advise her. She snapped her fingers yet again and told ME to leave. I then had the courage to say to her that she is the MOST unprofessional person I have ever encountered in my entire life. We have never and will never be back. We have since transferred to a new, reputable, professional, KIND doctor. For the record, Mary is great. Over the years, she has been nothing but kind, gracious and helpful. Helen is rude and again, the most unprofessional person I have ever met. Avoid this place. read more

I have gone to Dr. Wilson for over 15 years and have experienced extremely positive treatment, both medically and in the office in general. Dr. Wilson is one of the .best medical optometrists anywhere around. She takes her time with every patient for a most thorough exam and explains the condition in a way you can understand. I've been going for over 15 years, and my parents for longer than that! Helen has always provided great care, especially for contact lenses. I remember sitting in her office practicing jabbing my contacts into my eyes rather unsuccessfully on my first day many years ago, but she was very helpful, and continues to be so. I saw the review posted last summer, and felt compelled to post my own review. I have been a patient of Dr. Wilson for 17 years. She was recommended to me by an ophthalmologist friend of mine. Our entire family, including grandparents, now see her regularly for a huge range of problems: cataracts, routine eye care, screening for genetic disease and my husband's congenital eye abnormalities. All of us feel she is hands down the best we've ever worked with; as a physician, I can attest to her thoroughness. Dr. Wilson and Mary are both amazing. I was experiencing some eye issues early last week and by Friday afternoon it was unbearable. My boyfriend has been seeing Helen for years and suggested I call to see if she can get me in. Mary was awesome and was able to schedule me a same day appointment later in the afternoon on an emergency basis. I arrived on time and only waited a few minutes to see Helen. She was super personable and took a good, thorough look at my eye. She gave me a prescription and even told me which pharmacy to go to to get it the cheapest and less than a week later I am all better. I am so grateful to Helen and Mary for being so great to me that day and not letting me go into the weekend with an eye infection. Went with my sister to see Dr. Wilson who she has been using for years for annual eye checks. She has always been happy with the visits she had with her but a few days ago she was experiencing blurry vision and went to see her. Dr. Wilson told her she had swelling of her optic nerve and then left her office to do some research on it. When she came back and told her what she found my sister came to the waiting room to get me as she was so upset. Dr. Wilson said she could not treat this condition as it was not..and I am quoting her as it was not in her pay scale..so she would have to send her to an ophthalmologist. She then told her the things that could cause optic nerve swelling such as brain tumor, stroke in the leg releasing plaque to the eye, and other alarming causes. We get that she was trying to educate her but I have never been to a doctor who would alarm a patient so badly with information that was not even in her "pay scale". When my sister asked her if she could get her in to see the specialist as soon as possible she said she would try but my sister waited five days to come and see her so guess she didn't think it was so urgent. When my sister asked where the specialist was she said she wasn't sure but said something like..I don't know..its around here somewhere..make a left..then a right..nice. I said to Dr. Wilson you know my sister will not sleep tonight with all of this and she said she understands..all you can do is go home and pray! I'm pretty sure in all my life I have NEVER had a doctor say that to me. On the bright side of the review of this "doctor"..Mary the receptionist is awesome. read more

Dr. Wilson is the best eye doctor I have ever had. Our entire family has seen her. She is thorough, always knows the latest, and really listens to you and is an excellent teacher.
