I've been going to a version of Helen Back since the early 2000s when it was on the water in Ft Walton Beach. Like the Ft Walton Beach location, they still have military free pizza Mondays as well as other themed days tailored for specific parts of the community. The pizza is still good as always, to include the top line pizza if you are familiar with the original. While not on the water, building is nicer and the people at Helen Back are still great! Be sure to go to the right location. It is not in the old Winn Dixie shopping center. Since I was alone so I sat at the bar. The bartenders took good care of me. The bar had a chatty atmosphere, mostly about the upcoming Super Bowl and Olympics. Menu had many good choices at reasonable prices. I enjoyed my pizza. As usual, I was on Yelp looking for something tasty to eat, and I came across Helen Back Pizza. It had been a few months since I had a pizza, so we decided to give this resturant a shot. Pizza was the delicious, the customer service was helpful and friendly. The ambiance was to be expected...late on a week day night. If you are in Crestview looking for some good pizza, stop in Helen Beck, you will NOT be disappointed. We stopped in for lunch on our way to the beach and we will definitely be back if we are ever in the area again. The restaurant looks to be built inside of an old church, but the built on to it so that it almost appears like an indoor patio in the bar section that is heated and cooled. We were greeted when we walked in and our server was super helpful with helping us to place our order as we have never been here. My 17 year old son and husband split the larger CHICKENBACONRANCH and thoroughly enjoyed it. It came with a side of their homemade ranch which had a nice dill flavor and was super tasty. Their pizza was huge and we took 4 slices to go. I order the HOT & STICKY and it was SOOOOO GOOD! It had the perfect amount of sweet and heat! I absolutely loved all of it. The crust isn't thick, but isn't thin and the edge of the pizza taste just as good as the pizza itself. I ate the entire 10 inch pizza because I loved it sooo much! Loved this place! This podunk town needed a pizzeria, we ended up getting the Margherita "por favor" pizza. The crust was thin and crunchy, right amount of burnt ends, the ingredients on that pizza paired so well. My wife and I shared a 16 inch pizza, left without about 4-5 slices to-go. The best thing is we left feeling satisfied, and a good full feeling. Unlike a dominos, little Caesar, or papa John's which makes you feel like a crap after and you can't move. You can tell Helen Back uses top quality ingredients. It looked amazing but then noticed the purple onions ): Brittany came by to check on us and I mentioned the onion mixup. I told her it was fine but she wasn't having any part of us not being 100% satisfied with our meal. Never eaten here before so decided to give it a try. The pizza was mediocre at best. We decided to start with the OG - a pepperoni pizza - you can't go wrong. My hubby thought it was good, I thought it lacked flavor. We also ordered the chips and salsa because I was intrigued - chips and salsa on a pizza menu - ok! The homemade salsa was GREAT! A tint of sweetness and just enough heat! I like it more than the pizza. The chips were bagged (I can almost taste the brand). Homemade chips would be SO BOMB with their homemade salsa! Heart broken, I thought Helen back was back, but this is not Helen back pizza. No garlic butter on the crust. Too much cheese and sauce is not like it was. It's not worth it. Plus, the music sucks. Definitely a different taste in pizza by my locals. My favorite place for real Italian wood fired pizza closed and I've been searching for a new pizza. I don't do Dominos, HH, Pizza Hut or Marcos.
