Pretty good Chinese food! I ordered the Beef Chow Ho Fun, and was very pleased with the dish. The food was freshly prepared after I ordered and immediately served, steaming hot. The serving size could feed 2-3 people. My only critique would be that the noodles were slightly over cooked/mushy--I am used to a slightly chewy & "drier" aldente noodle. The service was great, staff was very accommodating and friendly. While waiting for my food, I noticed that they offer delivery for orders $15 and up, which is awesome for those working from home wanting a quick and convenient lunch. My husband really wanted Chinese food and I was trying to change his mind... glad he didn't listen to me (for once ). The driver dropped it off on someone else's porch ( contactless delivery) and after calling the restaurant, he came back and i was already crossing the street to meet up with him. Went on a Saturday night, it was pretty busy. Ordered the General Tso's Shrimp which I had ordered a few times previously. Dish was not prepared the same as previous times, instead of large shrimp, it was baby shrimp in a heavy batter similar to sweet and sour chicken breading. Called back to voice my disappointment, the person on the phone said "you never ordered this before and this is how we always prepare it". Would be ok if they would acknowledged the change in recipe, but telling me I never ordered something, I know I did, not sure if I will order from again. read more

Still consistently good food! With the exception of Kum Fong in Burlington there is a not a better take-out Chinese restaurant in the area!

So, my mother told me that this place sold Boba Tea, and since I'm a fan of Boba Tea and haven't had it in a while I figured, let's try this place out! So, we walk in, go to the cash register, and have our order taken by an employee's child; I basically get a Green Tea flavored Boba Tea . The child then goes behind a curtain that leads to the kitchen and talks to the employees for a good four minutes... Quite a lengthy wait just to receive one drink, but whatever. The child then comes out and tells me that they don't have Green Tea Flavoring. Ok, that's fine. Then, I suggested another flavor. The child goes through the curtain again. Super duper... While I'm waiting again, I notice their aquatic pets. Two turtles in a fish tank and an aquarium full of differently colored fish. The turtle's fish tank was filled a quarter of the way with rocks and water and had an overhead light shining down on them. In the water, there was a device that did NOT look like it should have been there (maybe it was a filter, but I'm not entirely sure). All the while, the turtles looked incredibly uncomfortable in their habitat constantly struggling to walk in the rock filled water; the aforementioned device not making their walking any easier. The aquarium was no better. The tank had the appearance of the dentist's aquarium in "Finding Nemo" where you could see more algae than fish. Of course, the cherry on top was the bouquet of electrical cords sitting on the edge of a shelf above the fish bowl. While those cords were being used for the aquarium's filtration system (if there even was one to speak of judging by how green the tank was) there should have been another place they could have place those electrical cords. One of the restaurant's employees comes out this time and says that they straight up didn't have anymore tapioca pearls to make Boba Tea... Like seriously? You made me wait like eight minutes for a Boba Tea just for you to come out and say "whoops, we don't have anymore tapioca pearls to make a Boba Tea." Friggin great... This employee did say that they had Boba Milk made with popping pearls (basically instead of tapioca balls, they're juice filled balls that pop with little effort). So, I ordered that and after like two more minutes, I had my drink. Was it worth it? Not particularly. Especially since you can pretty much buy boba tea ingredients yourself and make them at home. Though, it was nice to experience a different take on Boba Tea. The possibility of me coming back to Heelok is unlikely, especially with how they treat their animals. I'm actually surprised that PETA, ASPCA, and animal activists haven't ascended upon this place in black helicopters yet and taken these poor unfortunate animals to a place that would better care for them. read more

Always love their food. My special is the sesame tofu but all other dishes are great and of course their soups are wonderful.

I went there yesterday and got a large wonton soup, boneless rib platter and a shrimp egg roll. The boneless ribs were overcooked. They were hard and chewy....some were burnt. The wonton soup had no flavor...I had to add seasoning to it. The food was cold when I picked it up. Wanted to try since the ratings were good. I will not return. I will continue with Lim Fong on Pine St in Lumberton. Maybe I should have went with something I knew but you can't go wrong with wonton soup. read more

So, 4th and final day of work in Lumberton, and I was actually looking for a Spanish joint. But I was determined to get my work done in advanced. So I opted a closer restaurant. Literally, next door. I've never picked a Chinese restaurant for lunch, ever, but I was not disappointed, at all!! Staff was very nice and took my order right away. Place was pretty packed. I guess everyone comes here for lunch. I ordered sweet and sour chicken for lunch. Pretty good! Taste just like... well, sweet and sour chicken. The lunch special came with a soda. My husband came home to Chinese food roast pork lo Mein and found that while eating the meal he was cutting his mouth up withBrillo wire mixed in the noodle. He swallowed it and threw up to get it back up. Bad service, hopefully he will recover from this without and medical attention. Food was under cooked and very cheaply made. Had tofu and maybe 5 pieces in with vegetables and seafood soup had almost nothing in it.

We ordered from this restaurant a couple of years ago and did not care for it. We received a menu in the mail and thought we would try them again. This past Saturday night take out for three. Unfortunately we again did not care for our meals again. The roast pork fried rice had no flavor. The roast pork egg foo young was just barley okay, same with the boneless ribs and House lo main. On the positive side the wonton soup, steamed dumplings, portion size, prices, and packaging were good. This elevated my review to two stars. It is important to patronize local restaurants, repeat business all depends on the food, it has to be good to excellent every time. read more

Update: We have ordered here numerous times now and have always been pleased with the food and service. Earlier this month we made a last min order on our way back from the airport. It was late at night just before their closing time. We ordered via the Yelp app as we usually do and wasn't sure if our order had made it in time. I read through these reviews and maybe I just got them on a bad night but I did not have a good experience with this restaurant tonight. I ordered take out and I ordered via the yelp24 app. The app told me my food would arrive at 7:08 pm. The food did not arrive until 7:58. The food wasn't even good. I had to throw out most of it because it wasn't even worth it. This place is well run and I've always had good service. Pick up was always ready and order was correct. Delivery was always prompt and accurate. I deduct a star because there isn't really a seating or atmosphere. The other star I deduct because I find the sauces to be on the lighter side and more bland than my favorites. With that said they have the best won-ton and hot & sour soup. The apps are great too Shrimp toast, ribs, crab rangoon. Our staples are chicken & broccoli, shredded beef in garlic sauce, General Tso's, Lo Mein and shrimp egg rolls. We also had dumplings which are good. It just comes down to having a more thick or flavorful sauce on the entrees for my taste. If you like lighter sauce this is the place for you. read more

This restaurant was my favorite for years. The owners have been brought out to new owners. When I asked about that I was told the woman just worked there. That is a lie. The quality of food is horrible especially the General TSO chicken. I will not order from there any longer. Moved to the area in '04 and used to get from across the street practically (kah wa) for years till it started getting inconsistent. Started getting from here when they opened and havent looked back. Its always hot, delicious, friendly, and consistent. Here are their bests in my mind: 1. Hot and sour soup- best ive ever had. Deep rich flavor, hot as hell, loaded with veg, chic, and curd. Vry good wonton soup too. 2. Fried dumplings - also very rich, juicy and great. 3. Honey chicken- sweet, crispy!, and great 4. Mushu- ok, here its not as 'traditional' in that its a wee sweet, but I still get it all the time, including tonight which is what prompted the review after all this time. Tip- order xtra pancakes & sauce cause they give you a TON of the dish itself 5. Sesame chicken- deep flavor and great 6. Orange chicken- i like it so much that when i order over 40 and earn a free general tso, i ask to sub with this instead and they always accomodate. Lastly, if you get delivery like I do most times from here, they have some of the friendliest drivers Ive ever had from any delivery. Hope this helps someone out there, I always say how good certain places are and never write a review, but hopefully that changes, and this place really deserves the raves. Heelok is not your average Chinese Take-Out restaurant. I can't speak for Heelok delivery times, as I always pick-up from there but I can speak for the quality of their Take-Out food. Remember, we're comparing Take-Out restaurants and not authentic sit-down Chinese restaurants. Heelok is probably the best service and Chinese Take-Out food I've had since I moved to South Jersey. The ingredients are fresher than the competition. The food tastes like it's made-to-order rather than "heated-to-order." You can tell with the fried rice, whether it's been fried multiple times or not. It's not greasy and overly salty like other establishments. The food is ready quickly. The restaurant is extremely clean and I can definitely see many people eating here on their lunch break. The service is always friendly and they always remind you to take your free soda with your lunch special. A small gesture, but always appreciated. read more

Food wise, you're not getting anything different from what you'd get anywhere else. Its a local chinese food place. The slight difference here is that the environment is really nice. Its super clean and spacious on the inside and the staff are very nice and friendly. Theres really not much else that can be expounded on because the food is the same you'd get from almost every other chinese food place, but I do prefer Heelok when I'm trying to SIT DOWN to enjoy lunch. read more
