This restaurant was in the same complex as a new dentist I was seeing and my BF recommended we grab takeout from it for dinner. It was in walking distance, we were hungry and we did zero research or peeking at reviews on it but we said let's live on the edge ... OOOOOMGGGGG are we glad we did bc this was honestly the BEST Chinese takeout we've had since moving to the area! The freshness of the ingredients and the balance of flavors were top tier and there was literally little to no oil used in the preparation which was great bc most takeout I've had has unfortunately been oil laden. We agreed that Mulan was now OUR TAKEOUT CHINESE RESTAURANT and was totally worth the drive (it's about 20 minutes from us). Oh and of course it has the "perfect" Yelp 3 1/2 star rating ... I learned that when it comes to non-American food, you can bet your life that if a place has a 3 1/2 star Yelp rating it's HITTING because it means that there's a 99.99% chance that it's "ethnically approved" which alternatively means it's "too much or too little" something for others ... and the star rating proved to be true yet again! This is the worse tofu I've ever had. I've been ordering tofu for a while from many Chinese restaurants and I don't know what these people did here. It's soggy and falling apart and the broccoli tastes like seafood which is not what I was expecting as a vegan. The tofu is sitting on water and not a sesame sauce. Typically I order it with a thick sauce and not this nasty soggy mess. Never again will I order from here. Would give no stars but this was not an option. Totally dissapointed AND had the audacity to charge an extra $2 for broccoli that tastes like the ocean. read more

Probably going to have to go back at least one more time. Wanton soup and fried dumplings were great. The Mongolian beef was very good as well. The lo mein was kind of meh. Service was fast and friendly, good prices and great portions. read more

Best food ever! It's such an underated spot to visit for some devious Chinese food! The service was amazing, and the owners were some of the nicest people ever! The chicken that I ordered came out in 3 whole seconds! I wish I was joking! The restaurant is also very clean and very aesthetic! I can't believe this is a 3-star restaurant. This is one of the best places I have ever eaten at. LITERALLY AMAZED!!!! I also met the owners daughter when I was there, and she is one of the sweetest, most beautiful little girls I've ever seen. This would be our closest Chinese place to visit however recently I decided to try another establishment nearby which had an overall higher star review. I don't want to name the other place. My husband wanted his usual from Mulan and I wanted to try the Mongolian beef. Both were just okay and not what we expected. This was the worst Chinese food I have ever had in my life. The egg roll was not crisp; the won ton soup had the heaviest doughiest won tons I have ever eaten; the hot and sour soup was very bland. The pepper steak had no flavor and the shrimp chow mein was a joke; a few small shrimp and lots of celery, onions and some other unknown. We ordered from this place because it is convenient but even convenience isn't worth what they have to offer. Very good Chinese, and very reasonably priced. I particularly like the lunch specials- kung pao chicken is very good, and my family tells me their shrimp dishes are excellent as well. No idea why people don't like this place. I live right down the street so I visit for convenience, but I have never had a problem with their food. It tastes good, it's inexpensive, and it's always ready on time.
