Really nice park - they have a lake with turtles, ducks, and swans. It does smell pretty bad though - maybe from the buildup of moss. They have a few gazebos with tables at the playground for the adults while the kids play. They have a big picture board of Mayer-Johnson symbols for those with special needs. And the playground itself is great - my kids loved it.

Truly a lovely gem I got to experience today. The museum is one floor with two galleries, it took me 30 mins to see everything. Right now it is free admission due to a donation by Bank of America. I did make reservations online, but I don't think you really need to at 12pm ( when they just open). You can donate $ on your way out to help the museum. The parking is a tad small for the museum,so come early. I actually walked around the grounds since I got there before they opened. The park has a 911 memorial, Chapin Rainbow Stage ( live shows in the summer),gazebo, wildlife, ponds, river, and small bridges. I truly had a nice time visiting. Next time I would bring lunch a sit at a table. Great place, definitely come.

Fair today at Heckscher Park in Huntington. It was a really big one with many merchants spread out all around , including by the lake and entertainment by the stage. Yep I bought some nice things. Other places I took a card or flyer and I even saw BSA for Suffolk set up with archery activities. It opened at 10 am though we were there around lunchtime. Lots of people, families and dogs on this beautiful October day. Many different merchants at this one. From a lawyer who change jobs to bake , to two ladies hand making beautiful knit and crocheted items. Hard to find parking, kept track of streets and with a little help from locals we found our way around and back( see all pix) .

Was a lovely little spot in Huntington to either walk, sit or listen (there was a concert going on while I was there). Looking forward to the playground coming this summer!

A beautiful and serene park on the outskirts of the village. A great place for a stroll around the lake. Public restrooms near the fully fenced in playground that is great for small and bigger kids alike. Also home to a great museum, although small - the Heckscher Art Museum. $5 suggested entrance fee - a bargain. They feature local artists of current and yesteryear. They also showcase amazing Long Island high school artists. I love this! A great way for students and the community to see the amazing art our local teens are creating. Come to Heckscher to be inspired, sit by the lake in contemplation, be inspired at the museum, or to grab a cone from the ice cream man usually hanging out by the playground. In previous years they have had concerts at the Harry Chapin outdoor amphitheater. A little slice of heaven.

We visited Heckscher Park during the turnip blossom season last year. There was a great variety of colorful turnip and it was very beautiful. The park is not big but well organized. The facilities are maintained and the lake is clean.

Recently, I've been looking for nice parks in the Woodbury area to spend some time with my family. We decided to make the drive to Heckscher park, which was around 12 min away. At first, we were disappointed. All we could see was a baseball field and an empty grass patch. As we walked inwards, we finally noticed the park! The park is a lot larger than it looks like from the outside and on the map. It is tucked within the neighborhood and behind the baseball field. The actual park is lush and beautiful. There are peaceful honking geese everywhere (watch out for the poop!), cute turtles, calm waters, and plenty of places to sit down and admire nature. In addition, there's a playground for the children with swings and those spinning wheel things. Definitely drop by here on a peaceful afternoon! My family has found our go-to spot now.

This 18-acre park was a gift from August Heckscher (1848-1941) and wife Nannie to the town, population 203,264 (2021). It has tennis courts, playground, a playhouse, a museum, 9/11 memorial and a pond filled with fish, koi, turtles and gooses.

What a beautiful park to walk around in There's a beautiful pond with fountains in it that run until it gets too cold. There is a half mile or so path around the pond where you can take a walk. There are ducks and swans and turtles in the pond. It is very relaxing. Although I have never been in it, I hear the art museum is nice as well. Another aspect of the park that I have never personally experienced is the playground. It looks like a fun place for children to play. I also noticed there are plenty of places of adults to sit in the playground area. Overall, this is a great park. I enjoy it and recommend it.

This is a lovely, lovely walking park! I'm going to estimate a little under a mile to circle the pond. The park is landscaped well and beautifully maintained. There is a playground with swings and such for the kids. Expect flowers and small wildlife (squirrels, ducks, turtles, etc). There's a museum too but I don't know anything about it. Perhaps not a destination, but this park is great for a stroll if you work in, live in or visit the area. You're also around the corner from Downtown Huntington with plenty of restaurants and shopping. I believe it's street parking only.

This is one of the best parks on Long Island. I love how you can walk around it as many time as you want and not get bored of the scenery.

This is a beautiful little park in the middle of Huntington Village. Lots of trees and kiss. It's nice to walk around when it is 69° out. Don't text and walk or you might get goose poop on your shoes!! Lots of people with strollers walking around the lake without masks on. There are three tennis courts that are in good shape! Nice dirt path for getting my steps in! They even have a baseball diamond!

The park is a gem in the community. It is nestled in a quiet neighborhood of Huntington. It has a beautiful man made big pond with very peaceful ambiance that you'll wanting to stay longer. Playgrounds, sports fields and little gardens are few of what you and your family could see and enjoy. Came here today to enjoy the annual tulip festival - a family oriented community event. Lots of activities were there to explore- from crafts to food and music. I have no little children anymore and I am missing those same kind of family days. I enjoyed the small art museum next to the park. There's a selfie booth that can be shared with social media. Cool! A good stop over place when you are in the neighborhood.

    Is there an entrance fee?

Absolutely not. It's a walk in and through park. Parking at peak times can take a few minutes though there is plenty of on street parking, no official lot

After purchasing our tickets at a dockside tent, where various souvenirs were also being sold by the volunteers, we boarded a small boat for a 10-minute ride to the Lighthouse. The boat ride through Huntington Harbor was absolutely lovely - weather was warm, sunny, and clear, the water was smooth, and the views were fantastic. Arriving at the Lighthouse, we got off the boat on a floating dock and, after a brief introduction, began the guided tour with two tour guides. The first tour guide took us to the second floor of the lighthouse, out onto the landing, and up into the very top of the lighthouse where the light itself it, and was very thorough in his explanations and seemed enthusiastic about his tour. He was very knowledgable. The second tour guide told us about the living quarters of the Lighthouse and was also informative. All of the volunteers were very friendly and were clearly very interested in their work and very knowledgeable about the Lighthouse. After the tour, we returned to the boat and headed back to shore. All in all, the entire experience took exactly one hour, from initially boarding the boat to returning to shore. The suggested donation for the tour is $15 for each adult, but they accepted $20, and we bought a magnet for $3. The tent in which to purchase tickets and souvenirs is located at the end of the parking lot of Gold Star Beach in Huntington, just by the dock. There were signs indicating that a parking permit was required and that Huntington residents could purchase a seasonal or daily pass and that non-residents must pay a daily fee and display a tag; however, there was no one at the gate when we pulled in, and though we waited for someone to come, no one ever appeared, so we parked. We saw someone at the gate as we boarded the boat. We didn't have any problem with our parking, perhaps we just lucked out. The Lighthouse was beautiful and is nicely maintained. We really had a fantastic time. Our only complaint is that on the way back from the Lighthouse, the boat seemed much too crowded, to the point where we were really seated directly up against each other. However, I think the same number of people were on the boat when it headed to the Lighthouse, so I think the issue was more that no one was telling people to sit on both front and back of the boat or asking people to move around - because as we disembarked, I noticed that there were 12 people at the front and only 2, who were sitting with plenty of room, at the back.

We come at least once a week to play with other kids her age and she always has a great time. Seems to be a family park with so many toddlers running about. The jungle gyms are separated by age category and the swings all are in good working order. A rubber floor mat ensures that the children won't hurt themselves during the inevitable falls they encounter. The much larger section of the park contains the playing fields for soccer and field hockey- when we grow a little more, we will update our review to tell you about the meticulous fields we see on the other side of the fence.... The park includes two synthetic athletic fields, a practice area, and a playground for little ones and a nice parking lot. It's a great open area for kids to get all their boisterous energy out and adults too. It conveniently connects to Froehlich preserve as well. There's an interesting statue put there in memory of a Lloyd Harbor girl killed by a drunk driver in Texas in 2005. She was 13 years old and had been active in the Cold Spring Harbor Soccer Club. The Mohlenhoff Nursery property was slated to become a bus depot and repair yard for the South Huntington School District but thanks to dedicated and caring residents and a tireless effort by the Cold Spring Harbor Soccer Club, they got the land through its Open Space Preservation Program.
