There's one right off of W Rogues Path and another behind Breezy Park. The bare autumn trees made it easier to find. The South side has one straight trail that leads to the railroad tracks. The North side contains the few little farms inside growing organic wonderful produce which is all donated to Long Island's food pantries. They have a little bee sanctuary in there too. The Friends of Huntington Farmland maintain it. The group's mission is to protect drinking water and enhance open space and its wildlife for the education and enjoyment of the community. Once you come upon this natural setting, you'll feel an immediate sense of relief from the cramped buildings so common to the Huntington Station area. You can enjoy a wonderfully calm, natural atmosphere just jogging or biking back and forth the small stretch of road that borders the preserve. Some large homes with big yards line Pulaski Road (but no where as impressive as many, many other parts of Long Island) but that doesn't interfere with the peace you can enjoy here. Thank goodness for little spots like these. They're especially important for young people to take a break from their televisions and Xboxes or whatever they're glued to these days, and without having to participate in competitive sports just to enjoy the outdoors. You can actually hear yourself think over here.

It's not a huge preserve so the all trails recommended trail has you going back and forth a few times to get a mile and a half in. It got a little confusing for me but I managed it. There's no water to see but it's still a nice tiny little trail, plenty of trees.

This park is right off of Jericho Turnpike and has been here forever…read more Took my two teenage boys for a late morning hike. My mom (who grew up in the area) asked me where we were going. When I told her, she asked if we planned on fishing. At the entrance of the park is a large shallow still pond where they allow kids to fish. On our visit there were quite a few and we saw a boy reel one in! The parking lot is more spacious than previous reviewers stated and there's an easy kiosk to pay the entrance fee. Once past the restored manor house, (which we didn't explore) and shallow fishing ponds, there's a pretty extensive network of trails through some very nice mature woods. Trails are marked but they're still confusing (how can the green trail be going in 3 different directions?). Mix of paved and unpaved trails with a lot of bridges and benches scattered throughout. We came pretty close to some deer and saw a woodpecker. Make sure you spray yourself well because I'm sure ticks are a problem here due to the large presence of deer. Overall nice and historic park. Would recommend if in the area.

It was a nice experience to walk the grounds near the water features which at one time where old mills. If you enjoy some mild hiking in a controlled environment with plenty of signage to lead you back to the parking area I recommend this place. Some of the hiking trails were pretty to traverse and I truly felt like I was in the forest.

Tx to the many of individuals, Staff and sponsors who serve there and Volunteers for this 2025 international monumental event. They each get 5 stars. Police, Military, Army Golden Parachute Jumpers , Troopers , Security, First Aid including a Mother's station and the great transportation people, (tx Suzanne) restaurants and kind people making things work. Maps both physical and QRs. Beautiful well kept grass and a crew keeping the place clean. Bravo to Citi Bank for their golf activities- Put Put and Vertual - phone Charger stations, a real Bar, places to sit and AC and photo shot spot. Thumbs up to the hard working volunteers at Delaware Patillon Restaurant C-9 , so many diligently work behind the scenes and runners to put lunch foods and drinks out for the many visitor's coming to this event.( see pix)

I think Stillwell is one of the closest hikes on LI that would kind of compare to upstate or Mountain hikes. I think it's more for mountain biking but you can hike it as well. The trail is pretty and it covers a lot of mileage. I liked it but if you're used to hiking something flat you might want to avoid this trail.

Needs to be better marked; there were trail blazes but they were a little confusing. We really wanted to stay out of the way of the bikers and it was difficult without understanding the trails. This is a lovely park with a huge open field in the center -- not sure if it is a play field or not since it was covered in snow. We will return to see it in different seasons.

I had a quick change of plans yesterday when I was out in the Huntington area, so I decided to stop here, because it was on the way. I figured that with the millions of trees here, there must be some fall color. There was, but you had to seek it out. Early on you will see a junction, well signed that says the foot path is to your right. Heed that, because if you bear left you may have my experience of just missing an idiot going full tilt on his racing bike with inches to spare. The trails were mainly gentle, but the state might want to send somebody in to pick up candy wrappers and McDonalds wrapping relics. This is a park that I would only visit in the fall, so maybe next year I will be happier with the experience.

The Betty Allen Twin Ponds Nature Park is a great place to go to get away from it all without…read morehaving to go too far. Tucked away on 25A, there is a sign, but once you see it, you're probably passing the preserve by! You can find it, and you should visit, as it is definitely going to be worth your while. Admission is free, and it is open year round. There is a parking lot, and I have never seen it get super crowded. During the Spring and Summer seasons, you will see a few people walking around, and a few parents enjoying the day with their children. Otherwise, it's just a plentiful amount of trees, clear walking trails and a direct path to the water. I'm not sure if dogs are permitted, but I have seen a few people walking theirs. This never caused any type of difficulty. Everyone was enjoying their day and taking in the fresh air and sunshine. You can get lost here, despite the preserve not being incredibly expansive. There is a readerboard with maps and paths in the parking lot to facilitate your experience. If you lose your way listen for the cars on 25A, and you will find the parking lot. Trust me! This is a very interesting preserve, as it features dirt paths, a great deal of greenery and many beautiful wildflowers during peak seasons. There are 30 acres for you to explore. The air quality is fantastic, as can be witnessed by the plethora of lichen growing on the bark of the many trees including a surplus of white birch. The paths will lead you to a sandy area with different kinds of bushes and back into another portion of the preserve. Here is where it gets even more exciting. If you keep walking, you will reach the water! It is just a lovely view. There is a bench, where you can just sit and take in the scenery, under the shade of the many trees. There is a small area of marshland prior to the actual water, however, you can venture forth. You will probably encounter friendly boaters, locals and neighbors also simply taking it all in. This is just a wonderful place, where you can escape the daily hustle and collect your thoughts. Highly recommended. Enjoy!

Okay, my bad here! Grew up in South Huntington and never visited this side of the park before. Had…read moreonly visited Jayne's Hill from Reservoir Road, or walked the flat fields on the West side. Waking New Year's morning , I went on All Trails for moderate 1st day hike before visiting family in Melville. Noted the Jayne's Hill Trail with the distance I was seeking, about 2.5-3 miles and made my way there. My experience was a serene ans scenic, if somewhat slippery walk as some of the trail was hardpack with an ice glaze. I enjoyed the challenge of finding purchase and having to be mindful of my steps. The terrain was varied, flat, winding, hilly in spots, but I would say easy for anyone. Reaching the summit, no longer ocn and sound views even with the bare trees, but enjoyed the nice memorial to WW. I liked this park enough to return aa few days later to do a longer trail, about 4 miles, which I extended by do some off trail wandering. There is a section that is high above Melville and South Huntington with some lookouts over the neighborhoods surrounding the Whitman Shoppes. Will certainly return as there seem to be additional trails to explore!

The trail itself is about 3 miles, and the marked trail made it easy to complete. Although there's not much no see up top, my boyfriend and I did get some photos of deer and horses.
