I found this place by accident while looking for things to do in the area on google earth and had to pay it a visit. Its an unassuming building on the side of the road with a bumpy parking lot. Inside its like a little country store with various pickles, spices and cooking supplies. But we arnt here for that we are herte for the crackling and it did not diappoint. Big fat chunks of fried pork with attached fat, of so good. We ended up getting $7 dollward worth - its all weighed out so you can get as much or as little as you want, boudin balls and a hot link. All was delicious and hot. I recomend a visit there for the food but also the lady working in there was hilarious and we had a great chat. Only reason not to give it 5 is that the pork crackling was kind of expensive but honestly still well worth it read more

For starters, they didn't have hardly anything I wanted, and it was not even lunchtime. Second, the Boudin balls were so salty and drenched in seasoning you couldn't eat it. Third, the Cracklins were like they've been sitting out for three or four days. They were not hot or fresh, and rockhard. And to really top it all off the lady taking my order, seemed like she couldn't have given any more f**ks. Definitely will not be back and I forewarn people traveling through to go to the casinos. Drove out this way to go to the casino. On the way saw this little shack that said it had Cracklin and Boudin. So, I got excited to try it out. On the way back we drove up through the drive-through and waited for about 10 minutes. It was an older lady and an older man working so we figured we would be patient. However, when we did place our order we had to tell the man many many times. We put an order for one pepper jack Boudin ball, one regular Boudin ball, one smoked link of Boudin, and some Cracklin. The Boudin Ball was pretty good, a bit spicy but not too much to burn your mouth or tummy. However they forgot our regular Boudin ball and we paid $16.07. Definitely way too expensive for one Boudin ball, a link and some crackling. The crackling was nasty could not even chew it was messing with my teeth. And on top of that I'm very upset because I am missing a Boudin ball. I will not be coming back here again. One star only for the pepper jack boudin ball. Waste of money don't step foot. read more

We got the boudin frozen and some cracklins for the road trip back to Alabama. The crackins were amazing! And we grilled the boudin a few days after we got home, it was amazing as well. I have sense ordered a half gallon of the cracklins and can't wait till they get to me. The seasoning in on point in everything that we tasted in the shop. The service was amazing. First, I'll say that while the food isn't as good as it was before the place was renamed Heberts, it's still good food. So, if you pass by before 3 pm, then it's definitely worth a stop. And "before 3 pm" is why I've given it such a low score. I've always felt that a business has to adhere to it's own opening hours. Some people will go out of their way to find out a place is closed when their signs say they should be open. This happened to me today. I got there around 4 pm. While the store was technically opened, the kitchen was closed. I drove 25 miles specifically to get boudin from here and I'm told they have none left because the kitchen closes 4 hours before the store does? What, do they expect to hold food under a heat lamp for 4 hours? Based on the look of the food under those heat lamps, that's exactly what they are doing. That's not only a quality issue, that's a food safety issue. They should be inspected asap. I hope they come to their senses and go back to the way they used to do business, because this used to be an amazing place. I hope the owners rethink how they do things. At the very least, close the store when you close the kitchen. And NEVER serve 4 hour old food, you WILL kill someone! read more

Not all bad boudin comes from Texas. Herbert's in Kinder has overpriced poor quality Boudin. The casings are undercooked, meat stuffing is poorly seasoned and the rice has crunchy undercooked parts. read more

This place used to be called the Boudin and Cracklin Express. It is now called Hebert's Boudin and Cracklins. It has a sister store in Henderson, LA which also used to be Boudin and Cracklin Express. I am not particularly fond of the boudin. A wee bit too spicy and kind of mushy, lacking texture and consistency. But I could give this place five stars just on the merits of their cracklins. Absolutely the best anywhere I have eaten, and I have eaten at many places. I guess there may be better somewhere... I would like to know. read more

We drove 35 minutes out of our way to grab some cracklins, we were on schedule to arrive 10 minutes before they closed, but we arrived a little earlier than the gps said and had 15 minutes before they closed. Stopped by this place a couple weeks ago. Lady was not very friendly at all. Spent almost $14 on boudin and cracklings. Cracklings were great. I would definitely eat them again.
