OMG. Management here is horrible. At 11:00 on a Tuesday all of the 15 items or less lanes were open, but only 5 regular lanes were open. People were stacked 5 deep; one lane had 8 people in it. I was in line 10 minutes before I was able to move. People with frozen items saw them begin to melt. There was no sign of ANY EMPLOYEE other than the cashiers and baggers. There were so many of us we completely clogged the space; no one could walk thru to get in the aisles behind us. I tried calling Customer Service to request the store to open more lanes and it was a nightmare. The first time I got disconnected. The second time I was sent to an extension and was disconnected. The third time I specifically asked to talk to the store manager and was sent to a number that rang more than 30 times before I gave up. When I called a fourth time I was informed they were having "phone issues" and told the agent I truly wanted to talk to someone so let's try an assistant manager. Again I got to a line that rang and rang. I decided to be sneaky and called the Deli. Finally some assistance! Someone there reached out to an employee who it turns out manages the check out area and should have been there all along. SERIOUSLY!! This entire process took more than 20 minutes. My cold items were lukewarm. I can only imagine what happened to the frozen items of all of the customers around me. I'm very disappointed. I'm actually concerned if I should consume the cold products I purchased. Um, HEB, how about a refund on those items? I'd like to know why no one in charge noticed the log jam in the check out area and realized action needed to take place. MAJOR FAIL. There is a better HEB on Whitestone. Do not use their delivery service. Had over a $400 order never show up as the driver I guess decided they deserved free groceries. Heb will attempt if your lucky to send you a new driver and re gather the items, however they will decide to just not bring you what your ordered or not give you the quantity or get you something completely different. An absolute nightmare. Definitely do not recommend their delivery service. I am very grateful to have such a large HEB close by for grocery shopping. This location has: -pharmacy -floral center with balloons -garden center -bakery -fish and meat counters -large "meal simple" section -Sushiya sushi counter They recently refinished the parking lot which has been a big improvement with new speed bumps and bright lines for parking spaces and cross walks. I love that they added a large cart return in front of their double-doors on the left side entrance. While this store does have a good selection for shopping, I was sad to see some of my regularly purchased items vanish, seemingly permanently. That said, all of their members are very helpful of you need to find an item or a suggestion for a recipe or product. read more

Thought I lost my billfold today, December 27th, and I went back to the store, and Sydney, who I guess is either a manager or security, dug thru the cameras and told me that she saw me put it in my front pocket (a blundering idea) and watched me all the way to the car. This was incredibly invaluable assistance and I applaud her commitment to excellence and her kind, caring and understanding manner. It went a long way towards helping me locate, and I did. Today my wife and mother stopped for some daily shopping. After paying for all their items. They preceded to exit. The shopping cart would not pass through the exit door because the cashier forgot to activate their receipt. Showing they paid for all their items. They were approached by security and management they immediately put a wheel stop on their cart and began treating them as they were not customers but as Shop lifters. We have been customers purchasing thousands of dollars years buying baking supplies outside of our home food and other supplies. This was taking way too far way to quickly without an knowing if they paid or not. Once they presented their receipt. If I could give this location a negative 5 stars I would. Beware of their manage Jennifer. She is irate and out of control. She attacked me when I was grocery shopping and kept telling me how I should feel lucky she let me in her store. She even told me to "shut up and stand in line". When I asked her to leave me alone she continued to stand several feet away from me insulting me in front of other customers. I tried to pay for my items and leave but she refused to let me so that way she could continue to berate me in front of other customers. This experience was so bad even the other employees feared for their safety. As a veteran, teacher and now former long-term customer I cannot fathom what they are teaching these people for customer service. Do yourself a favor and don't come to this store. Go to Walmart or target if you value being treated with dignity ambiance is terrible too. read more

The Texas age-old question, what the heck does that stand for of which there are 2 theories. First, it's the founders initials and the other theory it stands for Here Everything's Better. Regardless of the what it stands for, HEB on 183 in Leander is a great grocery store to make the majority of your purchases. Now people should realize with all conveniences come drawbacks. HEB is huge, probably the largest freestanding grocery store I've been to and having lived in 5 different states, that's saying something. So, you need to zip in and grab an onion at 11am? Well guess what, you'll be parking downtown! Ok I'm being hyperbolic to amuse myself. But then comes the lines, even the self-checkout, always the lines. Why is it busy at 9am on Weds? My final gripe is more of a question, do people really buy fake jewelry, non-sports clothing, etc at a grocery store? To me it's overkill as I just want groceries, but I'm a small voice in a big state. Ok now I'd like to make my observations about food. The Asian grill is decent! If you nab it straight off of the flattop it's better than average but good luck with that. While some I talk to like their sushi, I don't and every time I get it, I don't exactly enjoy it, but my girlfriend does. I would like to see a sandwich shop plopped right there where you get freshly shaved meats. Think about it "Fresh Boarshead subs!" They do it at Publix in the south so just a suggestion. The other meals you can purchase there are decent, such as soups, salads, etc. As for groceries they have a rather large and diverse selection other than produce. The mushroom selection is sparse. Want to pick up some woodear, loose shiitake, Oyster, Enoki, etc? Not here my dear, although they do have shitake packaged. I've hunted for exotic fruits such as dragon fruit, Buddha's hand, Star fruit etc but it's there on odd occasions which I can't figure out. Otherwise they carry the standard fair which is more in bulk than variety. I will say I'm impressed with the seafood selection. Scanning the isle and see mahi, grouper, catfish (yuck), salmon, etc. I bought the mahi and it was very good, not old or stale at all. The best thing, is this is just a small portion of what they have. As for beef, lamb, chicken etc no need to spend to much time as they have the best selection I've seen in a store. Chances are they have what you need. My overall assessment of HEB is it works well for it's target group, middle class Texas family looking for good prices on food that is pretty standard with having some "elegances" spread out enough to allow those who are adventurous to try something new. The shelves are well stocked, the environment clean and safe, and house made items such as breads, tortillas, soups, etc are very well crafted. My only issues are small for a big place, parking and checkout. Otherwise HEB is a good grocery store for the masses. read more

I can almost find everything that I need when doing my grocery shopping. A few things are more expensive than, say, Walmart, same brands and everything, but if you know what to buy there and what not to buy there, you can actually find some really awesome deals. The app is great too, because you can get recipes and clip your coupons before you even go to the store. I have been trying to get a prescription since about 9am. It is now 7:36pm. When you finally get to talk to a staff member they are disrespectful and treat you like a piece of garbage under their feet, this after they hang up on you while you are on hold for over 30min. Instead of just hanging up, the polite thing to do would be to state that they are no longer taking prescriptions. I bet a lot of people are moving to other pharmacies because of the attitudes of these staff members. read more

I don't understand why every time I come here, the store is dead but the lines to check out are insane. Tonight, the manager was literally doing everything possible to not work. Instead of opening a register (only 2 were open with lines past the floral section) he decided to play games and drive these carts around with another employee. I ride a bike 3 days a week to this HEB. The issue I have, and have spoken to customer service 8 different times now, is the employee smoking area, which is next to the bike rack. My wife was with me today and the smoke covering the bike parking was like a cloud along with the nasty music playing-meaning every explicit word squawking out of a cell phone. I have locked my bike in other areas in front of the store and have been told to move my bike to the bike rack, not to bring my bike inside the store and have had several items stolen off my bike $$. The shopping is great, no issues, however, customer service doesn't care about bikers and only smile and say they can't do anything about it or we will pass on your message. Randall's is not much better but Walmart seems to keeps their smoking employees away from areas customers enter and park. Wow, to compare HEB to Walmart is just wrong, but for my health it's better. Today, with my wife, we did go back into HEB to speak with customer service, the smoke was visible and you could smell it right out the door as we left, and again customer service said they could do nothing about it. I deal with it every time I visit, but when my wife spoke about it as we walked back to our bikes, that was enough to write this review. HEB, please pass this on to the Hero Way location. read more

The Leander HEB is an absolute clown show, every time I go to this store it's always a problem, whether it's the Grocery Store or their Pharmacy. I found out recently that the pharmacy was charging me full price when my insurance card was supposedly declined, why they never told me it was declined is beyond me. The cashier just treated me like I didn't have insurance, and that it was my problem, very sarcastic, and rude. Today I needed to just do a quick run in to buy groceries, pulled up to the next available cashier, he rang up my groceries, when I went to pay the card reader wouldn't take my card, the cashier just shrugged, acted like it was my fault, tried to scan it himself and shrugged again like he didn't know what to do. My card is fine, I used it at another store later, i told the cashier that the card reader was the problem, not my card, and he agreed with me, he then wanted me to type card number in, when I did it came up with an error, I left my cart, and walked out of the store. HEB really need to fix their card readers, it's so much of an inconvenience, I wasted my time, and I ended going to Randall's with no problems. I will never shop at the Leander HEB until they get their sh** together. read more

Very rude employees here over the past couple years. To the point where you check out and they don't even say hello or speak to you at all, just tell you your total while you stand there feeling unwelcome. Another time we left our orange juice at the bagging area after checking out and a customer ran it to us while we were walking over to the buddy bucks area. Not the bagger, the customer!!! They just weren't going to even attempt to bring our item to us even though we were only a couple registers away. The produce (especially bagged lettuce and salads) are constantly going bad long before their expiration date and having to throw it away, unopened. Other produce also goes bad QUICK at this location. Buy strawberries MULTIPLE times lately for our toddlers and they are covered in mold the next day. Also happens frequently with other fruits and vegetables. So if you don't eat your fruit or vegetables within one day, don't buy it here or you'll just end up throwing your money away. read more

Right On, HEB for taking action against and unpredictable event and making the best of it. Right now, since the COVID19 outbreak, fear and panic has caused a run on our local markets. The vendors are doing their best to keep our stores stocked properly. But demand is quickly over riding supply causing H-E-B to take action. Effective immediately 3/13/20, HEB stores have adjusted their operating hours from 8:00am - 8:00pm, allowing the employees to restock the shelves safely and efficiently. They have blocked off HALF of the curbside parking spots, I drove around for 5 minutes waiting for a spot to open up, I've been sitting here for 20 Minutes no order. I went with my wife to shop on a Sunday night all comfy and when people see me they avoid me but not little Allocca she was very nice. I never smile but she handed me a note with a heart while I was bagging our groceries, which I put in my pocket. I just read it just now. This location has fresh produce and stocked with my favorite items. Staff is always friendly and helpful. I always appreciate a clean store also. Only thing that I wish they carried are colored carrots. I always have to go to Whole Foods for those and they are my favorite. I also wished they celebrated St. Patricks Day cause my husband is Irish and we like to celebrate. So finding festive decorations can never be found here. HEB does always have fresh herbs and plants for my garden and the pharmacy is convenient. Found out my neighbor is a manager there so she always says hello when we run into each other. Check out lines can get pretty long sometimes but management is quick to squash the problem. There are always carts available when you need them and the sanitation wipes are always available as well. My parents speak of this store with great reverence. And honestly, post pandemic, I get it. The shelves are overflowing and every type of produce one could want is fresh and available. Also, love their new little home store, it's like Studio McGee went country. There's always an abundance of pro-Texas merch and the prepared meals are solid. Finally, as a certified Crazy Plant Lady, I am borderline offended at how many delightful plants are available any given day at half the price of what I would pay up north. I tried to reach out to Support to get a refund for the damaged items and I am literally being ignored after putting in several tickets to get my issue resolved literally no one has responded. This is a good HEB, though it depends on what you're coming here for. First the plusses: it's got a HUGE seasonal section, a gardening department, and even a selection of grills. There's also a couple oddball items that I don't see at many other places, like freshly made chicharrones - definitely the thing you need to shore up those weak-walled arteries with a little extra saturated fat. On the down side, there's a *lot* of construction to navigate when coming in. The parking lot is laid out oddly, with many 'choke points' when it's crowded, which it usually is. You're much better off planning to park a ways out and hike in when it's busy. I know, I know. Leander's growing, and this HEB is near the train station to boot. Still, it's a fine spot to do your grocery shopping if you plan ahead. read more

Had a horrible experience with cashier Nisa. She was like how many waters do you have and I said not sure my daughter put them in and she goes " well she's not saying anything " rudely . My daughter is deaf of course she's not answering you . The point is you don't have to be rude it's your job to scan the items in the first place whether or not someone can give you the amount of items they have . Then she proceeded to tell me how her church offered sign language and she's just too old to learn . Again disrespectful for the deaf community . This is why I will now only go to self checkout . I unfortunately come to this store a lot. It's the closest one to me and Walmart and Target are Not conveniently located. I can honestly say that for the last five visits, I have encountered some of the rudest cashiers you can imagine. You say hello and they mumble. You ask a question and they sigh as if it's an inconvenience. You have to play Sherlock Holmes sleuthing out the 'use by dates' because they'll sell you food that expires in a day or two. True that! Gross produce section as always. Most of my produce rots the next day. The parking lot is always full during the days and are dangerous to pedestrians.
