I moved home to Hilo from San Francisco to continue my treatments for Breast Cancer. I thought…read morethat I was leaving one of the greatest cities for Complementary Cancer Care, and that I wouldn't be able to replace my massage therapist, acupuncturist, Qi Gong master...and the remarkable healers that were experienced in cancer care. I was so grateful to be able to replace my massage therapist. I found Howard with White Ginger Healing right in HILO through my mom who is a Breast Cancer Survivor!! Howard is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist with several years experience in Oncology Massage...it is downright amazing that I can talk to him about my chemo drugs and he knows of the side-effects and techniques to help me handle them. He knows the pathology of different cancers from a trained medical point of view, and he is a treasure chest of information on how to improve my lifestyle in general to help combat side-effects of treatments. Before I was diagnosed I was half-way through my Masters in Chinese Medicine. I was so pleased to discover that Howard uses acupressure points that correspond to the meridians that may need a boost - like for a weakened immune system, or a release - like for high toxicity in your liver. For all that I do to destroy cancer cells in my body, the one thing I must do on a weekly basis is give back to my body through massage. It is truly a blessing to find a practitioner like who Howard choses to specialize in Oncology massage due to an inherent passion to help those who most need it. Thank goodness for people like him.

I definitely recommend him to anyone looking for muscle relief. He is courteous and genuinely concerned with your well being. He has helped maintain the pain I experience in my neck. There are days I go in achy and leave feeling NO pain which is absolutely wonderful! He is familiar with different techniques to relax your achy muscles and even relieve headaches. Although, it helps if you offer input during therapy so try not to get too relaxed as you may even fall asleep as I have done on several occasions. Howard also sends out newsletters with articles to help with your well being and to help people stay informed and educated. He also sometimes runs specials for hourly massages which make it even better! :D

I can't say enough beautiful things about my experience with Denice Murphy's acupuncture services…read more From the moment you meet her, you feel it this genuine warmth, calm, and compassion that immediately puts you at ease. She isn't just practicing acupuncture she's truly caring for people on a deeper level. Denice is an absolute master of her craft. Her knowledge, precision, and intuitive understanding of the body are incredible. Every session feels intentional, healing, and tailored specifically to what you need physically, mentally, and even emotionally. You can tell she's not just going through the motions, she's fully present, fully invested, and truly passionate about helping you feel better. What makes her stand out even more is who she is as a human being. Kind, grounded, and deeply genuine she creates a space where you feel safe, respected, and cared for. That kind of energy is rare, and it makes all the difference. I walked away not just feeling relief, but feeling renewed, lighter, clearer, and more balanced. If you're looking for someone who is both incredibly skilled and a truly beautiful soul, Denice is it. I'm beyond grateful to have found her. Highly, highly recommend.

I'm not sure this is the same man who actually treated me, the photo looks a bit different, but…read moreit's the same address as I went for my session. He spoke of his girlfriend so he was not "married with kids" like his profile says (unless a part time dad from a previous marriage) nor is there a "we" practicing there, as his profile says. And he definately does not have 3 other clinics unless they are in his past. His description says "We combine training in Qigong, Craniosacral Therapy, Bodywork, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming in each session. We also offer nutritional therapy coaching and nourishing foods and beverages to take home." none of which happened for me. I did receive an acupuncture treatment ( without even checking my pulse...which I found odd and a bit scarry,) accompanied by lots of time doing muscle testing and Bach flower remedies... which he insisted I take even though I had told him I don't believe in them. He gave me lots of shoulds as far as telling me 90 % of my supplements wont help me, but never explained to me the whys of anything, so I could not understand how to work with the info. Everything he said was supposed to be fallowed in blind faith which just I didn't feel intuitively called to fallow....especially after his belief in Bach Flowers (I belive in the memory of water, just not Bach's interpretations as it does not reflect the plants herbal elemental medicinal qualities, and if it does not ring true on one level it won't ring true on any). As the session wore on I got the distinct feeling I was bothering him and he was quick to ask me to leave. Almost to the point of rolling his eyes as I asked a last couple questions before my time was up. he may be wonderful for somone more new age seeking aura work ( he appeared to be doing lots of that, although I did not notice a difference.) but Ive lots of experience in traditional TCM, and was hoping for more acupuncture with explanation. So it was disappointing. I think for others he may be great. just not my style, I need more participation in my own healing path. If I had been more assertive and articulate about trying to get my needs met better, he may have been able to meet them better, I'm not sure. I do wish him well.

Sometimes you'll hear "acupuncture doesn't work for me" - which really means, "the acupuncturist didn't work for me." If you've had less than stellar experiences, visit Alex at Hawaiian Integrative. Alex is a healer. Being in the man's presence is enough for most - his aura heals too. With needles, however, the healing powers of this shaman are amplified exponentially. Give the man one session, he'll make you a believer. Give him 10, and you'll become an evangelist. There's something really special going on at Hawaiian Integrative.
