Specialties
I am a licensed Acupuncturist with a Master's degree in Oriental Medicine, offering all aspects of a traditional Acupuncture practice including acupressure, herbs, qigong, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha and tui na massage.
I am certified in Medical Qigong and utilize this energy medicine as part of each acupuncture treatment. I also teach Qigong classes, which are sometimes held locally, here at my center. I have been a nationally certified massage therapist with specialized training in Tuina, a form of Chinese medical massage.
I am no longer taking any insurance other than that from the Veterans Administration. If you have an insurance policy that will cover acupuncture (please speak directly to your insurance company first), then I will be happy to give you a "super bill" for the cost of the treatment. You can use this special receipt to seek reimbursement from your insurance company.
A large part of my practice is dedicated to treating Veterans. I am one of the few acupuncturists in the area authorized by the VA to treat Veterans and as a Veteran myself, I feel this is my kuleana, my calling, to serve those who have served their country.
If you are Veteran, and interested in coming in for acupuncture - at no cost to you - you must first obtain an authorization from your PCP at the VA. This can sometimes be a cumbersome process, but I have been working with Veterans over ten years and can help to walk you thru it. Call me for more details. 238-0338.
History
Established in 2010.
I became the owner of East Hawaii Acupuncture, LLC in May of 2010.
While growing my practice, I have taught at the local acupuncture college, given multiple lectures at UH and participated in various workshops.
In 2014, my single room practice grew into a full service wellness center - of the first of it's kind in Hilo. Located in a beautiful, historic building on Komohana Street, I now share this space with another amazing healers. Together, we offer acupuncture, massage and chiropractic to the community.
I teach a variety of ongoing classes including Qigong, Meditation and Women's Studies both on site and off island. Most recently, I have been creating online courses in Empathy and Meditation.
I find tremendous pleasure in being able to offer our community a well-rounded practice to meet a variety of healthcare needs. Aloha - Cat

I have a rich & diverse background having worked many years in sales & customer service. I have an honorable discharge from the United States Navy. Over time I have been employed in both the federal & private sectors as well as having owned and operated 3 successful businesses.
What I love most about coming into the field of acupuncture later in life is that it has afforded me time to learn & grow as a person. All the experiences I've had, all that I have learned along the way, gives my practice depth and a large field of knowledge on which to draw upon to help my patients & my students.
Working with other health care providers under the same roof, gives our patients expanded choices for their healthcare. We have the ability to learn from each other, and in times of need, we can refer our patients to providers we trust & love. This makes you our number one priority when you walk in our door. Being a part of that is truly a blessing.
