Potentially racist encounter here. I would like a refund. Full experience below. I brought my bike up to the office and she insisted it wouldn't be stolen if I left it outside the door. She was so preoccupied about how much time this would take for me to find a bike rack downstairs due to "back to back" appointments. Why the f**k would I trust her word regarding the safety of my precious bike. After suggesting I come back another day, guilting me into "I drove here for you," and saying she called her next appointment to push to 9:40am (she did not since I was in front of her the whole time) ontop of me being desperate after a bad week, I suggested to put the bike inside her office which she agreed to. Looking back, I should've left because the purpose is to heal and how can I with this energy. And so begin the awkward convo about why I wanted acupuncture. She couldnt understand or pick up much of what I was saying due to lack of English so things I said I had to repeat or she didnt hear at all. Never go to a doctor that doesn't know your language fluently because then how are they supposed to treat you? Overall it was a quick 20-30 min acupuncture in a dark tight silent room. Shortest session I've ever had but she insisted "it's not about the time, it's about the results." Stayed on the table beyond my appointment time since she said her next appointment that she was preoccupied about "cancelled." She also mentioned right off the bat that she only accepted cash, which was not communicated when I booked the appt. The length of session was also not communicated prior. Anyways, if I had to run and go get cash, this would've been another reason she would've suggested "I come back another day." On top of that she didnt have full change so I get the vibe she was lying about the card machine not working...racism? Maybe but looking back on this, it seemed she was lying about many things and searching for any reason to not treat me. A waste of $75, but actually $77 since she didnt have enough change. Offered $2 off in next visit but I won't be returning. I would love a refund. read more

I never write any reviews and really hate to write this bad one but it's been 4 days after my treatment with Ming and I am worse than I started. I came in seeking treatment for my stiff neck and shoulder pain. Ming was friendly to greet me as I walked in, sat me down as I explained my issues with her. She nodded, then pulled out a ONE FOOT long needle and stuck it in my right forearm "horizontally" halfway up my forearm to my elbow. She explained this was a new treatment and it would only take 1 treatment to cure my issue while she wiggled the foot long needle in my forearm. May I remind you, my issue is stiff neck and shoulders, there's nothing wrong with my forearm! I have to admit, I was nervous going in due to my phobia with needles. But many of the Yelp reviews I read all raved about how painless the procedure was that I had to try. So my body went into shock and my hands went into a "rigor mortis"-like state where they clamped up and curled into fists. Ming stated I need to relax or else the treatment wouldn't work, but at this point, I had lost control of my body. I explained to Ming that maybe it's my phobia and nerve that caused this. Ming then stated in Chinese to me "You are such a delicate flower who can't endure pain. You must be so spoiled by your parents." .......um.....who says that?!!?!?! especially to a patient in pain and shock???!?!?!?!? Also, Ming did not have me complete an initial questionnaire nor did she work with my insurance (like other yelp reviewers stated) so I had to pay full price. At that point, I just wanted to get out of the place due to the traumatic experience. This is the 4th day after my treatment and my forearm is in extreme pain. I cannot lift heavy objects, cannot put any weight on it and I am feeling a tingling sensation down my finger tips. I suspect the foot long needle has hit my tendon or nerve. I went in expecting for some kind of relief for my neck and shoulder pain and instead what I received was ridicule and a injured arm. read more

Dr. Ming totally healed a chronic and degenerative back condition of 5 years in less than 30 minutes! I don't know how her "new" Accupuncture worked (I think it's akin to dry needling) but I don't care - it worked LOL! She saved me from surgery! After years of low back pain (HD and PN) and multiple doctors, I tried everything short of surgery including daily anti-inflammatory, patches, ointments and ES injections but it only got progressively worse. I even tried acupuncture elsewhere and it didn't work. I was skeptical and expected to be told it'll take weeks or months of expensive treatments for small results but after one session I was 60% better. Two more visits I was 90% better. It has been a month and I've stopped all medication and injections. Dr. Ming is a true healer and I would return to her for just about any chronic issues. I went here by referral from a friend. I was having serious back pain recently and the Chiro and massage I was getting seemed to only take the recovery so far. I went in with the hopes of help with Acupuncture and I was happy with the first treatment as I had visible improvement. Second treatment was even more improvement. What I notice is that it's seems like my body is addressing the issue on a more simplistic level. The Chiro just kept popping the same thing in place but with the Acupuncturist treating me it seems the same spot has less strain, less pain and requires only massage and it's actually getting much better. I've had acupuncture once in my life and it didn't do anything. The day before flying home for Thanksgiving I woke up with severe pains on my neck and shoulder. Willing to do anything to find some relief I made a same day appointment with Dr. Ming. I honestly felt extremely doubtful considering all the reviews seemed way too be good to be true... Within 12-24 hours the pain entirely went away. I was blown away, and that was even after being on a tiny overpriced American Airlines seat for 6+ hours. I saw Dr. Ming for neck related issues and I can finally turn my head without pain! I haven't had to take Tylenol or Advil and I'm not suffering from the awful headaches. I was able to relax my mind and focus on healing and I just know that the needles where placed in the neck and shoulder area for me. After that portion of the procedure, Dr. Ming used cupping on me to relax the tight muscles. I've had neck issues for more than two years with back and forth visits to various doctors. I have been suffering from Sciatica for many years now and have been in search of something that could possibly ease the pain. I have been going to Dr. Ming Dai for a couple of years when my back locks-up. Each time the problem is corrected. After bending over to get something out of the fridge I tweaked my back. Since I'm not Wolverine(nerd alert) I had to go see the doctor. He gave me some horse pills that didn't work. Thanks. I went back to see a different doctor and she said come back in 6-8 weeks if it isn't better. If I'm having the same extreme pain for even ONE more week I'd rather put my head in a guillotine and pull the rope. She gave me mega-horse pills and they worked TOO WELL. I couldn't do anything but sleep and I hated the feeling of being high and out of it. Enter Mighty Ming. I found her on the intrawebz and set up an appointment. As with all first appointments I arrived 20 minutes early for any possible paperwork. I was given three small sheets to fill out and and it took about five minutes. Within 15 minutes I was in a room talking to Ming and describing my lower back pain. She laid me down and went right to work. For my lower back she put needles in my lower back, behind my knee, on my forearm and a few in my hands. After three treatments(in about six days) I was basically back to normal, though I still had to take it easy. If this problem ever arises again I have a go to person. I found out about Dr. Ming from a coworker and decided to go visit her and receive a consultation. Her downtown office is located very close to where I live and work so it was very convenient. She was extremely knowledgeable about what techniques and combinations would help with my sensitive stomach. I have had problems with my stomach and stress for over 10 years and never could quite figure out a solution. She recommended a combination of acupuncture and massage specializing on certain points that are connected to my stomach. After 3 visits my stomach became less reactive to stress and diet, able to cope with stress, and have been more relaxed and able to concentrate with work and everyday life. It feels great to use a natural holistic approach instead of medicine with chemicals that only temporarily relieve the symptoms. The massage therapist is also a doctor as well and has "magical hands". I was not aware that there are points on the back that also affect the stomach. I used to visit Dr. Ming's office in Burbank regularly for a while for my chronic sinusitis. The acupuncture she gave me helped clear my sinus significantly. I have been going to Dr Ming for about 4 years She is excellent. She takes the time and listens to your problem and makes sure what the problem is. She gives you advice on foods and exercises. She uses lots of needles which I like. She is so gentle with the needles you hardly feel them. She has a great serene mannerism. She is a great acupuncturist. Stella always tries to accommodate you when making appointments. I would recommend her highly. I was taking synvic shots for my knee and couldn't take them anymore because my knee was swelling up from the shots. She started treating my knee and I have not had to take those shots anymore. When I start to feel some pain in my knee I go in and she takes care of it. My blood pressure has come down with the treatments. She is now working on my cholesterol. Let me start by asking if you go to an authentic Chinese restaurant where their chefs are non Chinese? Or a sushi bar where the sushi chef is not trained by a authentic Japanese sushi master who knows how to buy the fish, how to filet it, prepare it according to japanese traditions? Of course we all have been to these restaurant but for those with a discriminatory palate, we notice the difference! Not that any other ethnic chefs cannot deliver a good meal, but personally I just prefer the real authentic deal. I used this example to illustrate the following point. Ming acupuncture is a no thrill modestly furnish clinic on magnolia, east of the famous Porto bakery. Ming was a real doctor trained in western medicine practicing internal medicine in China for any years before she decided to practice acupuncture. Her background in medicine is utmost important in her understanding how acupuncture can heal ailments that western medicine might offer little relief. I was recommend to see her recently for blood pressure and number of other issues. After a few treatments, most of my ailments have been mitigated. If you want someone who really understand western and eastern medicine in order that acupuncture can provide an additional approach to curing your ailment, Ming is the one to go to. read more

In March of 2016, I accidentally twisted my left ankle & could barely walk. I went to Ming's Acupuncture for treatment. She looked at my red, swollen ankle and told me that acupuncture would help me a lot. She was so quick and skillful with her needles that I barely felt anything when the needles went in. After 2 weeks' daily treatments, my ankle recovered fully. During the treatments, I also told Dr. Ming my other health problems including cancer. She is very caring and passionate towards her patients. Since she has knowledge and experience in both internal medicine and acupuncture, she told me also what kind of food I should take according to my specific body situation, and what to avoid. She advises me to do more exercise as well. I have been going to Ming's Acupuncture ever since and taken her advice about food and exercise. My friends all tell me that I look more energetic now. And, I do feel stronger and healthier than before. The clinic is clean and comfortable. Soft, soothing music plays in the background of the treatment rooms which makes patients relax. I've suffered from upper back/shoulder/neck pain for a while now, and I walked in here on a whim. The acupuncturist here has been in practice for 30 years, in both the US and China. I did a combination treatment of acupuncture and massage, and after my first session I walked out with the pain completely gone! It was like magic. When the pain came back a few weeks later, I went in again, and after three sessions, it hasn't returned. Now I come in every few weeks for an hour long massage to keep my back tension at bay. The massage therapists here are really knowledgeable and will work with you to customize your massage. I've sought chiropractic and physical therapy for my issues with upper back pain, and nothing has worked as quickly and effectively as the acupuncture and massage I received here.
