Beware of Golden Rule Plumbing Heating and Cooling!!!!!!! I had a tech come out to check out my…read moreHVAC system and quoted me $1000+ on a part that cost around $100 to replace. BUT that's not the WORST part. The tech proceeded to tell me it would not be smart to invest in a system that would need to be replaced soon and that he can get a "System Engineer" (Sales Person) out here in the next few minutes since he is in the area. How convenient? Later I realized I that the System Engineer Sales guys park around the corner on purpose just in case the Tech calls them out. They have a few of these system engineers sales guys that way when Techs are doing service calls, they always have a sales guy (system engineer) in the area. I end up agreeing to have the system engineer "sales guy" come and give me a bid since it did not cost any extra. They both went down in the basement where the furnace was located and started measuring everything it took about 10 minutes for them to complete their measurement. Once they completed measurement, they came upstairs and asked me if I had a few minutes to discuss a few options on their tablet. They both proceeded to tell me how terrible my system was and that it needs to be replaced ASAP. Keep in mind it has been working absolutely perfect all last summer and great through this winter so I was a little skeptical about it suddenly going bad. They told me I can replace the furnace, but replacing both the furnace and the air conditioner at the same time is more beneficial financially. They showed me roughly around six options starting anywhere between $13,000 all the way north of $18,000. After seeing all of my options with Golden Rule, I told the guys that I want to get a couple more bids from a few more HVAC places. This is where my blood begins to boil.... The sales guy, a.k.a. the system engineer started his sales pitch stating that "getting multiple bids is actually not beneficial for the client" and that "it's not like the old days where every HVAC company was honest". He then proceeded to pull out paperwork and small objects stating that they are the only ones that use these reliable parts/material. Which got me thinking how do all these other HVAC companies exist and are successful if Golden Rule is the only one that uses top quality material and parts. It was incredible high pressure but when they noticed I wasn't budging on getting multiple bids, they tried to push the repairs down my throat just to walk away with something!!!!! When I declined, they ended up leaving very bothered and kept insisting that after I get the other quotes to call them and give them another chance..... I ended up calling two more HVAC companies to come and check out my system one being Schaal and the other being Des Moines Comfort and to my surprise, it was a completely different story. There was nothing wrong with my HVAC system as they showed me the air coming in and the air going out the temperature difference. Only one small piece had to be replaced and it was a couple hundred dollars. Please keep this in mind next time you need help with HVAC, and I can only imagine how many people thought that their systems were bad and ended up buying a whole new system from Golden Rule for tens of thousands of dollars. Always call multiple companies!

April 2022, Goering was assigned to fix our air conditioner heat pump unit thru a home warranty…read morecompany, where the policy came with the house purchase. They came first time, fixed it and it broke again. Same claim, same technician came a second time to fix. They said to get the AC to run, they had to bypass the breaker. This time the technician practically ran from the house to his van to take off. Two weeks later when the weather heated up, turned on the AC to have it trip the breaker and turn off. Same claim, same company had to replace the AC unit this time. The warranty company and Goering did not work with us on a replacement and we were given the most inefficient model. The front desk lady was rude and unhelpful. I had to call the warranty company to get a time scheduled for th AC unit to be put in as the communication from Goering is so poor. I asked how much warranty work Goering does for their business and it was significantly high. They warranty company does not care if you are rude to the client, as the client is not Goerings client. October 2023, find out when we had Golden Rule over that the heat pump AC unit that Goering put in was never hooked up to the heat pump unit indoor. Again, poor service and poor communication. we could have made another warranty claim for the heat pump unit inside if the technician knew what he was doing.

Corbin who initially came and talked to us was the most knowledgeable of the people we spoke with. Daren, Josh, and Thomas who came on the installation day were on time, polite, and efficient. well it isn't just this company but we have now been to six different hvac companies and over 22…read morehvac techs has looked at our air-conditioning unit. It has had 21 freeze ups in four years. today we called out a. nate certified. hvac tech. from another company. and he said the fix was. to block off. one of the intake vents. in the basement. where the furnace and air-conditioning unit is. and he said block off. half of one other intake vent also In the basement well usually when someone comes out and turns our unit back on from the freeze up it usually works for a few days well, i guess his advice backfired because it only ran for like two hours so i guess so much for nate certified techs modern came out and put in new a coils and a new blower motor like last november i believe and it didn't last long this spring and it froze up again modern was out i think at least five more times before they replaced the a coils and the blower motor but they couldn't fix the freeze up problem either so after six different companies and like 22 hvac techs over a four year period since no one has been able to fix it. it appears to me that we have a severe training problem with hvac techs in the des moines metro area we literally don't know what to do after six different companies and 22 different hvac techs. i guess we are still. looking for a solution. My daughter says we need to give today's. Nate certified technician. At least one more chance. But according to Google AI. It say it is impossible. For a unit to get too much intake air. So according to Google AI it says that the Nate certified technician is taking you completely in the wrong direction Update we think that we have an electrical problem that only happens when the HVAC tech are gone. Like maybe a bad contactor relay In the outdoor unit. But all of the HVAC techs seems to be pretty closed minded from all six of the HVAC companies that we have tried. They don't like input from the Customer I guess even a telecommunications engineer and former tech like me. I do know this nobody will ever fix this until they quit using the normal path and normal thinking We're gonna give yesterday' HVAC company another chance today. modern had like six shots at it. Maybe more and we still have the problem. Or we have found quite a few electrical problems in this house. We think that the previous owner. Did a lot of do it yourself work so maybe he wired in his own thermostat and maybe he wired it in wrong maybe we'll see if we can get today's HVAC techs to check for that Update we did have a very thorough review by an hvac company that is not involved with warranty company's come up with a couple of things he spent almost 3 hours investigating our system and gave us a very thorough report. He said our system is on the edge. For freeze up one of the things he said he thinks our system is slightly under charged but since it was very cool the day that he was out he said he will have to come back another day when it is warmer to get an accurate reading on the charge to make sure he also said since we were using a filter that was supposed filter out cat and dog hair he said this filter was slowing down the air going across our A coils and he said that was a major no no for a system that is freezing up. So he installed. And recommended. Different filter. That won't slow down. The air flowing over A coils. No other company caught this. He also said if these two things doesn't fix it. He has another other thing. That he can do. To totally flush out. The refrigerant. And put new refrigerant back in But it does cost $1000. So you would have to weigh that. Against the cost of a whole new unit. How come nobody else offered this to us. Right now it has been too cold to even run the air conditioner. So we haven't been able to test out what he did. But at least now we have some hope Don't understand how some of these other companies didn't come up with this stuff. Sounds like maybe the sixth hvac company is gonna get the job done. I will update some more. Later on.
