What a joke. I purchased a brand new HVAC unit years ago from Aspen Aire and its not worked…read morecorrectly since. The only reason I got it was because my furnace went out and I live in a mobile home. Not a lot of people work on mobile home units. I understand that. Lately it's been 76 or as high as 84 degrees in my home. Now ask yourself Aspen Aire, would that be acceptable in your home??? I've talked to Alex multiple times and emailed Craig and conveniently no one will call. They've said "it seems to be working" . At the start of this summer they found a huge HOLE in my ceiling that was never taken care of when the new unit was installed. They won't claim they made the hole but it wasn't ever finished until recently. I did get an inspection done and now it's concluded that possibly the duct work isn't correct. I will post this on every social media form to warn people against using them in the hopes of saving someone the mess I have.

Their service tech Brice showed up on time and we discussed servicing our furnace, two fireplaces and a hanging garage heater. Brice went to work and did a thorough job of maintenance and testing of our equipment. The package also allows a discount on parts if other service is required and priority dispatch. We hope to build a long-term relationship and reccomend their services to others.

Determined issue could be linked to air filter that needed replacement. Said we could go out to office and get them for reasonable price. Juan answered all questions in a professional and easy to understand manner. He was personable and friendly. While we were in utility room he answered question about water shut off valve. This is an example of resolving a question that was not part of reason for call. His employer should be grateful that Juan is with their company.

The technicians did a great job and I would give them five stars. However, the office manager was…read morequite disappointing. I received a call today stating that they never received payment for a service that was provided in August 2023, even though they did receive payment for another location that was serviced on the same day. This was due to them not writing down the correct email for the second location. I do understand that mistakes can happen and that payments are necessary to run the company. However, the way the office manager spoke to me about the payment was very unprofessional. It felt like she was the owner of the company. Due to this, I have decided not to call them back for any of my seven locations in Des Moines. I read on Yelp that "72 is about creating and developing relationships with our customers by providing superior service". However, this is not how they can build a relationship with customers. I have been working in customer service for the past seven years and I have never encountered anyone who has spoken to me in such a manner. I just hope that the owner, Kendel Richlen, reads this and takes action to improve his business for future customers.

But OMG, the price: $368 for 20-30 min of work to replace $45 worth of parts (that's if I buy them retail). So, $320 for 20-30 min of labor. It's America, I don't mind paying people well. But this is just offensive. And they charge you $99 just for showing up, so you're caught in the trap that if you don't hire them, you lose $99. Frame of reference: $368 is roughly equal to what the average American household earns in a WHOLE DAY. (Note: I'm in Des Moines, although my Yelp location shows me in San Francisco).

Then, my smart thermostat was discovered to be faulty. I asked for a similar smart thermostat. Kelly said he didn't like those and recommended his favorite- a manual control programmable. Being without air on 85 degree day, I agreed. He charged me $130 for the service call and $160 for the thermostat. The "new" thermostat failed after about 3 days so I called him and requested replacement with smart thermostat again, which he said was $50 higher (now $210 for the thermostat !) In the meantime, I checked local RETAIL prices on the defective therm he installed = $44; and the RETAIL price of my replacement smart therm = $90. I felt he should make it right by replacing his bad one with the better one at no additional cost. Still giving him a $70 markup. I felt he was grossly overcharging, under serving, defensive, argumentive, and somewhat hostile when he said " you either pay me the extra $50, or I'm not coming". So much for his website saying "Our prices are always fair, and we even offer a senior citizen discount." No senior or veteran discount was even considered or offered. My lowest cost option was to accept his threat and "get it done". I've been cheated and mistreated before and usually "fight" it, but he had me over a barrel. No apology for the inconvenience, the therm failure, no senior or other discount, no consideration at all for his customer. He only wanted to rip off as much money as he could. His teenage assistant was the most helpful in resetting the smart therm app for me. I'm wondering- Should I recommend, or reuse Kelly again??? I think not, and don't recommend others to use him. Unprofessional, greedy, and "my way or the Hiway" kinda guy. Sincerely, Steve Alexander , West Des Moines
