Was offered this free class as part of IHSS. The instructor was great at teaching us the fundamentals and basics of CPR. He was very informative on the whole process and procedures of what to do. He recited the information many times for us to remember and had us practice multiple times. It was kind of fun practicing on the dummies. Even though it wasn't the real thing, being able to perform on it simulated it just enough. Learning CPR isn't hard. This is an important and life-saving skill anyone can and should learn! read more

Next is in-office demonstration of skills on adult and infant manikins to the computer, which gives you instructions and provides feedback. I renewed my BLS with the online blended course which was extremely user-friendly and thorough. Afterwards, I drove to their facility and passed off the skills portion with the automated manikins. I highly recommend this service for BLS renewal. The process was quick and straightforward. I went to a physical location for the skills testing, which was very smooth. They sent detailed emails beforehand with location info and tips for the skills portion, which I appreciated, especially since the testing is self-guided. Personally, I liked being able to test independently. At the location, there are two manikins and a laptop set up for the test, allowing you to go at your own pace with plenty of time to pass. Monica our instructor was great in explaining a wide arrange of topics that are really helpful in our line of work. We mostly tackled adult first aid but we even went through child and infant CPR and choking. Monica and Jeff were very knowledgeable, and a true professional. I first tried this class back in December 2020 because I wanted an in person class for ACLS. I was kinda nervous because I have always taken my classes through my work but since COVID, my work has transitioned to online classes. I prefer in person classes and I was happy to see that Heart Start has plenty available. I first heard from them from my coworkers and decided to give it a try. The class is laid back and was not stressful at all. I like how the instructor was knowledgeable and helpful and does not make you feel bad when you don't know the answer to something. So far I've taken 2 classes with them and I plan on taking all of my future classes here! I am always recommending them to others because I had a good experience at this place. The classroom is set up as a small class, 6 feet apart, masks are required. Lysol and hand sanitizers all throughout which made it feel safe. Clean bathrooms and plenty of parking. read more

Very responsive reply to my request for information, and I had an appointment to take the manikin test that same morning. The guidelines were helpful and easy to understand. The manakin skills test is what the AHA uses these days and was forgiving enough. I was in and out of there in less than a half hour and the computer prompted me in real tine to help me pass the test. The certificate was immediate and the job that needed it had it within a week of requiring it. For me it was a good review of the ever changing AHA protocols. The next time a plastic dummy collapses I am ready for it, and the managed care boss is happy. read more

The class was taught by Ray I believe. He made the class fun and interesting. I've taken CPR at least half a dozen times and this was one of my favorite times.
