Usually come here every time it's time to renew my BLS, this past time we went class went by very quick. Instructor is very clear about what to do and what not to do. We did buy a new book seems like you need a new one every other year . Purchased online when regeistering. But I believe they are also available to buy in person. Class was pretty full and instructor kept up with disinfecting everything . We did practice social distance and 1 person per table. read more

I signed up for the HeartCode option which includes an at home/online portion and a 1 hour in person skills. Because of COVID we did not practice giving rescue breaths but we practiced chest compressions, AED, and BVM. The instructor I had was Justin which is the instructor I had 2 years ago in Concord. He's so lively and makes the class fun and go by quickly! I hope I have him again the next time I take a class. The process from registering to completing this course is super easy and smooth. I started by selecting the class that best fits my full-time schedule and I was stoked to find that they offer a hybrid option where you can complete simulations online, then just come in for practicing with the different equipment (instead of a 3-hour class in the classroom setting). After completing the online simulation classroom requirement, I then came in for the in-class simulation using the equipment. There were 3 other students who attended my class. I loved the small classroom setting because our instructor Tj, was able to really give us specific pointers on what we can do better within our CPR technique. I am a health care professional and have done my cpr thru this company for many years, never a complaint. But now the classes are remote with Voice Activated Maniqins and they are a total pain. I had to return 3 times to pass, with the 3rd there being an instructor present. The settings on the dummies are too much. Trying to call and communicate with the office was a joke. Notice in the room a sign that says most people don't pass the first 2 times. What's the point then? I'll find someplace else. read more

Always taught by highly qualified knowledgeable instructors. Very relaxed atmosphere, the class room is not crammed with students. The tables are 6 ft apart and very clean, hand sanitizer on every individual table. I have been coming here fro 6 years and I highly recommend these classes. Nina was a super great instructor for my first time getting CPR-certified! During the pandemic, our class was practicing social distancing and everything we used from the mannequin to the desk we were sitting at was constantly cleaned down with alcohol wipes. Nina was amazing in keeping our class engaged, informed, and fun. A few hours went by so fast! This was definitely worth the commute from San Francisco for me. Don't worry about social distancing because they took a lot of time in making sure everyone was safe. It was one table per person as well as one mannequin or baby per person. Alcohol wipes were provided, as you were to wipe down the mannequin or baby once you were done. Wearing masks were a requirement before entering the building and our instructor, Jeff, was very thorough in teaching our class. read more

Nina was my for instructor today! She was knowledgeable, efficient & super friendly! She engaged so well with the class that everyone seemed super comfortable and it made me feel so confident after my training that someone's like could be in my hands and I would know exactly what to do from start to finish performing CPR, checking for breathing, pulse etc and how many compressions and breaths to give in different situations and different ages from infants to adults. I like taking up a training course where the instructor makes you feel at home, from beginning to end. I was even thinking of going back to become a BLS instructor, that's how wonderful this instructor was. Definitely hard to find teachers who will teach, and make the training fun for all yet at the same time to take it seriously in case those emergencies should arise where your training will be put to use. Conner was my CPR, AED, and First Aid instructor. He was very easy to understand and thorough with our lessons. He gave us ample time to practice and made sure everyone was comfortable, before we moved on. He was funny and kept the class fun, while we learned a lot. I took CPR and First Aid, so our class was a total of 5 hours. We had plenty of breaks - one every hour. Some students close only to take the first three hour portion, with CPR only. I would recommend taking the entire course, because if you decide to take first aid later, you'll end up paying for the entire class all over again. I had Nina as my instructor and she was amazing! She had such a positive attitude and checked on everyone's CPR technique and gave us good verbal feedback. She makes sure everyone passes the class and throughout the class, she tells you if what she's explaining will be on the test (basically giving you the right answers, just pay attention). The test is also open book. If you miss more than the 5 you're allowed to miss, Nina will tell you which questions you answered correctly and you can review the incorrect ones and correct them. Dreaded renewing my BLS cert because I didn't want to sit through a boring 3-hr class but I ended up enjoying it. My instructor Nina was great! She was witty and funny which made the class fun and engaging; time flew by. I came in on a weekday afternoon and my cohort comprised of 6 people--which I liked because this meant that everyone would receive substantive feedback on how to improve techniques. 10/10 would take a class here again. I renewed my AED/CPR/First Aid American Heart Association certification at Berkeley CPR. Karl is an amazing educator. In 5 hours the class covered just about every possible emergency medical contingency and what to do about an emergency. If you don't have AED/CPR/First Aid training, or you need to renew, choose Karl! Karl stepped us through CPR and AED teaching us exactly what to do and how to be effective doing it all. Absolute clarity! And if you elect to take the First Aid course too, do it with Karl. They are precise, clear and teach with a super positive "you can do this" calm attitude. You will be glad you did! In case of an emergency, be fully prepared to help others properly, and with extra calm. These classes build confidence in your ability to respond effectively to an emergency situation. They have seminars all over, and when you register online you can select where and when you want to take your certifications. A hiccup developed on the date I selected and Berkeley CPR handled everything needed to reschedule beautifully! I received an Email confirmation of my renewal and a website on which to reselect another class. BRAVO Berkeley CPR for following through! Parking: There is public parking behind the McDonalds and disabled parking in the lot against the wall, and one disabled parking spot across the street at the Berkeley fire station, in case the lot is full. There are also paid metered parking spaces all over. Berkeley GET THERE EARLY! Just get there early. TREATS: I got there early, and got a large coffee and 2 Sausage McMuffins at McD's , and headed over. This is Berkeley, there are vegan treats everywhere! Please DO NOT be late, the class begins at 9:00 and you must register at 8:40. The standards require the full 5 hours of training to be certified!!! The PLACE: The training room is clean, bright, and there is a GIANT television on the wall with which the instructor can step through and rewind practices and procedures that are being taught. More Treats: They provide protein snack bars, hot and cold water, and various teas for hydration. I selected the chamomile mixed with peppermint. The bathroom is available with a key. The Staff: Karl. taught our class. Karl is an AMAZING educator. In 5 hours he covered just about every possible emergency medical contingency and stepped us through exactly what to do. His teaching style is engaging, and Karl is a very precise and knowledgeable first-responder and Instructor. If you don't have AED/CPR/First Aid training, or you need to renew, choose Karl at Berkeley CPR! Karl stepped us through CPR and AED teaching us exactly what to do and how to calmly be effective at doing it all. Absolute clarity! The class broke up into pairs and we worked on performing all the required tasks on training manikins, They have adult and infant sized training manikins where all procedures practiced become less intimidating. If you elect to take the First Aid course, please do it with Karl. They are precise, clear and teach with a super positive "you can do this" and calm attitude! You will be glad you did!
