Steve Albright is the lead instructor and he is gifted at teaching and he is hilarious with his style of teaching. This man is very much a father figure and someone I learned a lot from aside from the medical material, he is truly a pleasure to be around and he lifts up peoples' spirits even though everything can be stressful. Michael believed in me and expressed it in a way that I can never thank enough. I value my newly acquired friendship with Michael and I definitely felt his passion for teaching and "his" love for his students. He is a great instructor who I am proud to have been guided by in this process of becoming a Emergency Medical Technician. He believed in me more than I believed in myself and that is something that money cannot buy. Henry taught me so much and gave me a platform to grow and thrive upon. He was so amazing at teaching and building confidence without putting pressure and it allowed for one to practice like they would in "real-life", therefore it is impossible for me to thank him enough. Nav guided me in situations that are stressful her guidance in tough scenarios which is something I will never forget. Her military expertise is something that I admire and will never forget her words and they will stick with me forever. She also enlightened me with potential career opportunities for someone like me, she did this for all of the students and I'm 100% positive that everyone gained confidence from her insight. Kristian was an amazing instructor who sharpened my skills with his style of teaching. He really helped cement my confidence and that is something I truly needed and value. I know that he didn't just want me to succeed but to also help the patients/people that we serve. The time that we spent together was not nearly enough because he had so much more to give and I had so much more to learn from him, however the time that we did spend was maximized and as I mentioned I am forever grateful for his time and energy. Patrick is like a friend who I have known my entire life and he is a wise teacher who made the learning experience more enjoyable and he reminded me why I am even doing this in the first place. He reminded me of my core values and the type of person I want to be, which is compassionate, sociable, and an intelligent leader who can get things done under pressure. This man is a person that everyone likes to be around and that is something I wish to emulate. Overall, this has been a life changing course unlike any other course that I have taken. First all being able to operate during a pandemic is a great achievement in its self. I feel the safety measures and rules outlined made me feel safe/healthy and at the same time didn't take away from our learning environment/training. I came in to the 7 week course with no prior medical experience/knowledge and learned so much every day that i was in the class from the in class lectures to the hands on training. From the beginning the administrative staff was very helpful and friendly, my first contact came with Kenia she returned my calls and emails in a timely matter answering all of the questions I had. Next time was Niky (CEO) who was always available answering questions via telephone text or email. There was a time when i wanted to give up and i reached out to Niky -she basically kept it short but sweet and gave me the inspiration to keep going. Our instructors were great lead by Chris who always came with energy, passion and a wealth of knowledge. Chris to helping students succeed in was unbelievable and I am greatly appreciative of him. We also had a variety of skill instructors, but one that sticks out for me was Brooke. Brooke had a calming personality who was able to explain in a way I could understand and also was very encouraging i learned a lot from her. When thinking of any type of "school," there is always something inherently lacking in the ability to transfer the classroom knowledge to real-life situations. This is not the case with BATA. In fact, BATA is different because you actually get hands on experience with gurneys, equipment, and ambulance while attending! This is definitely a plus if you want to be prepared to hit the field shortly after graduating. These are some of the perks of attending BATA. However; by far the biggest and most beneficial perk of all is who actually trains you and prepares you for the field of EMS. Instructor Albright is the most enthusiastic teacher I have come across, who gives lessons with real, practical knowledge that you can use in the field. He has a way of teaching that really allows you to absorb the information and connect it to real-life scenarios in a way that I have never experienced (for background, I am a mid-career, college-educated professional). I have always learned better hands-on vs. in the classroom (i.e. labs were better suited for me than the lectures). However; the classroom lectures in Albright's classes were just as engaging as the scenarios! I highly, highly recommend Albright as an instructor and mentor. My teacher was Ashley, and she is a great teacher and really helped a lot. I took the accelerated course of 5 weeks and I was a student with NO prior experience to health care or EMS, just warehouse work and driving trucks. She answered any question I had, and would always make sure I understood the answer and why. I recently completed the 7.5 week evening/weekend EMT course at BATA and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone considering it. The instructors are knowledgable and enthusiastic, and they provide ample guidance for not only the class, but also your future aspirations. The class exams mirror the psychomotor and NREMT exams very closely, so you're well prepared for those by the time you complete the course. First, my lead instructor Chris is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He knows the human anatomy and biology on another level and truly connects the book and real life in such animated and engaging ways. He does have a way to make the presentations fly by. Every minute is jam packed so previous comment about really have time to dedicate to an accelerated is very true. You are held accountable on another level. The professionalism of staff, organization, and responsiveness across the board makes the process clear and respectful to student to avoid confusion. Also, the access to skills training in their actual station at Westmed was fantastic. You cannot compete with seeing first hand what a station looks like. My experience at BATA was truly amazing. I took the five week accelerated EMT class. My instructor was Chris and he is by far the best teacher I have ever had in my entire life. He made class so interesting every single day, which I am sure could not be that easy since it was 8 hours long. BATA is the place to be for EMT training. I chose the school based on reviews and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. I made the commute from SF to San Leandro and I would do it all over again. Lead Instructor Albright and Instructor Hirsch are passionate about teaching and care about the students. They also have the experience to support the curriculum but fear not they also bring a great sense of humor to keep the class alive. Albright also provides some insight into choose and creating your career. He goes above and beyond as an EMT instructor. The partnership with Westmed ambulance makes for a strong program and access to equipment. The class was more in-depth and hands on than I expected. We were able to get into ambulances and run scenarios which is not available at most programs. A few things to note: - you will need to plan for a couple of hours between classes for reading. The textbook is 1500 pages -an iPad or laptop is necessary for taking test -plan to be on time every class day in uniform. Albright gives 110% each class (even on Sunday mornings) -there is 24 hours of ambulance ride alongs that need to be completed. This can take time to schedule. Just be aware when you're fitting the EMT course into your schedule -have fun, work hard, connect with classmates to improve your experience and learning. read more

To answer your question, YES! take this class with Chris Gregory. I can end it there and in a few weeks you could already be an EMT. But I guess i'll tell you why. BATA wants you to succeed. As long as you put in the work, show up and be a team player, you're in good hands. The first two weeks will be grueling but like exercise or whatever metaphor you wanna use, it gets easier. Develop the idea of HARD MODE and everything will be easier and you can do it, because they don't want you to fail. I took the 5 week class, 7am-4pm and I don't regret it. You meet people in class that genuinely want to serve the community, you meet folks that want to help and that righteous mentally only wants you to do better and be better. Nikki, Chris and their crew are gonna give it to you Real. You are in the business of saving lives and business is booming. Chris is going to lecture you quickly, pay attention, don't lollygag on your computer, he's giving you the test questions with the lecture. Read what you can, don't give up, for real you're gonna pass. You're going to be out in scenarios with teams, follow the script that Chris gives you and keep going through it. The man is an encyclopedia! If you got questions he's got answers. They will set you up for success, this is a great organization with great folks who know when to play and know when to work. I completed the emt course here recently and I highly recommend it! Its about a 2 month long, 3 day a week course located at the west med ambulance company, which is really cool because they have all the equipment and resources an emt needs to learn and know right there. After the course i felt very comfortable with everything I had learned because its avery hands on course and thers lots of repetition. The instructors were amazing. Chris, Silver, and Jacoby are very knowledgable guys who have many years of experience in the field. They made a it such a fun time, while also getting down to business to make sure we were on top of our stuff (every single person passed in my class). Its very close knit, personal class so theres a lot of time for one on one contact if you ever need help, and they're more than happy to help. I honestly don't have one bad thing to say about this emt academy. I feel very lucky to have to have found this place! Also, for it being only a 7 week course its pretty affordable! read more
