It's a tough ride going home as you hit rush hour traffic. The commute time nearly doubles going home. It's a real commitment to come to these classes. When you arrive another class (Open Figure Drawing Studio, no instructor is included in the class) is letting out so depending on how early you arrive there will be more or less parking. They have a private lot and you will always find a parking space even if you have to park on the street. Carol Hawkins teaches a monthly painting with paper class. I also believe she teaches a biweekly acrylic class on Saturdays. If you are interested in any of these classes just contact the Sacramento Fine Arts Center for a schedule. The painting with paper class is $75 (Check or Cash) and includes all the supplies. As you can see from the below picture she draws out the design so you don't start with a complete blank canvas. She walks you step by step on how to complete your painting. I've been attending her class for a few years and really enjoy the classes. I can't always make them as I can't always get the time off from work and due to I work full time I have to take time off to attend the class. These classes are fast paced so you need to be prepared for this. There is no messing around. I've been lucky and have been able to finish all of my paintings in the time limit and sometimes I can even leave with a done painting 30 minutes early. Now it won't be dry in that time limit, but it dries in my car and in my house. Not everyone is so Lucky. I'd be so sad if I weren't able to finish my paining. I definitely am not one to finish a project at home as wouldn't have the needed supplies. She is good at being a timekeeper and gives you count downs as to how much time you have left. She will also go around and help you if you need it. I need the most help when it comes to adding the acrylic parts to the paintings. I'm not the best painters so. I need the extra assistance. I'm more of a fan of the all paper classes where paint isn't involved. Once you get on her mailing list she will send you out reminders about upcoming classes and show you what the project is for that time. She asks for RSVPs around a week or two in advance. By then I usually can tell her if I got the time off work or not. And I should note that it was 102 the day of our last class and the AC was blasting. I always have that concern that their AC won't be working that day and I would have driven all the way out there to be miserable. So far my fear hasn't come true.

What made the experience worse was that Dave Wilkerson, Director of ACAI Studios & Gallery, personally doubled down on the decision despite the circumstances. A policy is one thing, but compassion and basic humanity should still matter. Being treated this rigidly during a family loss was honestly upsetting and disappointing. I would not recommend supporting an organization that responds this way to someone dealing with a bereavement emergency. Would you want to be treated this way after losing a family member?

Took a throwing class with Terry, who was great. He was super informative and willing to help…read morethroughout all my four classes. I ended up making about 5 pieces throughout the four classes. We glazed during our fourth and final class, meaning we had to return to find our pieces. When I came back the fifth week, my pieces were still not fired in the kiln yet. So I decided to come back in two weeks. That's where I ran into my issue. All of our completed pieces are in a separate room where the glazing happens. There was another instructor, bald lady who I believe instructs the hand throwing class, who was teaching her class how to glaze. My friend and I were looking for our pieces, trying to be as quiet as possible. However, noise is going to be made as we're rummaging through a bunch of finished pieces. There are about four separate sections where our pieces could be, so as we were going through the finished pottery pieces, someone from her class asked my friend and I to be quiet, which we were already trying to be as quiet as possible. She said that we were being rude and disruptive. However, this is just the nature of this room. People are going to be going in and out, trying to find their pieces, as they only place the finalized pieces here. This is when I expected the bald instructor to speak up but she was super rude as well. She was demeaning and condescending towards us. She talked down to us as if my friend and I were 5 years old. When we were looking through the non fired pieces, she raised her voice telling us not to touch the pieces if they weren't ours. The issue is, when you paint the glaze, not only does your piece look completely different, but the glaze is all different types of crazy colors. The only way to verify if the piece is yours is if you find your name on the bottom of the piece. So not only were we not able to verify if those pieces were ours, as the instructor was giving us attitude, we weren't able to find all of our pieces. We went back to our instructor, who was kind enough to find our pieces for us. Overall, we had a good experience but that last instructor really rubbed me the wrong way. I'm conflicted on what score to give, and really feel as though how are you an instructor when you are so rude? For sure left a bad taste in my mouth.

Space was clean, nicely decorated and could accommodate 40 guests, not sure what the other space rents for so double check with the owner. Had a very fun gender reveal party and are thankful that Just for Fun Art accepted the last minute request. We were allowed to bring our own extra decorations and food. Just make sure to clean up when you're done.

It's clear that they prioritize upkeep, which I really appreciate. The staff here are always friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere. That said, this is very much a swimmer's pool--designed for lap swimming and training rather than recreational use or family playtime. While they do have some equipment available for use, most swimmers bring their own gear. One of my favorite aspects is how uncrowded it is when I go early in the morning. I usually get a lane to myself, which is such a luxury compared to other pools. The membership fees are very reasonable for what you get--especially considering the quality of the facilities and the experience. If you're looking for a pool geared toward training or serious lap swimming, I highly recommend The Swimstitute. It was beginner-friendly, but it still felt novel and cool. We brought our own life vests, but they have plenty available for anyone who does not bring one. All the college-age students working there were very friendly, and they seemed genuinely happy to be there. The parking lot became busy later in the morning, so we were glad we had arrived early.

Parking: $10 if you don't rent their equipment, with plenty of spaces in the complex. Otherwise, you can park for "free" at the State Park area if you have the Golden Poppy Annual Pass ($125). The park also has plenty of picnic tables and a small beach area for sunbathing. Restrooms: Women's (5 stalls), Men's (5 stalls), plus 2 unisex restrooms. There are plenty of rental options, including single/tandem kayaks, SUP boards, and canoes. If you are in a group, all renters must sign in at the same time because the rental period starts once you sign in. They also have CREW and CANOE clubs! All rentals must be returned by 8 PM or you may be fined. No cycling or weight training on the premises, but there is a basketball court on the side. All life jackets, equipment, and docks were clean and in good condition. The payment line moves quickly. If possible, print the waiver at home to save time. You also need to create an account on their website before they can place your order; otherwise, you'll need to create one on the spot when purchasing tickets. After purchasing, you leave your driver's license and car key with them. There is a 15-minute courtesy buffer deducted from your total rental time for walking to the dock, restroom breaks, setup, etc. Service: friendly and efficient. If you change your mind: for example, from a SUP board to a kayak: they simply call the front desk and let you switch at the dock. Lake Natoma is perfect for kayaking or paddleboarding because it starts wide and gradually narrows. The current is almost nonexistent until around 4 PM. It's about 2 miles to the small island near Willow Creek Recreation Area, which makes a perfect scenic picnic spot.

I was pressed for time and had a small window to get this done. I called and spoke to Nathan and he was able to accommodate my schedule and get the job done and on time. A bit about the service. I did receive a call from Nathan about my jet skis and he was able to thoroughly provide a status and clearly explained what he found. My main concern was the switch, he tested the switch and the relay and everything was good. He told me how to rectify the problem and did not recommend changing any parts. I asked about replacing with new parts and he told me it would function the same. I appreciated his honesty and was pleased he did not take advantage of an opportunity to make more money! The customer service was outstanding! I talked to both Nathan and Marina and they both were nice and pleasant. When I arrived they both greeted me and helped me unhook my trailer. When I came to pick up my jet skis, Nathan showed me my old parts and explained what was done. Marina took my payment and they both assisted with hooking up my trailer. I definitely will be back to winterize and service my jet skis. Great job Nathan and Marina!

If you park near the Enterprise lot, the staff there will ask you to move your car (learned that the hard way), so plan to park on the street if possible. Now onto the class--overall, I had a good experience. The staff is super friendly and happy to answer any questions. They give all the instructions at the beginning, then you work independently while they check in with you periodically. Everyone has a different learning style, so this teaching method may work really well for some, while others (like me!) might prefer a more hands-on, step-by-step approach. There is a front portion you can buy art and trinkets and then the rest of the space is for creatives. He gave us a tour which was awesome and there is SOOO MUCH you can do here. Any craft under the sun they have space and equipment for. There's a wood working area, 3-D printing, huge etching machines, t-shirt printing, machines for jewelry crafts, space to work on laptops or schoolwork etc. There's is so much to do here and if you are a creative I deff recommend checking this place out. There was a girl there who was 3-D printing bones of the body and in a hand to help her with her Anatomy class. The gentlemen that showed us around helped teach her some tricks on the 3-D printing and how to do it and he is passionate about creating and helping others be able to use the space or any machine in there just ask and he will show you. I hated it throughout my school years, and I failed miserably in it in High School. As I got older, here comes Paint Nite! Where you sip wine n paint. My first time in 2017, I didn't even drink my wine as to I was too concentrated on my painting! And that one was a masterpiece too. And tonight, was my time to SHINE AGAIN! I needed some "MEENA TIME" and while searching for Sacramento events, up came "Painting and Vino". Now, there is NO WINE at the event despite the name and they make that clear before booking. So please read before buying your ticket! BUT you're more than welcome to bring your own Vino and snacks!! Tonight Painting n Vino was held at, "Crystal Vibez" in Sacramento and hosted by the Sweet Wonderful Kathy!! She was the most nicest, kindest art instructor and she has so much patience! She showed us to paint a sunset overlooking an island. And she went step by step with what brushes, strokes, color blending and all to do! And a few hours later my masterpiece was born! And I made some new friends while painting away! You must sign up for a class, it's so much fun! And you meet all kinds of fun people and the best part is seeing everyone's masterpieces at the end! Each painting represents everyones uniqueness! I will be back Kathy!!

BETTER THAN PORN!…read more My Husband was surprising me with some mysterious activity in Sacramento for my Birthday on April 2nd (a Tues) and upon getting into the car we had the following conversation: Him: So now that we are on our way i guess i can tell you what we are doing. We will be indoors with a lot of bright lights, so it's good that you did your makeup, and look nice. Me: Very puzzled expression. Him: Do you remember that move, "Zach and Miri Make a Porno" and how at the end their business is helping couples create their own studio-quality sex tapes? Me: Yeaaaaah... Him: Well i thought it would be nice, you know to do that, and its a really nice place with only women on set... Me: WTF?! You're kidding, we are absolutely not doing that! No, you're joking...and if you're not you better turn this car around! And he kept acting like this was legitimately his surprise for a another minute and was doing a really convincing job of pretending that he was for real, and thus my anxiety/anger level was increasing until he finally laughs and says, no we are going to a glass blowing class. Oh the relief! Obviously i was a bit mad at the deception but had to laugh at his uncanny ability to say all of that to me with a straight face. Anyways, the ladies of Girl Glass thought this story was hilarious and really wanted to have it said on yelp that this experience was better than porn, and it was! I do know that they made a special exception via emails and phone calls back and forth between them and my husband to arrange this private class for us because it was not a normal day that they would have done it. They even allowed us to go to their house, and we did it in their backyard, just the two of us. My husband and I each made ornaments, and it was a really unique and fun experience that I totally recommend to anyone with any interest in the art of glass blowing. Its mind boggling what they can do and how it works and also very hot!!! Long sleeves highly recommended! They do a demo, and then they guide you through choosing your colors and then actually doing it yourself/assisting in the creation of your very own masterpiece. You don't get to take it home right away but they have various arrangements for getting it once it is ready. Another sweet touch: they had asked my hubby ahead of time if i liked vanilla or chocolate, to which he told them chocolate and then after our ornaments were made they brought out two delicious chocolate cupcakes from a local bakery in honor of my birthday! It was above and beyond to even get them but they were to-die-for good too!!! And so, to the ladies of Girl Glass: I give you five stars and I say thank you for a wonderful memory. I can't wait to see our finished ornaments!

What an awesome experience this class was!…read more I appreciated the time the team spent getting everyone comfortable working with the tools before beginning work on the final pieces. We got to choose to make either a bowl, cup, or vase. You will do the work on every part of the process to make a piece, but the instructors are right there to make sure you come away with something to feel proud of. Everyone in my group chose to make a cup, but each person gets to choose their own colors and each cup came out with a slightly different shape depending on how the tools were applied. It was really fun to see each persons unique final product! I enjoyed this class so well that I'd like to go back again and make another one of the options.

As a joint Christmas present, I booked a hands-on glass blowing class for my husband and I. We…read morearrived on a Sunday morning and there were several other participants already there. I believe they cap the class at eight so that you truly get the attention and detail in training that you deserve. Our instructors, Rene and Lauren, were phenomenal. They were funny and relatable and made the entire experience extremely enjoyable. After going over the basics of safety and glass blowing, we went one by one and received individual attention to make our glass masterpieces. We were given the choice of making either a paperweight, a drinking glass, a bowl, or a vase. We were allowed to pick any color of glass that we wished, and I appreciated the insight provided by the instructors as to which colors would go together well. I ended up making a beautiful vase with a translucent jade color with pops of white. My husband made a drinking glass in green and gold. From start to finish it was an incredible experience and something I would definitely enjoy doing again. So if you're looking for something fun to do in Sacramento while supporting a small local business and the arts, I would highly, highly recommend checking out Sacramento Art Glass.
