I will go back to this audiologist in 5 years time to see if my hearing has changed, as recommended by the audiologist, Dr. April Egarian.

Yes, but the sound was not crisp & often could hear sound but not well. When my brother lost one of the hearing aids, I had to find a great place that understood her needs & truly cared about the outcome. I wasn't sure that was possible. I did some research online and made an apt at Ahren's. We were greeted warmly by both the receptionist and waited a short while to meet Kathy. Kathy took us into her office for a very thorough exam- something we had not experienced before at other places. There be an exam, yes, but not like this. Kathy immediately noticed that wax build up was an issue, certainly adding to the hearing loss. She cleaned the ears but could not clean one ear as well and sent us to the ENT to clean the wax. She gave my mom a loaner hearing aid until we ordered her new ones. You'd think this would be common before fitting for hearing aids but it was not what we'd experienced. We went back with the cleaned ears and further testing continued. Kathy discussed all the options and we decided on pair. We also got the phone & tv accessory. I cannot tell you how happy my mom is now. She's 91 and has a whole new world opened to her because of Ahren's and Kathy. We highly recommend Ahren's for you or your family member. You will not be disappointed, but will be pleasantly surprised.

I was then told, "So sorry, your appointment wasn't in the system," and that they couldn't see me because the machine wasn't working. I find it very concerning that my confirmed appointment somehow wasn't in the system, and then, conveniently, the equipment was also unavailable. Whether the two issues were related or not, the experience certainly left me questioning the situation. What makes this even more frustrating is that my health insurance had recently dropped this provider, but I was still willing to keep the appointment and pay out of pocket if necessary because I wanted to move forward with my hearing care. After being treated this way, I've changed my mind. I will not be returning and will take my business elsewhere. Patients deserve better communication, organization, and professionalism--especially when they take the time to make and confirm an appointment.
