I had the "Dat Red Bean Plate" with fried fish ( you can get chicken and you can also get either choice blackened) with French bread and a fresh salad. My husband got the "Bourbon Street Love" which was a fried chicken thigh covered in creamy crawfish goodness atop a plate full of macaroni and a small potato salad. After meeting the owner Chef Jeff and sampling his food at Black Restaurant week sneak peek I knew I HAD to go. He told me the Superdome was one of his top sellers. This dish is comprised of Blackened Fish topped with Lobster Mashed Potatoes, Lobster Cream Sauce, Sweet Cream, and Crispy Onion Rings. Sweet dear! It is just as good as it sounds if not better. This meal was heaven on my tastebuds. The restaurant itself isn't anything as fancy and elaborate as this dish. They have a window to order your food, a few benches out front, and a few tents with tables 'round back. You can eat your food outside or take it to go. Full disclosure, in nearly 100 degree weather I 100000% took it to go, but it was worth the short wait in order to have this food. This is a little hike from the French quarter in Mid City. We took the trolley car, then walked about 10 or so blocks. The red bean plate was recommended to us. So we got that with fried fish. The fish was perfectly cooked, the beans were pipping hot. A side salad had a homemade thousand island. We could have sworn grandma was cooking for us. When we pulled up to the front it was certainly in a building that I would normally never see myself going in, it's street parking as well. When we first walked up it was different than any restaurant I had ever seen! We walking inside where we met the owner in a small little waiting room, my assumption is that area was for pickup orders. The owner then told us to follow him out back to the dining area and we were both very hesitant to follow him. When he took us to a door that lead to a small room with one waitress (The Owners Daughter) and a few tables. There was no windows which really threw me off. We were instantly greeted by our waitress where she gave us the run down on the menu along with a brief history of this restaurant. I had the Bourbon Love and my friend had the Surf and Turf we also decided to split an order of the crawfish fries. Let me say I genuinely enjoyed my meal and got full extremely fast, I wish I could've taken it home! My wife and I ordered from here through DoorDash during our trip to New Orleans. The food was pretty good. I had the red beans and rice that came with a piece of fried chicken, cornbread and salad. I felt like I was a kid eating in my Grandmother's home again as the flavors reminded me of her cooking. She grew up in Louisiana and brought up my mother and aunts and uncles as well as us grandkids she babysat with this type of cooking. My wife had the chicken with mac and cheese and she liked it. When I went I noticed that it's pretty small. When you go in you'll see a window you can order from, and a few seats along the wall that you can sit at and eat. It was just really hot while waiting so I decided to go into the car to wait. On the bright side the customer service and food was really good. I got the superdome and it was so good! The flavor was all there. some things I noticed was that the baked fish wasn't super tender and the mashed potatoes were a little lumpy. By far, my favorite spot in New Orleans. My go to orders are the Superdome and Bourbon Street Love. The Superdome contains blackened fish, mashed potatoes, corn, and onion rings. The Bourbon Street Love is Mac and Cheese with fried chicken on top. Both meals hit! Absolutely great experience! I've ordered here before for pickup and had a great experience. Today we ordered lunch for a pre Mother's Day gathering. The food was ready in quickly. The staff were so sweet and friendly. They honestly have the perfect person at the register. We ordered the SuperDome, Bourbon St and bread pudding. They gave us two Dat Shyt drinks for free. So with the Bourbon St I substituted my potato salad for lobster potatoes which was a very smart decision because those potatoes were so good. The lobster meat was tender the potatoes was smooth and creamy it was just a perfect combination. The chicken was fried perfectly it did not get soggy it was nice and crispy very very very tasty. Now for the Superdome The fish was cooked to perfection the potatoes again we're very good it was just a very delicious combination. The onion rings were very good the onions were not soggy the coating was crispy it was just a delicious combination of food. The bread pudding was a melt in your mouth delicious!!!! Incredible! Our best meal during our week in NOLA, better than Jacques Imo's and Luke. Rumor has it that the chef here sharpened his skills under the tutelage of Emeril Lagasse, but never advertises that fact because he wants the dishes to speak for themselves. And they certainly do. Best fried chicken and red beans and rice I've had in the South. We also ordered the blackened fish special served in a gorgeous lemon cream sauce with green beans and mashed potatoes. Wow, this place is incredible. So glad Yelp led us to this little place off the beaten path. We took an Uber/Lyft to get here from our hotel, but it was totally worth it for the delicious lunch! I got the Bourbon Love, which was fried chicken with crawfish over the top, a side potato salad and it was so crispy, hot, flavorful and wonderful that I'm totally longing for this dish as I relive it by writing this review. Tasted so nice that we had to have it twice. Literally. Twice in one day. My boyfriend and I wanted to get something to eat before we checked out of our Airbnb. We looked on UberEats and found this place. I got the Seafood Extravaganza and my boyfriend ordered the Super Dome. We both loved our meals. That sauce was so good with the fish and shrimp. The Crawdat fries were bomb. My boyfriend loved it so much he made us take an Uber to Heard Dat before going to the airport. I thought he was crazy because I we pretty much went out of the way for this food but his logic was he wanted to eat it on the plane and not have to pay just as much for crappy airport food. My wife had the Skeech Shrimp, and was equally savory combined with a lightly sweet dressing on the bed of lettuce the shrimp sat on. To make matters even better, while I was looking for groupons for airboat excursions, I found one for Heard Dat Kitchen! We ended up spending over $50 of our own money (including the price of the groupon) for more than 4 meals worth of food! Everyone there is super nice and can help you figure out what to order.
