Sadly, we have had an AWFUL experience with Wayne and the Healthy Bed Store. We encountered a problem with everything we ordered: Our bed frame arrived defective, they sent us the wrong mattress and our topper allegedly got lost in the mail and arrived more than a month late. The replacement mattress arrived without any labeling so we had no way of confirming whether it was in fact the correct one. When we relayed these issues and expressed our dissatisfaction, Wayne was accusatory and defensive. He seemed more interested in keeping our money "based on his no return policy", than doing what was truly right based on our unique situation. I went to the Healthy Bed Store with the intention of helping a small local business but am regretful of this decision and would highly recommend looking elsewhere for your organic mattress needs. read more

I bought a clearance, top-of-the-line, Simmons innerspring mattress from a huge mattress retailer here in Northern California, so I can totally relate to the reviewer above about the "Mattress Oddysey". I've been calling it my Mattress Journey. Anyhow, after a few weeks I became disillusioned with the mattress for many reasons, primarily because it was defective, and decided I would return it. Before I went to return it I mattress shopped, A LOT, and ended up choosing a PureLatexBliss mattress from The Healthy Bed Store in Folsom. The day I went to return my innerspring mattress I grabbed the paperwork and saw that clearance items are non-refundable. I felt sick to my stomach when I read that because I truly thought I could return it and now it seemed I would be stuck with a $3000 piece of crap bed. I called over to The Healthy Bed Store in tears, and said I won't be able to buy my latex mattress now. Claudia (Wayne and Claudia own the store) suggested I come in and talk to Wayne. She thought he might be able to help me in this situation, as he had helped others in similar situations. Wayne spent a good hour with me helping me form a strategy that would probably grant me a return from the large mattress retailer. It took me two weeks of fighting to get a promise of return. The next day I went to The Healthy Bed Store and put a deposit on my latex bed to secure the sale price. I also told Wayne that I might have to get my deposit back if the large retailer doesn't actually follow through on their promise. He went ahead and ordered the bed anyway and said he would honor my cancellation if things didn't work out. But if they did work out, I could have my bed by the end of the week! So, eventually I scheduled a return for my innerspring mattress. I called Wayne that day and that night he was at my house with my new bed and he even carried my old bed downstairs. I slept on my new bed that night and have been incredibly pleased since then! Seriously, you will not get customer service like this elsewhere! For starters, I can say these guys have a passion for helping people get a healthy restful night. I began my bed research online and narrowed it down to about 10-15 stores and several brands. I tried them all. In the end, I found the products and service at this store far superior to anything else on my list. It's a one stop shop. They have several different brands all under one roof that were favorites on my "wish list" which included Bed in a Box, Organic Pedic by OMI, and Pure Bliss Latex. I ended up buying a Pure Bliss Latex Bed in the end but it was a tough choice at this store. Most bed stores I went to had maybe one option that I would consider at best. My greatest difficulty with this store was honing in on the mattress right for me. Luckily the store owner Wayne and his staff are super patient and very knowledgeable. What information they didn't know, they were willing to contact Wayne about or look into further. I went in twice before I made my final selection. If you are pressed for time as I am or don't want to shop around, at least check out this store. I went to the European Sleep Design and before shopping The Healthy Bed Store was pretty convinced I would buy from European Sleep Design. Really glad I found The Healthy Bed Store. Choosing a mattress is a big decision. You spend a third of your life on it so I guess you better like your mattress. Don't pass this place up on your list. Also, once you have bought a mattress from The Healthy Bed Store you get to apply 20% off all future bedding purchases and you can get 12-18 month free financing. I waited for the 18 month to come available. As a final word, the prices are super good considering the quality. Better and cheaper options if you compare apples to apples at TempurPedic or European Sleep Design. For example, compare TempurPedic to a Bed in a Box. I'd say they are similar in style but the Bed in a Box is about a third of the price and I know a friend who loves hers and had it for years. Also, The Healthy Bed Store has the best selection of Latex mattresses that I found in Sacramento. I'm sleeping deeper than ever. Rest well my friends! read more

Wayne and Claudia are really nice, honest people, and were a pleasure to work with. No pressure at all, but there to answer any questions we had. We were there enough times that we might have started to qualify as part-time employees, but hey, it isn't easy picking a new mattress! Good prices (relatively speaking -- these aren't bargain basement goods), and a decent selection of latex foam mattresses (along with some other types, too -- and stuff like pillows, etc.). It was a long process, but we are very satisfied with our purchase and very happy with the service they provided. read more

Before buying a mattress (REM Sleep Solutions, Paradise model) from this store we went to two other stores, the Sleep Train at Howe and Arden, and European Sleep Design in Folsom. The staff at those stores were as helpful and informed about their products, as Wayne and Claudia were about theirs, and I won't diss them here. We tried most of their mattress in their stores and were getting confused by the different types and models. However, after we finished trying several more mattresses at the HBS, we realized we really liked the memory foam style, of which Tempur-Pedic is the best known. We could have just as easily bought a T-P model at the Sleep Train, but the HBS had a memory foam mattress we liked (see above), at several hundred dollars savings over the T-P, so we bought it here. We also got some accessories (pillows, full mattress dust-mite covers) at discount. I certainly recommend you drop by the Healthy Bed Store in your search for the best mattress for you. Unlike some, the "organic" label doesn't mean that much to me...plenty of fully natural, organic things are still toxic to people. So that was not our primary reason for stopping by this store. Nevertheless we're glad we did. BTW, this store has free delivery and hauling away the old mattress, like the Sleep Train, but unlike European Sleep Designs. read more

Deven spent a great deal of time fitting us for the bed as we dithered over one thing and another. Delivery was done well. This is the store to go to for bedding in general. I bought a worlds best mattress there along with cotton sheets that really do stay on the mattress with an adjustable platform. Natural latex pillows as well to complete my purchase. Very good quality and healthier materials make for better nights sleep and less toxic chemicals that are in standard mattresses. After online shopping for a time we selected Healthy Bed as the place we would shop. It's about 1 1/2 hours from where we live. We wanted our new mattress to be without the chemicals we know are bad for our health. We were warmly greeted and supported through our shopping experience. Claudia was gracious and helpful. There are plenty of good options and good values. Wayne checked us out and added more information, guidance and help. All in all, the experience was excellent. Most importantly, we love the natural latex mattress (with a topper, that comes in different hardnesses.) From night one we've enjoyed it and slept well. Our cat also really loves it! She was on there faster than we could make the bed. When one of us gets out of bed during the night there is no disturbance to the mattress and therefore the other's sleep. We also got the small organic cotton travel pillows and are using them every night. Why would you need a bigger pillow? We decided after we were home that we did want a new mattress cover, and asked for guidance and ordered online. It was here in a flash. I previously reviewed this place when I bought a bed for my 4 year old. It was a great experience then and a great experience this time around as well. After purchasing my son's bed I fell in love with the latex beds and promised I'd be back to purchase a new bed as soon as I could afford it. We have had our new king size bed for 2 months and it has been fantastic. We bought the customizable version that had the future option of changing the top layers for firmness for only a few hundred dollars. I was lucky enough to get an organic latex mattress with box springs on a moving sale price. They set up 18 month financing. We also bought a reclinable be frame on sale, that also was very high quality. We also ordered risers to make the bed higher so we could easily vacuum under it because the frame is extremely heavy steel. Installation was very professional as well, they were very careful not to damage anything and since they were rushed offered to come back to set up the entire bed for free. This is the best mattress I have ever had. If that wasn't enough, they sent a box of brownies and a thank you card for our patronage, and a 20% discount for future purchase. They have lots of great pillows also! I might be back. Also mattress covers that are not polyester, so a much cooler sleep like the latex mattress itself. Very friendly owners. In order to fully understand our mattress odyssey, please see my review of Sleep Train in Rocklin. Suffice it to say, we had a really eye-opening experience. "Conventional mattresses" (I guess it would be rude to call them what they really are) are made of crap and the stores that sell them are part of a racket. Just one consumer's opinion... I found a store in the Bay Area that makes their own mattresses. Spoke to a colleague who wasn't over the moon about the bed from them. We were feeling a bit desperate and out of viable options for non-toxic sleep solutions. Yelp to the rescue. Found the Healthy Bed Store as we were about to meander by European Sleep Design. (My parents like their bed from them.) We went by the Healthy Bed Store and it was closed. WIth two small kids, we had actually hired a sitter so we could look without interruption and understand what we were getting ourselves into (onto). Wayne (the owner) happened to be in the store and was kind enough to let us in. He spent over an hour with us, explaining and letting us try everything out. He is incredibly knowledgable and his background lends credence to what he's telling you. On top of this, he's exceptionally patient. We ended up buying a bed from them and are very, very happy. (You may note from our other reviews that that is not always the case and these 5 stars do not come easily.) We also bought our toddler his "big boy" bed. He loves it and we feel really good about what he's sleeping on. We've been back several times for bedding, etc and have continued to have great experiences with Wayne and Claudia. Our son loves Cody, their dog. All in all, it's a great experience. Wayne and Claudia are incredibly accommodating. They follow through on what they say they will do. They consistently go above and beyond to ensure happy customers. In addition, their product selection is exactly what one would expect - no green-washing, lots of good options, including organic, in a broad range of prices. Love that you can unzip the mattress cover and see what you're actually getting. Wayne came to the house and "built" our multi-layered mattress when it arrived and has provided great support and service, answering all questions. Going to make this as short and sweet as possible. The wife and I were looking for a new bed, something besides spring beds. We found that no matter how good of a spring bed you buy, eventually it wears down and the pressure points begin. So off we went to look for a new bed. We bought a new bed frame and all from him as I support local business and it was fantastic to know that not only did I choose a small business but also a mattress manufacture that makes their beds from start to finish in the USA while being green! So Wayne delivered all of our stuff yesterday, set it all up in about 1 hour and was professional. We slept in our bed last night for the first night and funny thing is that prior to buying these beds I thought some of the reviews were funny when people mentioned they can't wait to get back to their beds and love love love their beds and NOW I know what they mean!! The bedinthebox silk elegance is HEAVENLY! Seriously I was amazed to the point where my body is use to waking up several times a night from my 6 year old Sealy Posterpedic $2400 matress from pressure points killing me and now on the first night sleeping on my new mattress I woke up 4 or 5 times and it was almost comical...I woke up and realized how comfortable I was and fell right back to sleep. Sure, the customer service was great, I worked with Wayne on the purchase of a Natura NexGel mattress, BUT, the real kicker was the PRICE. Wayne had the best prices I could find, and I looked in a 2-hour driving radius from my home on the San Francisco peninsula. Delivery fee?? No charge. Not sure how long he can keep that up, but no delivery charge was the icing on the cake, especially when local stores in the Bay Area were charging $90 to deliver the same product to my home. Back to the customer service aspect: I am incredibly picky and researched ad nauseam before making such an important purchase. My wife was pregnant and with considerable back pain, and we just wanted to make sure this bed would last us for another 10 to 20 years. I kept coming back to Wayne with questions via email and phone over a several week period and he demonstrated tons of patience and was willing to spend time talking even after I had asked the same question several times. I also purchased some blankets from his store and there was a small issue with one of them and Wayne worked with the manufacturer to get a replacement. I just received it today with no extra charge. Wayne kept his commitment of great customer service even after I made the big purchase. I learned of the Healthy Bed Store from my mother who purchased an infrared sauna, and he provided them with the same great deal, great pre and post sales customer service. I love that there is an organic/eco mattress store in Folsom! It was so fun to walk around the store trying out the different mattresses and pads that were all healthy and made out of better things. The guy who worked there was also so knowledgeable and helpful. We ended up getting our new mattress, a nice topper (since we actually got one of the cheaper harder organic mattresses), two great pillows filled with natural rubber that feel like the great fluffy pillows I loved growing up, and even organic sheets and cover protectors for said items. We took the deal of using the 0% financing on our purchase for a year (it might've been more) which was so nice. I'm just sad that I no longer live in the area when it comes time to get another mattress or pillow :( read more

After exhausting myself with TONS of Internet research on beds, I decided I wanted as healthy of a bed that I could afford. Claudia and the staff were extremely helpful, they spent a lot of time educating me about the importance of a healthy bed, different latex, foams, toppers, etc. I spent 3 hours on a Saturday and came back on Sunday and spent a few more hours. Great mattress store!!! We bought a latex mattress from this place about a year ago. We wanted a non-toxic latex mattress and this was the only healthy mattress store in our area. We spent a long time researching latex mattresses online and trying out the mattresses in the store. I came in about a month ago for a new mattress. I had done some research on the 'bed in a box' mattresses and was happy to find a place that has test models out to try them! I ended up getting the pac bamboo in a king. We absolutely love our mattress! And I loved the service from the owners here. After a month of searching, countless hours of laying on different mattresses and going back and forth with sales associates, my girlfriend and I were at our wits end. We went to every mattress shop within the Fairfield/Vacaville area only to be disappointing wherever we went. We were constantly being pushed by sales associates on mattresses that quite frankly we didn't need ($4K and up) and didn't want (higher gross margin mattresses). Enter The Healthy Bed Store which FYI, is one of if not the only store that carries this brand in California. I originally spoke with Claudia on the phone earlier in the week. She was very nice, welcoming and informative. She gave me the sense that her store that she owns with her husband, wasn't just in this for the sale but they generally want to provide a sleeping solution for us. We made the hour and a half trip up to Folsom and it was worth it. We primarily worked with Wayne, who was just as informative and inviting as his wife. He didn't push any bed upon us, instead giving us the different options that they had. He let us take the lead and was there to provide us information. He was very helpful and really a breath of fresh air compared to what we had been through the past month. I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a new mattress to give The Healthy Bed Store a chance. They will make you feel welcome, won't sell you on something you don't need, and are there to provide solutions as opposed to padding their commissions rates that you would receive at the larger franchised stores. Most important, the customer service was outstanding. Wayne's knowledge base was amazing. He had a better range of products than any other store in Northern California. He knew what every mattress was made of, where they were made (he had visited most of the factories) and the pros and cons of the materials. He invited us to sleep on the mattresses and offered to make that happen at our convenience. The delivery and set up was free, even though we have a two story house and he had to hire an extra person. He also removed our old mattress. After two visits and several hours we were able to find the most comfortable mattress for my tailbone issues and one that would not aggravate my allergies. I ended up with a Natura NexGel. I have had the mattress for over 5 months. I am actually sleeping less hours because I am getting such quality sleep. I was also impressed by the price. My wife and I ended up buying the Pure Latex Bliss mattress with the topper along with the Leggett and Platt adjustable foundation. We have never slept better. I really appreciated their knowledge of their products and how honest they were when they did not know the answer. They even went a step further to call company's directly to find more definitive answers that addressed our concerns. We made 3 visits to this store before making a purchase due to gathering information of which items we should purchase. We tend to research a lot before making big investments. I really appreciated the staff's patience with us as we took some time to make a decision. They were also courteous and didn't try to persuade us to buy items we were not interested in. Wayne & Claudia gave us wonderful customer service and a great deal on an incredibly comfortable "Healthy Bed". We were long overdue for a new mattress (12yrs.) and decided we'd purchase a new one to enjoy in our new place in Folsom. After reading numerous reviews about mattresses online, I had decided I wanted a "Healthier Mattress" due to all the toxic ingredients in most. The next step of finding a place locally that sells them led me to reviews of the local mattress stores. After reading these reviews on Yelp! , I decided to give the Healthy Bed Store a try first. We were warmly greeted by Claudia and Wayne as we entered the store. They were available for questions but were not pushy at all. They made us all feel very comfortable as we set out "Goldilocksing" the mattresses we were most interested in. We gravitated to one of the Natura beds on clearance. They never tried to sell us up but just continued to patiently answer our seemingly endless questions. After deciding on a bed, I inquired about pillows and learned an amazing amount about pillows as well. We added some organic Kapok pillows to our order and a bed frame on clearance too. All with zero pressure which made it so much easier for us to decide what we wanted and what actually felt good to us. Not only physically but financially. Wayne was even able to deliver our bed, frame and pillows early when our moving date moved up. So we had our bed for our first night in our new place which was icing on the cake since we were exhausted from moving. The delivery was quick and professional. No packaging and plastic to deal with either! Yeah! We literally feel as if we sleep on a cloud now. No more smashed shoulder from side sleeping and no more neck kinks with our new Kapok pillows. I found the Healthy Bed Store in a most unusual way. My son, who lives in Boston, got a new bed about a year ago and wanted my husband and I to try it when we came to visit. In the middle of September, we did travel to Boston and fell in love with his bed -- Bed In A Box -- which is typically only sold over the internet. After a lot of investigating by me on the Bed In A Box website and by calling the company directly, I was told that there were 6 stores in the USA that have their product on their showroom floors. The closest stores to me (I live 70 miles outside of Los Angeles, CA) were in the San Francisco and Sacramento areas. I wasn't about to fly up just to see and try out a mattress. However, it just so happened that the timing worked out perfectly. I was already flying to Sacramento two weeks later to visit a friend in Auburn, CA which is only about a 45 minute drive from Folsom. So during my visit, I drove to Folsom to the Healthy Bed Store and that's where I met Wayne and Claudia, the owners. The experience at the store, from start to finish, was enjoyable and informative! Wayne and Claudia were both very helpful and knowledgeable, patient and just nice to be around. There was no high pressure selling, and I was able to try the bed that I came to see, as well as try a host of other beds to use as comparisons. It was well worth the drive, both in terms of testing out the bed that I wanted to buy and finding out from Wayne that he was allowed to order it for me. The price would be identical to the price on the internet, and all of the terms of the contract and warranty would be the same as well. But the advantage was that if there was an issue of any kind, I had Wayne who would "have my back" so to speak. In addition to the bed, he was able to show me some accessory pieces that I was interested in that I could "touch and feel" as opposed to just ordering over a website, and the prices at his store included a discount not present on the website. I got a price quote for all of the items that I wanted, telephoned my husband down south who said "do it"! So the next day, I placed the order with Wayne. All of my new items arrived timely from three different locations. My husband and I love our new bed and mattress protector. We also love our new sheets. But guess what? There was a problem with the sheets. I emailed Wayne and included photos of the problem, and within 30 minutes I had a response from Wayne. In his email to me, he told me that he was forwarding on my photos to the sheet manufacturer and was looking for a response from them within one day. He assured me that the situation would be resolved, and that it probably would involve the manufacturer replacing the sheet set for me. I have absolutely no doubt that Wayne will follow through and get this issue settled for me quickly and satisfactorily. He has demonstrated what he promised to me when I came into his store -- exceptional customer service! I can't say enough about his integrity and honesty. Thank you Wayne (and Claudia) for keeping your word. I hope you read this review, because I want you to know that I wish I came into contact with other store owners who are as ethical and as nice as you two. read more

Very knowledgeable owners with an obvious passion for healthy beds. The store had NO chemical smell and there was no pressure to hurry and buy anything. Delivery was on schedule and one piece that was missing (my pillow) at delivery was personally delivered within a day. I love my all natural latex bed, and all that time I took to choose it and all the research I did (and was encouraged to do by the owner) really paid off. I went there with one bed in mind but purchased a far better bed for me on my third visit and thank the owner (Wayne) for taking the time to talk me through it. read more

We love our bed! It's been a year since we got it and we sleep so much better! We bought a Naturpedic made of latex which is a natural material. The owner, Wayne, is very well informed and not at all pushy. We spent several hours trying out different combinations of densities, which meant he had to move around different layers and he was always so pleasant and helpful. We left without promising anything and he was as nice as ever. We were back a month later, convinced of getting latex. Big thick conventional mattresses always end up sagging, especially king size and they are filled with a lot of nonessential materials and fillers which just compress. We have just the amount of cushion we need, which allows the hard edges of your body to sink a little but there is great support for your back. And it's easy to turn. It is not hot like memory foam. We also got free delivery to Placerville with set up by Wayne himself. I so recommend this store and their products. read more

Shopping for a new bed at The Healthy Bed Store could not have been more pleasant. Both Wayne and Claudia are willing to share whatever knowledge they have and they have a lot. One of the most impressive things about our experience was that Wayne is probably the best communicator from any retail store in which I have purchased. He called several times to let us know the status of our bed, delivered on time and installed it very quickly. We are really enjoying our new mattress.....we both are sleeping so much better than on our previous mattress. Visit this store first and you may not need to visit a second. read more

I came here to look at the Bed-In-A-Box mattresses in person and Wayne was fantastic, showing me the line and explaining everything. I did end up ordering one and through my own screw-up made a huge error on the mattress ordered and Wayne was able to work through it with me and get me what I really needed.
