This is a supremely comfortable mattress, but there are a few important things i wish i knew before buying: 1. Unlike nearly every other mattress seller, there is no window for returns. Most mattress vendors, even online ones, offer 30 days. 2. The mattress cover is *not* removable for washing; it's not supposed to ever be washed, even in cold water, because of shrinkage. 3. If the head of the bed frame is raised a few inches on risers, the topper will slide down toward the foot and need to be hoisted back up to the top every few days. 4. The topper of the same size is somehow a few inches smaller than the mattress. read more

This is a long overdue review - cannot say enough good things about Tim or Seattle Natural Mattress. Speaking honestly, we've driven by the location a million times, and would've never thought of stopping in to look at mattresses there, but decided to based on someone else finding it online. Our old spring mattress was long overdue for replacement. We stopped in here as our first stop, not really sure what we were looking for - and convinced that mattress shopping would be dreadful. Tim made it super simple and easy. His products are straightforward. His pricing is straightforward. And there was no pressure. We left his shop and went to 2 other stores where we had the opposite experience, and saw similar mattresses for twice the price with long lead times. We turned right around and went back to Seattle Natural Mattress and placed our order. Tim makes them right in the store and a week later our mattress was ready and delivered. It's been almost 3 months and we absolutely love the mattress! Couldn't imagine having anything else. Thank you Tim! read more

Updating my review, now I realize this place is too expensive. He charges $200 per inch of latex when you can find similar quality products online for $150 per inch. Look for the mattress underground and you'll find other places. The owner of this place (a former Chiropractor) sells organic, GOTS certified Dunlop and Talalay mattresses at a pretty good price. I bought a 6" firm Dunlop mattress from this place as well as a 3" Talalay topper. I got a good price (better than other places) so I bought it from here. He also doesn't put flame retardant materials in his mattresses (he even makes them himself). Tim (the owner) can be reached at any time and delivers the mattress himself. The Mattress Underground (www.themattressunderground) recommends this place as well. read more

My 2.5 year old was ready to graduate from her toddler bed and Seattle Natural Mattress came highly recommended by a family member in my search for a low-odor, natural mattress for the new bed. We ordered a twin mattress that was ready a couple days later (you get the option for pick-up or free delivery). Purchase experience is pleasant and simple. As I'm not a mattress expert and don't have many reference points, I can't describe the mattress other than that it appears to be made well with high quality materials. Most importantly, my kid slept for 3 hours her first time napping in her new bed, easily passing the comfort test. read more

The absolute worst furniture/mattress buying experience in my 48 adult years of making such purchases. I am an advocate for supporting small businesses, but I'd pay a couple bucks more in a heartbeat to avoid this one. I placed my order on June 18th for a mattress and adjustable bed frame. My first clue should have been that this guy asked ME to find someone to help HIM make HIS delivery. I'm in my 60's and live in a senior building. Most everyone here is on a walker or oxygen tank. When I said I didn't have anyone, he hemmed and hawed about how he'd have to see what he could do about finding a helper and how he didn't know when a helper might be available. I should have cancelled right there. Doing his job is not my problem. Then the frame, which he ordered from a warehouse in California, and which should have arrived within 10 days, ended up taking 20 days. He knew there was a problem, because he mentioned that other items he had ordered from Kentucky had already arrived. To be fair, I don't know if this issue was because he didn't order it when he should have, or if the factory delayed shipping it, or if it was the trucking company's fault. But there was no follow through and no communication unless I kept calling him. When the merchandise was finally delivered, the frame arrived damaged, obviously due to mishandling by a forklift. It had tears in the cover. I said, "You have to put in a claim with the trucking company and the manufacturer". Instead, he returns with patches you use to cover a hole in your jeans, and burns the cover, damaging it even more. Next, he tells the factory rep to put in a warranty claim. Three weeks later, still no one has contacted me to make a repair. So I try calling the manufacturer. I asked them why has this been turned into a warranty claim, when the frame arrived damaged? How did this become a problem between me and the factory, instead of between the retailer and the factory? I was told it shouldn't be a warranty claim and that the matter would be sent to a supervisor. I never heard from any supervisor. Well, I had a 30 day return agreement, and the deadline was approaching, so I told this guy to pick up his bed. He let me know he was coming on August 13th. As a courtesy, I called to remind him to bring whatever cart he needed to carry the merchandise out, because he would have to park in the driveway and carry it from the elevator through the secured garage, as I could be evicted for letting an unauthorized vehicle into the garage. All move-ins/outs and furniture deliveries happen this way at my building of 300 apartments without complaint. At this point I was told, "I don't have to listen to you. You don't have to buy my stuff. YOU'RE the one who came into MY store, and you don't make the rules (for pick up)." So what did he do. He sat in the driveway and waited for the garage door to open and snuck in. Management was in the building for a community meeting and he risked the very roof over my head. And I do believe going into someone's store is how commerce is done! Add furious to frustrated, and that was my experience. In future, I will never buy furniture from a one man business. Spend a couple more bucks and deal with a businessman who is not a flake! read more

We looked at a lot of foam mattresses and we decided on this company. The owner was wonderful to work with and the price was very competitive. We love our mattress. We picked two different kinds of softness for our king mattress and we are extremely satisfied. read more

Not sure we can say enough nice things about this company and especially Tim who runs the Seattle location. The materials are top notch and they go out of their way to make sure that you are satisfied and comfortable. Tim went above and beyond for us with a great sense of humor and infinite patience. He provided excellent customer service and it became clear in all interactions with him that customer satisfaction was his number one priority. We could not ask for more. So nice to find a vegan natural mattress option! read more

We found this little place on Aurora when looking for a mattress that isn't loaded with fire retardants. They use a natural latex and make organic cotton covers. Tim, who runs the shop, will let you spend as much time as you need with a mattress. We've purchased 2 beds there and sent many friends and family when they are looking for a quality and chemical free bed! Stop and check it out! read more

I was in need for a new mattress that was an odd size. We meet up with Tim at the Seattle store and he explained the all about his products. We were treated to great service and excellent customer support after we purchased our custom made mattress. The whole experience was top notch and if you chose to buy one from Tim I am sure you wont regret it. We re already looking forward to doing more business with Seattle Natural Mattress and Tim. Thanks a million Tim!! read more

First off, I'd like to say that I've never made a product review before! So, it's a big deal that I'm writing this review now! I feel strongly that Seattle Natural Mattress is a great business that deserves recognition! I was in the market for a new mattress, so while visiting my sister in the SeaTac area in March 2014, my sister and I stopped into Seattle Natural Mattress. The owner, Tim Ley, explained all our questions about latex mattresses (even the silly ones)! He was funny, inviting, and didn't "pressure us" to buy. In fact, he even prompted us to check out his competitors, giving us some nearby names and addresses. Tim explained that he makes his mattresses with an "organic cotton zipper cover", so that his customers know EXACTLY what's inside the mattresses he makes...100% pure latex! When I decided that latex was the BEST option for our new mattress, I called Tim and placed my order. I live in Roseburg, Oregon (which is about 7 hours from Seattle). So, Tim met me halfway (in Portland) when our mattress was ready. He loaded it into the back of my minivan and away I went! When I got it home, my husband expressed that the mattress wasn't firm enough for him. So, Tim graciously remade our mattress with a firmer latex and delivered it to Roseburg. Did I mention that I live 7 hours from his shop?! Now that's customer service! You won't be disappointed if you shop at Seattle Natural Mattress! P.S. - If you're reading this, look directly below to the light grey text that says "8 other reviews that are not currently recommended." You'll find that other people feel the same as me. This is a great business, and it's too bad that Yelp didn't "recommend" the other reviews. read more

Had an issue with my mattress during Covid. Unfortunately, Tim had an old phone number that I had used when I purchased my mattress. He tracked down my correct number and reached out. Great interaction. read more

We bought our mattress from the Portland location, and are very glad to see there is a Seattle location, since we are now in Tacoma. We love our mattress, it's the most comfortable one we've ever owned. My husband is a big guy with back problems, and this mattress has been wonderful. It's been three years and it's still in great shape, when we need another we'll be getting it from Seattle Natural Mattress. read more

When we were shopping for an organic mattress, we came across Tim's shop and decided to go with him because of the excellent reviews that centered on his customer service. I cannot express how happy I am with our decision. Tim spent a ton of time with us to figure out what we wanted all the while tolerating my beasty and active three year old son. When he came to deliver the mattress, he showed up with a gift for our little one. But that isn't all. Eighteen months after buying the mattress, we moved to a new house and the movers slashed the mattress while moving it. Tim came to our house to repair the mattress and replace the cover all for a very reasonable fee (which our movers are paying) and was responsive, kind, and helpful throughout the whole thing. Even though he had sold us the mattress over a year ago. You only get that kind of service with a local expert who values his customers. Seriously, this place is the best. read more

Excellent organic mattresses without the problematic additions. Last year we purchased a natural fiber latex mattress from a different reputable store, but had to return it because the wool batting in the topper had compacted into channels. The all organic latex mattress from Seattle Natural Mattress replaced it. It is completely customized for us - we selected the density and thickness of all the layers by actually trying them in the store. The cover is attractive and durable, but has no additional layers that can compress or change over time. The owner is extremely helpful and straightforward, and went out of his way to get our mattress finished and delivered as fast as possible. And - we saved over $1000 on a king size mattress over any other comparable latex option - and that is with the upgrade to organic latex. We are so impressed. (Latex mattresses are not inexpensive, but they last forever when done correctly. Seattle Natural Mattress prices are MUCH lower than their competitors for comparable products. $$ price range reflects both the general expense of latex and the specific savings.) read more

After exhaustive research, I decided against having my daughter or myself on a flame retardant treated mattress, as they can use any toxins; have no requirement to list chemicals used; and, are mostly poisonous as well as absorbed through breathing and the skin. I checked many of the companies that claim to make "organic" mattresses, however; most of them "use" organic - among other - materials. Seattle Natural Mattress is the only place I found that has 100% organic, chemical free natural latex mattresses at a price that doesn't require sacrificing small children to the demons of the nether hells or selling appendages on the black market. Tim was great, took the time to make sure I knew what I was getting, made adjustments until I was satisfied, and even rushed my order. The art of customer service is NOT dead, it lives here, and I must say this has been money exceptionally well spent! read more

This is a five-star company. Owner Tim Ley makes, sells and delivers his mattresses made of natural, botanical latex. We came to Seattle Natural Mattress as refugees from the powerful off-gassing of our new Tempur-Pedic mattress. This was giving me respiratory distress, and in the third trimester of pregnancy I didn't want to wait the weeks the smell would take to dissipate (after a full week of airing out the room with a fan, the smell was still strong). Tim is simply a good guy who knows how to take care of people. He took his time with us during the sales process, met us on the weekend, gave us plenty of time to try the mattress, and worked with us after the sale to tweak the softness of the mattress - selling latex toppers at no profit so we could adjust the feel. Unfortunately for us, we couldn't make the latex work to our comfort. Our sense is that firm mattress lovers will do best with latex. We sincerely wanted to make this situation work, and felt that Tim would have continued partnering with us until we found a good solution. Since I'm now eight months pregnant, we found it was a bigger priority to get the mattress situation taken care of before the baby comes. But please, particularly if you like a medium firm or firm mattress, give Tim Ley and Seattle Natural Mattress a look. read more

My husband and I are so pleased with our entire experience at Seattle Natural Mattress. We've had our mattress for 1 month now and are in love with it! Tim, the owner, was so wonderful to work with and helped us find the right fit for both of us. As others have mentioned, customer service is definitely his strong suit. He invested a lot of time into making sure we were both satisfied and sleeping perfectly. I love that he creates the mattresses locally and uses 100% organic latex in all his products. Thank you for everything Tim! We are both sleeping soundly and comfortably thanks to your patience and hard work. read more

Walking into this unassuming shop, I was quite sure if this place would provide me my Dream mattress. Things you need to know. Tim, the owner has great knowledge of latex mattresses and involved in the mattress making process and product . He runs the operations end to end and very dedicated to his craft. If you want a product you can trust , this is the place for you. The shop is functional and simple, no glorified ads , models , statements. The choices are simple , 3 base styles, 3 topper styles. The delivery process is about 2 weeks and you handle disposal of your old mattress. We ordered a firm base with a medium topper. The result is the most supportive mattress I have had in years. The shop is on aurora ave and parking is available in front of the shop on the street. When you walk in, if u don't see anyone, just call out, Riley or Tim will come to greet you with a smile. I loved my experience here and more importantly, I LoVE the product. read more

We did lots and lots of research on latex mattresses. Not all "natural latex beds" are created equal. Seattle Natural Mattress is definately the way to go. Honest, to the point. We are so excited to have gotten a 100% natural latex mattress from Seattle Natural Mattress. We've been sleeping on our new bed for 4 days now and I tell ya it's a world apart from standard spring or memory foam beds. I am waking up refreshed with no back aches or shoulder pains caused by the sinking effect of substandard mattresses. The natural latex breathes and I am rest assured there is no off-gassing. Its deffinately an investement to your health and sleep and with the beds lasting 20 plus years... can i say more? We love our bed! Thank you Tim! read more

What a difference a good mattress makes! My only regret is that we didn't discover Seattle Natural Mattress sooner. Tim is great to work with and gives straight up explanations of how he makes each mattress of only the best organic latex. One of many selling points is that the natural latex is much cooler to sleep on and oh so very comfortable. My husband was very skeptical but he is a huge fan after sleeping on it for a month. Here it is, as succinct as I can make it: (1) Tim the owner is a top notch low pressure but highly informed ORGANIC LATEX BED pro. (2) He assists you in trying out various formulations of components of bed {support layer} and {topper layer} firmness levels until you go WOW, "I'm floating on a cloud"... (3) He discusses variations such as should the Topper be combined inside with the support section or separate with its own cover, so you the customer get all of the variations to make your personal best decision. (4) He then personally delivers and sets up the mattress after personally building the components for you himself, all with great attention to detail (just look at his organic cotton covers to see what I am saying, they are well made and well stitched. (5) Did I mention his pricing is as good or better than an online price, not kidding. CONCLUSION: The best experience, buying the best product, from the best guy, for the best price..!!! I love my bed, thanks a lot Tim, ...warm regards Bill Brower, Tacoma WA. read more

I bought a mattress three years ago and loved it so much that I just recently bought my second mattress from here. Tim genuinely cares about his customers, and the mattresses are high quality. I have chronic back pain and this mattress gives me the support I need for restful nights and more productive days. With my second purchase I originally bought a softer topper, which turned out to be too soft for my back and Tim happily swapped out the two inch topper for me, no questions asked. read more

I LOVE MY NEW MATTRESS. After suffering with a Costco deal (since returned), I found Tim and the Seattle Natural Mattress company. Tim was helpful but not pushy and answered all my questions and he didn't look at me funny when I came back for that 3rd lie-down test. It took a while for delivery because of a material delay but the wait was worth it. The price was very fair compared with others in the natural latex market. It's been 6 weeks and still, every night, I get in bed and think...OMG, I love this bed! There is no odor, it's supremely comfortable and I couldn't be more satisfied. I recommend Seattle Natural Mattress without hesitation. read more

This review is to highlight the excellent small business, Seattle Natural Mattress, run by Tim Ley. Tim is an incredible stand-up guy. A number of weeks ago we visited his store and submitted payment for one of his comfortable mattresses. A week or so later, Tim delivered it himself to our address in Issaquah (23 miles from his store). Tim was very accommodating in working around our work schedule for delivery (which was free!). For no fault of his product or service, we unexpectedly had the need to return the mattress. Tim agreed to take it back for full refund, no questions asked. He even drove back out to Issaquah to pick the mattress back up. Tim just wants all of his customers to be 100% happy and he really went out of his way to ensure we had no issues. Despite our return, he made it clear that he'd still love to have us as a customer in the future should circumstances change. As a result of his efforts, we would wholeheartedly recommend his business to anyone. read more

After using traditional mattresses and trying memory foam, we've now found the best mattress for us. Tim at Seattle Natural Mattress educated us on latex when we visited the showroom and the mattresses and pillows seemed very comfortable. We called back to order and he delivered our new mattress and pillows within a few days. We later decided to order some mattress supports and these he delivered immediately. We both find the bed and pillows very comfortable and noticed immediately a difference in sleeping on a chemical free mattress. I now look forward to getting to bed at night! If you are looking for excellent customer service and a wonderful product we highly recommend Seattle Natural Mattress. read more

My husband and I recently purchased two twin mattresses from Tim at Seattle Natural Mattress. We wanted different degrees of firmness-- my husband likes a firm mattress and I wanted more softness. It was important to us to have no fire retardant chemicals. Tim gave us lots of information and there was no pressure to buy. There's also a lot of information on his website. We're happy with our mattresses and would buy from him again. read more

Tim was amazing and we would definitely buy from his shop again. I'd done some research beforehand, but my husband was skeptical that a natural latex mattress was for the best. Tim helped educate us both, while also entertaining our two and a half year old son. Even though Tim was in the midst of relocating his shop to Fremont, he was able to deliver both the mattress and the frame to our condo in Mill Creek - within a couple of weeks. This was very impressive, especially considering the mattress is custom made. We are completely thrilled with our wonderful new bed seven months later. It smells great and we feel safe and comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful experience! read more
