I bought a mattress from Seattle Mattress Co about 3 years ago (2022-ish). The mattress caved in a bit and I was past the return window but they still sent out an expert (Alex) to take a look. Alex is the one who originally sold me the mattress and agreed it had caved in and he and the owner, Tony, were very generous and easy to work with while picking out a new one. I'd recommend this business not just because of their mattresses, but also because of their exceptional customer service and professionalism. Picking out a mattress is not easy but they made it easy. I was very overdue for a new mattress and I'd reached the end of my rope. I've lived in Sunset Hill for 9 years so I'd passed by this store hundreds of times. I wasn't interested in buying an online vacuum-packed mattress again...my old one lasted about 6 years but I'd suffered through the last 2 years of owning it. I went onto their website and looked around, then called the store with some questions. Tony, a true gem of a guy. Listened to my needs and didn't try to sell me the most expensive stuff and wasn't pushy, just well-informed and helpful. He even told me to come in and pay ahead and he'd give me the Black Friday discount early. He listened when I'd told him that my back was hurting me terribly and I was waking up more tired than when I'd gone to bed. Maybe it was an off day for them, I walked there with my dog, was sold a mattress that broke down where I sit and watch TV, used pillows to even it out, they did come, got the broken one, put in a new one. Chipped my woodwork during installation. The mattress is so heavy I can't move it to make the bed, so I sleep on top of the mattress with blankets, can't move it to put on sheets. Yes, two young men can move it, I am 70 yrs old with arthritis, doing what I did when I was 20 years old doesn't happen anymore------things change with age, it might be hard for young people to realize that. In the store was the same, Alex wasn't pushy, was knowledgeable, and honest about the contents of the mattress. If you're shopping for a mattress now, there is SO much information and just constant marketing words thrown at you. All just to sell you what seems to be basically the same foam. Most of their mattresses are made locally by Canvas Supply Company, one of the oldest companies in the Seattle. Canvas Supply Company is a family owned and operated company since 1882. Their other mattresses in the shop come from Serta (locally made in Puyallup) and Therapedic (locally manufactured in Auburn). If it's important to you to shop local, you'd be hard pressed to get more local than this. I wanted to buy a mattress here but to be honest, their prices were too high for our budget. I ended up comparison shopping here before making an online purchase. I want to support local businesses but it's hard to justify spending several hundred dollars more when I can just click a few times and have a new mattress all the way form Italy. read more

This review is for the mattress I purchased two years ago, and also for the store experience. I've purchased a mattress there in 2018 taking quite a bit of time to select what I thought was the correct one. Seems like a theme with a lot of people writing reviews where they've been sleeping on this horrible old mattress for 15 or 20 years and that was the case with me. I ended up buying a queen size demo mattress (Seattle mattress company, organic) because it's quite an investment for me and I figured by the time I'm done wrapping it in an allergy cover and a mattress pad it wouldn't matter that it was the floor model. The salesman told me that I would have the same warranty on this mattress if I had purchased a new one. What could go wrong? Well I was looking forward to this so much because I hadn't been sleeping well on my lumpy old mattress. Did you know that your new mattress needs to be broken in? what a nightmare. For weeks after delivery of the new mattress I did not sleep well. The mattress seemed too hard and I thought I made a mistake. I called Tony to ask him if there was something wrong with the mattress and he mentioned something about it needing to be broken in but also added that I purchased it as-is and so there was nothing he could do to remedy the situation. After checking the invoice I was given at delivery I realized that it said "as-is" on it, with all the commotion of the delivery I never noticed. So BUYER BEWARE! This seller is not true to his word. Finally after several months I started to sleep better which was quite a relief. Well now I'm two years down the road on a two-sided mattress which I was flipping every month or so and now I'm again starting to have problems not being able to sleep on it, it feels lumpy and hard. I find that I sleep much better for a few nights if I flip it. But who has time to flip a queen size mattress every week, especially when you have it wrapped in a mattress pad and a protector which both need to come off each time. This mattress should not be wearing out already. One average weight person sleeping in a queen size mattress and flipping or spinning it regularly. I think it's a subpar product and they are definitely not customer service oriented. read more

I have a European king (71x79) size bed and LOVE my bed but the mattress was up for an update. Very hard to find a workable solution here in the US for non-US sizes until.... We purchased a firm, 18" queen mattress here a few months ago, and we love it!! We were in the market for a few months and checked out a few different places, but ultimately this place won in terms of quality, proximity to home, and nice customer service. The lady who worked there saw us during both of our visits, and she didn't pressure us into buying, just walked us through the facts. It was more expensive than I'd hoped, but the quality has been perfect. My only complaint would be that the delivery was a little slow, we waited about 1 week for our mattress to arrive - and we only live 5 blocks away. But I recognize that this is likely a normal thing for mattress companies who only deliver on certain days of the week. Once it got to our place, the delivery folks were very friendly and speedy. We've been rotating the mattress as instructed, so hopefully we won't face any sagging or wear/tear problems. So far it's helped our sleeping experience tremendously, it's pretty hard to get out of bed in the morning! read more

Seattle Mattress Company has a good selection and very competitive prices. I especially liked the natural foam mattresses. I ended up buying a mattress elsewhere because I had a weird experience in this store. The lady helping us was very nice and helpful, and I appreciate her effort to help us find the right mattress. But the salesman who was also working at the same time was very rude to her and actually yelled at her twice while she was talking to us. It was all very awkward and made me want to leave. Even though I loved one of the mattresses and would have bought it, I didn't want my money to go to that guy, so I bought a different mattress elsewhere. My advice: 1. We were disappointed with Seattle Mattress for a few reasons - the store felt really dirty and the sales person was busy with another client during most of our visit (understandable). Long story short - I'm an awful mattress shopper. I bought a Serta floor model mattress 6 months ago and didn't realize if I didn't like it, I couldn't return it. I hated the mattress immediately, but instead of working with the owner or manager to get it resolved, I spent another couple hundred dollars on a good topper. Well, 6 months later, my mattress has just gotten worse. It has a huge sag in the middle! It's quite uncomfortable. When I talked with Steve about it, he asked me to send him a few pictures of the giant dip (I'm not a large person, btw). A week or so later, Steve called to tell me everybody there worked with the Serta mattress manufacturer on my behalf. He said they are going to consider it a mattress defect (or something along those lines) and I should come back in and PICK OUT A NEW MATTRESS. Six months later. Floor model. THANK YOU, Seattle Mattress Company! I'm heading in today to pick out a firm mattress that I'll enjoy for the next 10 years. I couldn't be happier and more relieved. Buying a mattress is a huge ordeal, and it's an expensive long-term investment. Due to losing my previous bed because of an evil apartment and mold situation, I found myself in the market again. It's been a few years, and just because a place was good before doesn't mean it has stayed that way. Lucky for me, this place STILL is the best I've found. The staff is actually the same as a few years ago and my favorite, Steve, is still there. Troy, my new sales guy, is also excellent and hand carried my mattress to deliver down the street and up 2 flights of stairs so I could have my new bed the same day. I shopped around the local department stores and mattress shops but it was here that my wife and I found a mattress we could both agree on. Prices were competitive for the higher quality. They did a wonderful job at tying the mattress to the roof of my car, though in hindsight I would have arranged delivery. Still happy with our mattress two years later. No hassle and no confusion in the product line, there were plenty of examples available so you know what you're buying. Concerning the Competition: (One thing that annoyed me about the other stores was that they all carried national brands like Sealy, but identical mattresses were sold under different names so that you couldn't negotiate a better price... Some stores even offered to beat any price or issue a rebate if you found a better price after purchase, but this is a scam since they know they are the only ones that sell a particular model). read more

Supporting local is very important to me, so I was thrilled to discover that not only is this company family owned & operated, but that the owners were born and raised in the Seattle area! Owners aside- this company has a great selection (very wide range which is great for picky sleepers like myself), and truly knowledgeable staff. We received the perfect amount of customer service; the lady was attentive without acting all "used-car-salesman" and attacking us. She answered all of our questions honestly and genuinely wanted us to walk out happy and satisfied with our experience; even if we ended up purchasing a less expensive mattress. Once I made my selection the company was very prompt and professional with my delivery, and they made sure to take good care of my new mattress. Next time I need a new mattress I won't even bother looking anywhere else! My family has furnished two houses and a condo with mattresses from Seattle Mattress Company. Each time we have been extremely pleased with the selection, price and service. The staff is extremely friendly and never tries to oversell you. They are honest with you if they think you are spending more than you need to. Nevertheless, their prices are cheaper than other stores, especially for add-ons like waterproofing. Our cabin has a few built-in beds and Seattle Mattress Company made custom mattresses for each one. They are very accommodating and great to work with. I can't recommend them enough. read more

I was in a real bind because I only had one more day on my current apartment lease and the mover I had hired to move me to another apartment in my complex had bailed on me leaving with a broken bed frame. I tore off to Seattle Mattress, asked if I could have same day delivery and have the workmen put together the new frame. The woman manning the desk couldn't have been nicer. Set it all up, the mattress people came at the time they said they would, put the new frame together loaded the bed up from the floor and took away the broken frame. I was ever so grateful and I highly recommend this facility for the best possible service. Both of the service men were courteous, did exactly what I asked for and I was a happy camper. Buying a mattress from Seattle Mattress Company was the worst purchase of my life. They delivered a used mattress with fake tags glued to it. It wasn't the model I chose and paid for in the store. The top of the mattress is extremely uneven and the entire thing squeaks.The fabric is loose and has a terrible odor. I spent over a month of my time shopping for a mattress as it was a very important purchase. The store hasn't responded to me at all and now I have to file a law suit and complaints with the state. My review 3 years ago would have been much better than my review today. We purchased a mattress from them 3 years ago this month. By the end of year two, our mattress had begun to sag in the middle and my wife and I rolled towards each other giving us both bad back aches in the morning. We rotated the mattress faithfully to try to find a way for it to work. About 3 weeks ago, I went to ask Tony about a warranty and he said we had a 20 year warranty so we're good. They came and got the mattress and brought back the same mattress "rebuilt" ten days later. We noticed the dip was there and never really got better. We decided to wait to see if it got better and it never did. One of the things that was so great about this mattress at first was that there could be motion on the other side of the bed and I couldn't feel a thing. That response never came back after they "rebuilt" it. The bed felt like nothing new was done to it and we are very disappointed. I called Tony today and asked if we could get a new mattress since the repair did not work. Silly me, I thought that's what a warranty means...not fixing something repeatedly, but replacing it until the customer is satisfied. He said they would not do that because "just because you said it doesn't work, doesn't mean they will just give you a new mattress." Why would I make that up? I guess I don't understand the meaning of the word, 20 year warranty. At this point, he said he asked me if I wanted him to call the repair department and to go back to repairing this and being without a mattress again, I hung up. I see all the great reviews here and wonder if we got a "lemon". Regardless, the answer isn't trying to fix the same bad mattress over and over again, it's replacing it. We bought a queen size pocketed coil innerspring SMC own brand mattress and box spring. They delivered it after airing it out for us. No smell whatsoever. Very nice firm yet comfortable mattress with no creepy chemicals, gels or memory foam. Highly recommend their SMC brand. Great price as well. Will be buying 2 more for our other bed rooms. read more

I received an absolutely awesome customer experience from Seattle Mattress Company. I was only in Seattle for a couple of days prior to making a journey with my boat up to the San Juan's. I made a quick trip to their store and tried out serval of their mattresses. My wife and I both quickly chose the Seattle Mattress Company's Marine Elliott custom queen-size with pocket coil innerspring and Talalay Latex ILD pillow top with natural tensile upholstery and marine mesh backing. We had them add a hinge and custom-made the mattress to fit our V birth. We have now slept on the mattress for the past two nights. Talk about sleeping on a cloud! We are both 68 years old and neither of us are waking up with the aches and pains of our previous mattress. We are seriously considering purchasing a mattress for our home even though we will have to haul it back home almost 400 miles. I cannot over exaggerate the service we received and the quality of the mattress. We also purchased their custom mattress protector and a set of custom sheets. I was pleased with the employee who helped me (I think he was the manager) he was very patient with me as I am insanely indecisive. My boyfriend and I had 2 totally different ideas on the kind of bed we wanted, shape, size, firmness, you name it. I am long overdue in writing my review but this place is amazing. First off, Tony is excellent and was VERY helpful and knowledgeable. There was no pressure to buy and he was very patient with us. We had some issues with delivery but these guys went above and beyond for us. I live in a townhouse with narrow stairways and the bed frame we bought would simply not fit through the stairwell. After going over some options, the owner came out to my house and suggested hoisting the frame over the balcony. The next day, he personally arrived with a team of burly dudes to help make it happen. We love our bed and I'm sure if we had gone with a big box store they would have said "sorry" and called it a day. This place obviously cares about their customers. If that doesn't win you over, I don't know what will. I only wish I needed to buy more mattresses so I can give them more of my patronage. read more
