I got a Groupon as I always wanted to try a Head Spa. There were flags I ignored during the attempt to call to book and it said the subscriber doesn't have a voicemail box that has been set up yet flag #1. I was also asked to text my voucher which I did and it was confirmed that it was received. I get to my 60 min appt today (11:30am) and I was asked for it again & told it wasn't in the system. That's flag #2 as it was confirmed via text with a male (who also says he's the Receptionist & part owner). I was looking forward to this as life & my job is very stressful. Michelle did my treatment & asked if a trainee (Hannah) could watch. I said as long as it's (the experience) is quiet aka relaxing I'm fine with that. Apparently Michelle is the other part owner & she's the 'Master Aesthetician'. The treatment went well/relaxing for the most part I don't say anything during my treatments in general since there's a level of "reasonability" and things happening during manual manipulation treatments in general, e.g. hair pulls, pokes, etc. So when I felt her pinch my left eyelid during the part where they have a hot towel on your face and they massage your face, I didn't think anything of it as I'm sure she 'didn't mean to' since there's a towel on our faces at this point as customers. Things happen right? I also have a high pain threshold. The spa water thing that moves also bonked me in the head when it rose up to the top of my scalp. Again, would I say anything, no, but I was going to ask if that was normal when I left. Fast forward to when she takes off the towel for the finishing moves of the treatment, she asked me if it was mascara or a mole (she was referring to my left eyelid). I was thinking, huh? but I said probably mascara since there's always some residual even after taking make up off at night. I didn't wear any make up or products on my face when I arrived today since I. knew they were doing a facial treatment. When I touched my left eyelid, it was a raised bump. I was thinking what is that?? I look in the mirror after I got dressed and go in the hall to see Michelle and Hannah with a bottle of water (8 oz). I said this was not there when I came in. Michelle's approach was not one of concern, it was deflection. When I told the front desk male about it. It was again met with out any concern. He did take a photo of my eye but said I'd need to take it up with Michelle (the one who did the treatment & is the other part owner). I also said he spoke to me when I came in (I was the only one there at the time), I said you saw this wasn't there before. I even showed a picture I took last night where it wasn't there. He said 'we can't go by that we'd have to go by the camera (he pointed to the live camera surveillance). I said ok, it would show it there too. Michelle comes out and I'm met with more ignoring of what happened. I said what can be done? Or is nothing done about something like this since we sign a waiver? She said she didn't do anything to cause that. I again said it was a pinch of my eyelid during the hot towel part. She proceeded to say "you didn't say anything at the time". I said, I wouldn't and normally don't. I also said I didn't expect this to be on my eyelid. I also said I talked to you, him, and Hannah right before going into the treatment room, this wasn't on my eyelid before. She said she didn't notice. She also said this hasn't happened before, this is the first time. I was met with a room of stares and no accountability or care or concern. It was a lot of gaslighting, ignoring, and unethical responses to a very visible injury to my eyelid. I was surprised (but not surprised) that the trainee said nothing either. The more I think about it, the treatment its very much done without anything on our faces so the aesthetician is looking at our faces and even using tools on our faces. It is and should be very clear (especially by her reaction/words after taking the towel off at the end-"is that a mole or mascara"), that this dark raised bruise/blood blister looking thing on my eye was NOT there before I laid on that table. It's also telling that when I got home to my boyfriend he said "oh my god what happened", and I told him everything. He also saw me right be3fore I left for my 11:30am appt which was 11:20am. I said I wanted my 2nd Groupon cancelled since I don't want to come back based on this experience (the gaslighting and ignoring of what clearly happened during the treatment - non intentional it seems). They said I'd need to contact Groupon which I did and they handled it for me. The male front desk person/part owner has a photo on his phone, I have one too and I sent it to Groupon immediately after getting in my car. Accountability (it's reasonable to expect this) is half of the issue for what seems to be an unintentional injury, the fact that didn't happen & I was gaslit, is the worst of all. I know times are tough and I am new to Arizona but they gave me an address for this place and it took me to a mobile home park? They said it was temporary but I didn't realize what I had signed up for. Sorry, I would have still gotten the service if maybe you adjusted your prices to like half of what they currently are while running your business out of a trailer home. Kind of ruins the experience before you even get started. Again, I am not from Arizona maybe this is normal here I don't know but still leaving five stars but wanted people to know. This is a cute spot with really friendly service. Everyone was SO nice! I really appreciate that and almost feel bad writing a review... but it is what it is. Unfortunately, I don't think what I received was really worth the price. I opted for the long "creambath" experience, which includes a small facial in addition to hair services. It was advertised as $175, but I was charged (pre-pay too) $181.13 (the extra charge was just labeled "head spa" but maybe it was tax?). That was a lot of money for what it was. I was treated to a lot of various massage and some different treatments. I left with big hair, but I can't say that my hair or scalp seemed any different in texture or softness, though. It was just kind of big and bouncy. My skin also seemed pretty much the same after. All that aside, it wasn't even the very relaxing experience I had paid for because the table was very hard and flat and the pillow under my knees provided very little support, so I got an excruciating low backache halfway through. I kept having to move and fidget. It was hard to relax because I was so physically uncomfortable. I also got hives along my neck and hairline that night, but that might just be a me problem. That said, there was no discussion about sensitivities or choices of products to use, so keep that in mind if you have sensitivities. I was really looking forward to experiencing this spa especially after the TikTok campaign. I had questions so I called and got their voicemail, which said to text. So I did. I went to the website as instructed booked but it didn't give me the option to book two around the same time. I let them know and they call. I spoke with Lee who immediately put all error on the end user, me. And he contributed that way through the entire call so I explained based on his service I want to cancel. He hung up. I call again to make sure it's canceled and I get a refund and this time he gaslit me telling me we already had that conversation, which we did not because he hung up. When I called him out he said it'll be canceled and refunded and then hung up again. At no point did I raise my voice. My partner also called to get it sorted and Lee said he was the manager and told him I was whiney, did not listen, and didn't know what I was talking about. Terrible service. I highly recommend they replace Lee or give him customer service training because I will not go or recommend their services until they do. read more

I've always wanted to try a head spa, so I came here for my first time. I booked a 60 minute head spa service and booked online easily for a next day appointment. The price seemed fair for what I got for a 60 minute session. The ambiance of this place is super cute with a lot of pink decor and furniture. They had relaxing music playing and soothing water sounds. The room I was in, wasn't completely enclosed but it was separated from the hallway by a curtain. It felt private enough, but the downside was you could hear everything going on in the lobby and in the building. Since it was my first time, I had no idea what to expect. They brushed my hair and used some kind of scraper tool I would assume to get the dead skin off, but they were a little rough when brushing my hair and when using the scraping tool. At one point I thought my scalp was bleeding from how hard they were scraping, so I didn't love the scraping part. Not sure if that's normal. Then they washed my hair and I have curly hair, so I wasn't sure if they use a specific shampoo / conditioner based on your hair type but I would hope it's good quality being a head spa. But I felt that the quality / texture of my hair after using their products wasn't as good as the products I use. After washing, they also use this steam thing that completely covers your scalp, and it made my face really hot and felt like it was burning a part of my scalp (after how hard they were scraping). After a certain point the steam was way too hot and hurt my head so I asked her to take it off and she did, The lady was very sweet. They also include a little massage on your neck, shoulders and chest which was nice. Overall I enjoyed the experience, but I do feel they were a little rough, but the lady that worked on me did work hard and was very sweet. read more

I've tried multiple head spas in Az and no one is doing it like HeadsUp Spa. Ask for the Vietnamese woman with a short black bob and glasses! She is the BEST! It was the closest if not better than the water spas I went to in Vietnam. My scalp and hair felt so clean afterwards and they actually massage your scalp down to the back of your neck too. Service was excellent. The receptionist was so sweet and helpful too. It was a little pricey but i went to one in Phx that was $75 with my girlfriends and would have gladly paid extra to go back to heads up again. They actually blow dry your hair here too! The salon is clean, inviting & cozy. The care & attention Michelle puts into her work is unmatched. The treatment included face, head, neck and shoulder massage that was so relaxing. While conditioning, they activate a steam with essential oils and continue with a hand and arm massage. After the treatment, she finishes with a blow dry, so you're not leaving with wet hair. I SO wanted to love this place. But it fell extremely short of any expectation I had. I paid for the $130 package (70 minutes) The heads Up Spa experience. It was constant cold water being used on my chest and my head. The massage was literally a 2 minute rub. She rubbed my shoulders for 30 seconds. There was no scalp massage, just a lot of scratching. It felt like she was just trying to rush and be done with it. There was no hair treatment after the conditioning, no leave in product. She rubbed lotion on my face and that was it. Being that they do facials there you would think maybe a little toner, serum and nice moisturizer. My skin felt awful, tight and dry when I left. I got dressed, used the restroom, paid, and walked back to my car and realized I had been there for LESS than an hour when it was supposed to be 70 minutes. I left there thinking this has got to be the absolute worst treatment I have ever had. I had planned on bringing my daughter next time but that's a big hell to the no. This is more like a $50 treatment. $130 is an absolute joke and scam. read more

I am neutral with the overall experience but for transparency's sake there were a few things that would've changed the entire experience for the better. First impression walking is was that the establishment was cute, clean, and welcoming. Michelle greeted me, checked me in, and walked me to my room. She gave me the breakdown of what to do and stepped out for me to change. The table/spa bed was comfy initially but after about 15 minutes or so, even with 2 bolsters under my knees, the bed became hard and made my back start to ache pretty badly. That in itself took away from the experience because now I wasn't able to focus solely on the spa service. Next, the products used (specifically the shampoo) made my hair feel tangled and matted while she did the scrub routine. She did a great job at making sure not to get water in my ears while rinsing which I greatly appreciated. The neck and shoulder massage took the cake and was the best part of the entire service she did an amazing job with that part! In the end I think I might of even dozed off a tiny bit here and there, so it was a cool experience. Just not one that I would be willing to pay $130.00 for again. It was more of a $65-$70 experience in my opinion. read more

I am one of those people who gets tingles when someone slowly washes/massages my hair, and I booked an 11 a.m. Slap and Go for a birthday week gift, which doesn't include a massage, facial, etc., which I typically don't care about--I just wanted the scalp attention. Two women who were there to get services together at 11:15 had an error with their booking, while my booking was correct. However, the guy working the front had the two women go back at 11 and then offered me a discount of $25 if I waited until 12:15, and he tried to make it sound like there was a system error with my appointment (which he admitted there wasn't when I confronted him). I agreed to the discount...but then he offered to upgrade me to the Heads Up Experience, which is only 10 minutes longer than the service I booked. I didn't want the extra stuff but agreed since it wasn't much longer, and why not? He later attempted to upgrade me again to a 90 minute treatment that involved a cream bath, and I firmly declined as I was already starting over an hour late and I didn't want all the extra services. He told me that most women would have taken it because "women like to pamper themselves." I told him I did, just in different ways, and that my time was very important and I had other things I wanted to do. I want to make it clear that the service itself was fine, and Tori was very nice. But I believe I ended up getting the 90 minute service anyways, because I got to my car with a sore lower back at 2:00 (she took me back around noon). What should have been an hour visit before lunch ended up being three, and while I can appreciate the efforts to "make things right," I didn't feel listened to and was given what I didn't want in the first place. read more
