My son began attending here when he was 2 1/2 and before then we had one bad experience when he was 12 month's from a daycare in Temple Hills MD. Needless to say he was always home with me and it did take him 2 month's to become adjusted to being away from me BUT I knew it was because he wasn't used to being away from his mommy NOT because he didn't like the center. Now when I drop him off he is all smiles and gives me hugs and kisses and is off to play. They provide healthy morning snacks and evening snacks, you provide your own child lunch and breakfast, they give the children outside time WHICH IS REALLY LOVE AND APPRECIATE any moms out there who have toddler boys knows how much energy they have and allowing them the opportunity to go outside is awesome! The perform developmental tests to make parents aware of how their child is developing. They are hardly ever closed except for major holiday's. They have structured schedules and they do a lot of hands on activities and they give the parents their creations to take home(I hang them on his wall ^_^) This daycare is truly a diamond! They also provide "Date Night's" where they watch the children(for an extra fee) for a couple hours once or twice a month so the parents can have alone time or rest time lol. However, he seemed to have a hard time settling into this daycare and the "owner" made it her personal responsibility to call me every single day to tell me how badly my child was behaving. we agreed to meet once about three weeks after he joned the center and we discussed ideas on how to help my son settle into the transition, i did everything i had to do and the school never reported back on what they had to do. We had a meeting scheduled for the following wednesday to discuss progress/concerns but instead the owner thought it was best to send me an email on saturday instead to tell me how she has decided to immediately terminate my son's enrollment, two months into the program. I know they will prepare her for kindergarten. I just hope whatever kindergarten she goes to is ready for the level she'll be at so that she doesn't regress. After several interviews with other child cares I just didn't feel comfortable with the providers. Liz responded to my inquiry and we set up an interview. She welcomed myself, baby, and partner with a happy greeting and really took the time to explain her set up and her policies. When it was time for her to hold the baby he fell in laughter with her. We all were so happy and laughing at how instant he gravitated to her. My son is a happy baby but he feels peoples energy very easily. Sending your baby to daycare is always hard. No matter what, it's always scary. You hear so many horror stories, it gives everyone anxiety. They have cameras in the rooms that you can access and that's what helped get me through the door. What kept me there is the infant classroom teachers were amazing. They loved on my baby and for me that's the most important thing. Anywhere you go, there will be some issues, because it's your baby and you want everything to be perfect but that's not life (unfortunately). If I had a problem it was addressed immediately. There were some safe sleeping concerns in the beginning involving blankets and it was handled swiftly. I never felt like I needed to start saving for bail money lol They also were amazing during my pumping process. They handled all of the milk etc with care! This is important. If you're a soon to be new mom reading this, and you plan on pumping, I promise this will be so important wherever you go. Guard that boob milk with yo life! They also did amazing with transitioning him to solids etc. Almost all of the teachers are so sweet. My son loves them. They really made our experience excellent and I will really miss them. That comfort in knowing your baby is with a caring teacher can't be beat. I pray our new daycare has a staff as good as most of these teachers. They had good activities for the kids and i felt like he was always in a developmentally appropriate and stimulating environment. I would recommend them. Sometimes I wanted to see more academic work, but they were sufficiently engaged with colors/ shapes for me at his age. The few negatives: The pricing- it's high, but it's high at a lot of places. It seems to vary a lot and they do charge more based on how long you stay. Also the cameras were ok, by the end I stopped using them because I trust his teachers, but a lot of times the angles were bad and the picture quality is a C-. Also we had some teachers who were just ok, the other ones are so sweet and kind, it definitely stood out. They rotate classes so you should always have at least one of the amazing teachers - which helped. There were also times a kid in class was sick and we wouldn't hear about it until later. Not sure how soon it should be, but if there's a potential contagion, I want to know as soon as the office does. I also can't speak to the older kids room as far as academics. As with anything with your child, stay involved, ask questions, and speak up. And as for some of the complaints I've seen, if you want one on one, go to a house. But if youre ok with your kid developing some independence and like a daycare setting, this one is perfect. And my son can be a crier and they comfort him (probably too much lol) but sometimes they have to attend to other kids - and that's reasonable. If you want your kid to learn through engaging activities, develop socially, and feel loved and safe come here. If you want a rigorous academic daycare or be coddled all day, then this may not be the best place for you.
