On 8 May 1999 I heard advertisements for The Joker's Jinx . I remember I didn't like the ads for the ride, but I knew I would certainly ride this ride. The day I went to the park, I rode many rides, because I know the line for this ride would be long no matter what time I went. When I finally arrived to the ride, the line was long, but there were refreshments for those in line. The lemonade hit the spot and I had plenty of time before I rode the ride to get the fluid into my system. When I saw the paint job for the Joker, I never thought emerald green and purple went well together, BUT THEY DO. Oh, I was young back then. I even bought a Joker's Jinx tee shirt. At that time I wore a large tee shirt. I don't remember what happened to the shirt, but I know I through...no...I believe I gave it to good will. When I finally got to the gated area, you had to pass by several mirrors that made you look distorted. For my first experience I went straight to the back where I had to wait a little longer. Why, because the rear is tighter? Because I like it in the rear? Or because the rear of the car is the fastest. This answer is the best answer. The front is the slowest, but the rear end gets pushed forwards because of the force of the front of the car. The middle seats are a natural point. In this case since it is a blast coaster it pretty much doesn't matter until you feel the rear end of the car moving faster from the pulling of the rest of the cars. The spiraling looks to the side way turns make this rollercoaster a lot of fun. Listening to one of the operator say "Hands Up, hands up, I wanna see your hands." Once everyone's hands were up, he would hit the go button and everyone in the coaster cars would shoot forwards. I would love to say The Joker's Jinx started the blast coasters craze, but it wouldn't be true. Still, I had a lot of fun. This ride is a steel ride and steel rides have been know to be smoother than the wooden rollercoasters. I wouldn't mind going on this ride again. I would call this a high thrill ride.

For being 100 years old I really expected this coaster to be all bad like super rough and yeah but that wasn't the case on my ride in the front row as I felt it was decently smooth for being this old and wooden! I'm pretty sure this is the oldest coaster I've ever ridden and I take that into consideration when I justify the roughness of the ride as for being this old it's not that bad it's good to see that Six Flags America is keeping this 100 year old coaster in this good of condition in our nations capitol! Overall I expected a lot less of this ride and what I found on this very day is a great old school coaster that's still kicking it 100 years later so make sure you get to ride it as you never know what might happen to it in the future with all these new Hybrid Coasters popping up!

Screams of fear and joy. This beautiful wooden rollercoaster became my favorite at Six Flags America. Superman:Ride of Steel is one of my favorites, but Superman ain't saving shit when it comes to this mighty Roar. This ride does have some jerkiness to it, but it has its smoothness too. Also "there were originally two roller coasters, with the first one built in 1998 at Six Flags America followed by the second one which was built in 1999 at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Both rides were designed and built by Great Coasters International (GCI). In 2015, Discovery Kingdom announced the retirement of Roar at its theme park, but the park later revealed that it was being renovated and transformed into The Joker with I-Box track technology from Rocky Mountain Construction." At least the body structure was saved so the Joker's Roar can still be felt. I have been on this ride 5 consecutive times before I had to leave the station and do it again. If this confused you i will explain. If you ride the rollercoaster and no one is standing at the gate where your sitting, you don't have to get up. You can stay and ride the ride again. If someone is there, but no one is in the cars behind you or in front if you, you can get into that car and ride the ride. It beats having to walk around to ride the ride again. I highly recommend riding this ride and you might even ROAR.

This isn't the type of adventure you can show up to on a whim. You have to schedule a visit in advance. I scheduled a date and time over the phone. They took my credit card info, a contact number and my kids' names. The first date I scheduled was cancelled due to inclement weather. Pirate Adventures called and cancelled the adventure about three hours prior to when it was supposed to start. I elected to reschedule right then. I was instructed to arrive a half hour before our adventure so the kids could get their faces painted and pick out a sash. We parked on the street a few blocks away not realizing they have a parking lot. We checked in, the kids were given name tags with their name and an alliterative adjective (ie Zig Zag Zora and Kung Fu Kieran) and then reported to the face painting and sash picking area. After face painting kids and adults boarded the boat and the Chesapeake part of the adventure began. The captain went over a few safety measures with the adults while his assistant went through guidelines with the kids. The adventure has a whole story with different parts involved that kept the seven kids on our adventure entertained. Ages ranged from probably three to fourteen. These parts included a map search, treasure hunt, key finding expedition, pirate fight and a final pirate bounty quest. For the adults, we just hung out under a shaded portion of the boat. I got up to interact with my kids a few times and to snap some pictures. Mostly I just enjoyed the boat ride. The whole adventure lasted almost two hours (counting face painting). If you have kids that love to pretend and don't mind riding a boat, Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake might be right up their alley.

11/1/19 The greatest…read morelog ride I have been on. This ride did something I have never seen another log ride do.  This ride (before they changed it) started out going forwards.  Then part way through you went up a medium size hill and the boat rotated 180 degrees.  You then went down the second part of the ride backwards.  The best part of going backwards on this ride is this...YOU CAN SEE WHERE YOU'VE BEEN. Remember the words of Willy Wonka "Willy Wonka there's no earthly way of knowing which direction you are going." Well this is true and it was a lot more fun. Going up the last part of the hill in the head of Skull Mountain gave you the feeling of being in trouble. When you got to the top, the boat you were in did another 180 before you flew down the hill out of the Skull's mouth and into the river of spewage. You may notice the water is clear.   There was on one occasion the 180 degree machine at the end of the ride malfunctioned and some lucky riders got to go down the final hill backwards. My mind says I did once, but I think that is a bunch of bullocks. The wait time for this ride on a hot day could be two hours or more. Once again Six Flag associates would stand by this ride selling drinks and food. I saw this bit of information about Skull Mountain's closing. I was there during the last 14 days it would be open two different times. "Six Flags America has revealed that it will close the Skull Mountain water ride on July 10, 2011, in order to make room for a new attraction that will open in 2012. The closure of the hybrid water ride/rollercoaster is set to be marked by a number of special events at the park. On June 13, a boat will be placed on Six Flags America's midway to offer unique photo opportunities for guests. Then, on July 9 and 10, Skull Mountain's demise will be commemorated as part of a special "Fare-thee-Well Weekend", including a two-day Pirate Festival. This will feature pirate makeovers and special entertainment from the cast of The Blundering Buccaneers stunt show. Those wishing to be one of the last ever riders on Skull Mountain can enter a special auction, with proceeds benefitting the Natioal Rollercoaster Museum and Archive. The park will also donate a boat from the ride to the museum following its closure. Speaking of the ride, Six Flags America's Park President John Winkler said: "For more than a decade, guests at Six Flags America have been thrilled and inspired by Skull Mountain, giving them the feeling of joining a one-of-a-kind pirates' voyage in Maryland's favorite theme park. It's a piece of history for Six Flags America and we feel it's fitting to give it one last stand." Skull Mountain opened at Six Flags America in 1997, and was originally named the Typhoon Sea Coaster. An Intamin reversing boat ride, it received its new name when it underwent a major update in 2007. A first-of-its-kind attraction, it was the tallest water-powered coaster in the world when it opened. No details have been revealed of the planned replacement for Skull Mountain, though it has been widely rumored that a new rollercoaster will open at Six Flags America in 2012." Yes, there is a new rollercoaster that took the place of Skull Mountain.  I did not care for this ride myself, but I will write about that later on.  I am just glad part of Skull Mountain is still left.  The last time I was there,  it was till up.I don't  think they took it down.  Well, at least I have the memories of riding it before it went the way of the dodo. I think people that don't like rollercoasters much or at all, might enjoy this ride, but now we will never know. I rate this ride a five, but if I could go higher, it would be a 12.

TOTAL RECALL If you…read moreexperience a complete memory wipe, it's probably from the brain aneurysm this coaster gave you. 'Mind Eraser' is your standard Vekoma SLC, now with optional virtual reality headsets. Much like the Oculus rift setup used on SFGAm's 'Demon' last fall, riders are given the choice of wearing goggles that place them in a completely immersive environment. Six Flags added VR headsets for the 2017 season and marketed the ride as "Galactic Attack", which makes a LOT more sense on inverted coasters than others, since every row except for the front has an obstructed view anyway. Can't see sh*t, might as well make a video game out of it. Odds are good that if you're a coaster fanatic like me, you've ridden one of these inverted clones before. They come in a variety of models -- some with an added helix, some with an expanded footprint -- but the inversion layout remains the same. Last summer I got the chance to experience 'Thunderhawk' at Michigan's Adventure, an identical ride. This one's no different. Unfortunately, as is the trend nowadays, VR is becoming increasingly common at parks as a way of breathing new life into aging or unpopular rides. This creates excessive lines and can nearly double or in some cases TRIPLE the wait times, even for those merely wishing to ride sans headset. I didn't get to experience this coaster's VR, as the combination of rain and a stalled train (smh) took this ride out-of-service during my 2nd attempt. Even without the goggles strapped to your noggin, the ride experience is pretty extreme. There's a great deal of head-banging (the painful sh*tty kind, not the Judas Priest heavy metal kind) and padded restraints don't do much to help. Exacerbating matters, this 5-inversion inverted coaster was basically built in/over a marsh, so muggy weather in warmer months will bring out mosquitoes like nobody's business. SFA stuffed this cookie cutter model into a far corner of the park, so it's also tough to get to. Eric S's SFA Coaster Ranking = 7th out of 8. + coaster review in 40 words or less + I'd recommend this ride for anyone running low on their personal Rufalin supply. It's cheaper (and faster) than a lobotomy; long lines and getting your ears boxed all adds up to a HARD PASS.

I think they should move every single SLC and Boomerang and Aero looper/corkscrew to one park, as they are the best and that park would be elite. Just don't take the ones in Wildwood, they're too smooth. Ew.
