Splash pad (in non Covid times)
    Juliet A.

This is a great playground and park about 30 minutes from my home in NW DC. The Woodland Wonderland is so attractive for kids, and unique features abound making this place really stand out. Lots of slides varying in height for all ages, a splash pad (for non-Covid times, wahh), a musical bridge - it's clear that this place is on the newer side. Holding back the 5th star because when we visited, we were pretty shocked at the TRASH everywhere! And one of the slides had a big, jaggedy broken chunk hanging out at the bottom. Maybe upkeep is a little slower during Covid but based on how nice the rest of the playground is, I expected things to be in better condition.

Nice outdoor Basketball courts, no lights

Awesome park and playground for kids! This is how you design a park for kids. It kept my little ones entertained for a long time. The whole design of the Woodland Wonderland is like entering into a mini amusement park or something. I def recommend coming here if you have young kids. There is also a basketball court nearby and there are bathrooms.

Football Game on the Turf Field

The park is amazing and has a misting area for hot days which is awesome! My son had a football game on the turf field which was a very nice field. The only thing the field is missing is 2 benches, they need one for each team. Other then that, it's a great football turf field, awesome playground, their baseball fields looked immaculate and they also had nice pavilions. Also, they had clean port-a-potties that didn't stink that was an added bonus.

Definitely should check it out. I would say there isn't a lot of like cruising space so if you're coming to get comfortable on your board try to come on a day that's not busy!

Finally, something legit in the DC metro area. Best blend of plaza and transition of any park in…read morethe region. Built in the fall of 2014, this is the latest Spohn Ranch addition to our area. Unlike their modest plaza at Wakefield and their luckluster design at Lake Fairfax, though, this creation is exactly what contemporary designs are supposed to be: blended elements that combine something for everyone, look like a work of art, and leave you constantly finding more lines. I am a fan of big transitions but this place is still really fun at mostly 5 feet high. The rails are of the medium to low variety (all round) and the ledges have lots of different approach angles, heights, etc...i.e. way more fun than your usual skatepark hubba. The trannies are a little bumpy but not so much that it's distracting. I only bring it up because I was surprised that such a well-done park has that as a (very minor) flaw. What creative genius on the Spohn Ranch team designed this place, and why couldn't they have done Lake Fairfax? Run, don't walk, to this place. Bonus for families: the kiddie jungle gym park a stones throw away is like something out of Knotts Berry Farm. It must have cost a fortune, has restrooms, and a mist section for hot summer months.
