I booked the double party package for my daughters birthday this past weekend. The process was pretty easy. I had some questions so I emailed them since they weren't open and they answered fairly quickly. Upon arrival the tables were set and we were able to get skates and on the rink fairly quickly. I liked the option to have a guest list so that as our guest arrived they could just come in. I was confused on how the charges worked but she explained that for each kid skater the adult was able to come in for free unless they needed to rent skates. My guest had a really good time. The service was great they were prompt with our drink and pizza order. The DJ was the highlight for me! Although there were several kids parties happening (wild!) the music made me not want to get off the floor although I was risking it with all the skate buddies that were out there but overall a great day. I'm definitely looking forward to going back!

7th birthday party!!

My little one had her 7th birthday party here. The planning process was extremely easy - no stress, they answer questions efficiently and pretty much lay everything out for you. Reasonable cost considering you can have everything there. The kids and adults in attendance had a fantastic time. Only minor complaint is that with some many events happening the staff seems to have a hard time keeping up with each list. People advised they were for the party and was never questioned as to what one, etc or if the kid(s) were on the list. Definitely stay on top of it to make sure the kids are accounted for, parents aren't paying, etc. The venue itself is a bit outdated, and should be updated a little, a little TLC would go a long way, but it's clean and welcoming. I heard other ppl complain of a damp smell but I wasn't aware. We've gone for family night and on Sunday's and have also had a good time - the employees in the rink are very nice to beginning skaters.

My little guy taking a quick skate break. He had a good time.

Sportsman's Hall Roller Skating Center - Fun times!

Sportsman's Hall Roller Skating Center

What a fun throwback experience to go roller skating at Coppermine Sportsman's Hall! The parking…read morelot is huge, so it's very easy to park, and it's free parking. The place is pretty easy to find though it is unlikely you'd just happen to drive by it, as it is kind of not on the beaten path. You can purchase everything ahead of time in terms of skate rentals and entry. It's pretty reasonable for one session mid-afternoon until close in the evening, you just need one entrance ticket/fee paid. You get your money's worth for sure if you are there for hours! You can bring your own skates or rent skates here- they have regular roller skates and roller blades. Both of these are in whole sizes, no half sizes, and both of them would be best on your feet with high socks that go to your lower calves, at least. Tying them tightly gives you the best skating, but that also pinches into skin if you don't have the right socks. They have an area for parties that includes a few arcade games, but mostly, you're there to skate. There are people there who are serious skaters going wicked fast and throwing some cool tricks, but we never felt bad in any way for not being one of the super talented skaters. There's a snack bar, too, with your classic fare like burgers, hot dogs, nachos, fries and funnel cake fries. Yummy snack junk food that makes the experience all the more reminiscent of young carefree days! They have lockers for your stuff, some don't even lock, but no one seemed concerned. There are benches for sitting and changing out your shoes to skates and vice versa, and people tend to just stash their shoes under the benches rather than get a locker. A good time all around and pretty affordable if you're there for a while!

Attended a birthday party with my seven year old son at Sportsman's Hall Roller Skating…read more Upon arrival, we were greeted at the front by an employee who was solely dealing with party check in. That's a great touch, as it got us through quickly without slowing down anyone who wasn't with a party. My son was given a voucher for skates and, after greeting the party guests, we headed over to get a pair. This was easy. He was in a pair of skates that fit in like two minutes. I planned on just sort of hanging with him but was informed outside shoes could not be on the skate floor. This was his first time so I sort of let him go and...it wasn't good. Thankfully there was a referee who helped him return to me. At this point I decided to get him a skate pal and rented my own pair of skates (both of which were super reasonable prices). The skating rink seemed to be in mostly good shape. There were a couple questionable spots. The rink has a DJ, snack bar and some games that people can play when not skating. The food was fine. The games were fine as well. Neither was spectacular. The host that was connected to our party was very attentive and accommodating. She explained everything that she was doing (almost too much). The one negative is the bathrooms. They are not very conducive to beginning skaters. Trying to keep my son from falling and conking his head on the toilet was a bit of a chore. Taking skates on and off is also a hassle and there isn't really anywhere to store them in or around the bathroom. I'm not sure what the solution is but, just know, bathroom going at the rink while wearing skates can be an adventure. Overall I thought Sportsman's Hall Roller Skating was a fine place to attend a kids birthday party.

I turned around and walked right out of there without investigating further. The vibes were off in that bathroom, I can tell you that much. They seemed alarmed that I was trying to come in there at all let alone with a four-year-old, even though the bathroom was a public bathroom.... I don't know how this place can call itself a roller skating rink with that horrible floor. The skates were plastic and awful. I really feel ripped off and extremely disappointed. The chairs were disgusting. I washed all of our clothes and coats as soon as we got home. I will never be returning. Such wasted money. In addition there was a DJ playing music and it was so loud. My kids were extremely overstimulated and just yelling by the time we left, then complained of headaches on the car ride home.

Went here for the first time to try the roller skating rink. And all I can say is that this place…read moreis just "average." I love the concept, and this seems like a great place for an extreme beginner (like me) to practice because it wasn't very crowded when I went at 5:30 pm on a weekday. But there were so many things that I also didn't like about the place. First, the rental skates are DIRTY and DUSTY and DOWNRIGHT disgusting. They do not seem to be properly cleaned or maintained, and I don't think they are even sanitized between users. They only come in derby style (with the completely flat sole, without a little heel), and I also found them to run very narrow. (And I have a regular width foot in the most common women's size. So I'm not hard to fit!) I spent almost 30 minutes of my 2-hour reservation simply trying to find a pair that didn't hurt my feet and with wheels that rolled properly. The shoes themselves are super filthy and dusty with disintegrating shoelaces, and when you go to put them on, the wheels are covered in so much dirt and hair and they get your pants dirty just touching them. Second, it is difficult to watch your things while you're skating. There are no lockers or secure areas to place your things. Rather just outside the rink there is a long built-in bench you can sit on to put on your skates, with rows of open cubby holes above it for you to store your things. But the entire area is facing out -- away from the rink and toward the rest of the building. That means it wouldn't be safe for you to leave a purse there unattended, nor would it be wise to leave your water bottle either. Although I felt fine storing my jacket and shoes there, I had to carry the rest of my stuff with me (and I placed my water bottle on the inside ledge so I could try to keep an eye on it). The whole thing seems poorly designed for adult users. Plus it was dirty -- with chewed balls of gum littering the area and even random press-on fingernails in the cubbies. Third, the handful of "cabana" seating areas that are around the rink seem so beat-up and dilapidated. All the pillows are dirty and deflated. The wicker is beat-up. Everything about the place just seem unkempt and uncared for. Whoever owns this place ought to be ashamed! There is no reason for it to be this bad. Fourth, the rink itself is ok. It's not a shiny floor like you might remember from childhood, but rather a slightly soft black snap-together floor. It was perfectly fine for skating though. There is no "rail" surrounding the rink though. If you find that you need to try to break a fall/come to a stop, there is almost nothing but smooth wall. (There was some kind of light fixture plate jutting out from the wall--screws and all--near the emergency exist when I was there. It was a definite safety hazard, and I don't think the establishment even cares. Fifth, there does seem to be a food stand and restrooms nearby. But I didn't use either of those, so I can't speak to the quality, cleanliness, etc. of any of it. Sixth, there is a decent parking lot out front. But it doesn't belong to Kraken. You have to pay a separate company to park out front (electronically, kind of like using ParkMobile). So that sucks. This place should at least validate your parking for a set amount of time. Seventh, the bulk of the building is devoted to pickleball. There are several courts all over, while the skating rink is in the very back. When I first arrived, there was hardly anyone playing. But as the night progressed, the pickle ball courts all got lots of us with multiple crowds. Because the backs of the cabanas are super close to pickle ball courts, it would seem prudent to me to put mesh along the back of the cabanas, so that there's no chance of an errant pickle ball flying into the cabana and hitting someone -- let alone flying onto the court and hitting an unsuspecting skater. It seems like this would be a no-brainer from the establishment's perspective, but it hasn't been done. So all of these things made for a mediocre experience. Now what were the good things, you ask? Well, I think if you can bring your own skates, then it's nice to have a place where you can safely practice in NW DC (and without having to go all the way to the Anacostia skate park). But other than that, there's not too much more I can say. If this place were in an inconvenient location, then these 3 stars would fall all the way down to 1 star.

This is a multi-sport center located in Columbia, which offers mini golf, batting cages, skateboard park, mini arcade, and a mini snack bar. We paid $9.25/person since we were not a CA member. The mini golf course is decently maintained. I found it odd that half the course had water running and half did not in their "stream". Also, many holes had a lot of rock and leaf debris that made it difficult for the ball to roll smoothly and straight. This place is kid-friendly, but we waited anywhere from 5-10 minutes for each hole since it does take some time for kids to hit the ball into the hole. I honestly felt like some parents were rushing their kids or themselves since they felt bad for holding up the line. Overall, the course was nice and a decent place for families to enjoy a day out. One tip: this course is a lot more difficult than other mini golf places we've been to. I would not recommend this for little kids, as it was somewhat frustrating for adults. Some of the holes do not have "walls" and a wrong putt makes the ball go straight into the water. Also, don't park right next to the course. A few kids hit the ball outside of the course (going through the fence and into the parking lot)...

We were able to easily purchase tickets for time elected online. I purchased the adult skate 7pm-11pm w skates. It totaled $33 after fees. The Baltimore Peninsula building was pretty inviting. The kind Security Guard helped us w the parking specs. FYI: You have to pay $17 to park on the parking lot or on the street for $7. The parking fees were kind of disheartening. The skating venue itself was very nice. Once you get off the elevator, you walk into large inviting space. Everyone we had an encounter with was nice and helpful. There was a beverage set up in there as well as a bunch of tables. A bottled water was $4. That was a nuisance. The DJ was doing his thing. Great tunes to appeal to any music listener. Sadly, the evening ended w my ggggf falling and breaking her ankle, but that was no fault of the establishment. The employees were very helpful tending to her, checking up on her, and providing her w things of comfort (physical assistance, ice, water). I purchased my ticket on online and decided I would bring my adult daughter's skates instead of paying the $5 skate rental fee. The total cost for skating was around $25 including fees. When I arrived I was surprised to pay for parking in the lot across the street when there was no ticket system or gate however, street parking was a little cheaper. The skate location is located on the 2nd floor and of course there is a waiver to be signed upon entering. They have lockers and coat check for I believe $10 extra but, definitely pack lite if possible. The have a small bar in the back for drinks and several couches and chairs for seating. The DJ was on point as I have not been skating in years. We were all having fun as the night was coming to a close. I requested a song from the DJ and as soon as I heard the song I my skates caught on to one another which ultimately resulted in the fracture of my ankle. I was in excruciating pain and staff carrying me to couch and provided me with an ice bag and water until I was able to get further medical attention. All in All~ it was a fun experience until the end. Needless to say I have retired from skating and will not be back.
