This felt like a portal to a forgotten age. The only thing missing was 70s and 80s skating music. The music here is contemporary r&b and hip-hop. The rest of the atmosphere is very dated. That does not mean unmaintained, quite the opposite. The established looks very clean, and preserved: clean and well repaired. "Preserved", that's the word I would use. And for a child of the 70s and 80s, I could see myself having a Stranger Things party here with the setting already thrown in. We came here for my goddaughter's 7th birthday party. The party was around 30 kids. No problems were had regarding reservations or accommodations. The kids had a blast. The music was pretty loud, on top of a bunch of very vocal 5 to 8 years olds. Came here with a group of friends for a fun night out. I haven't been skating since I was like 13 so I was nervous but once I got my balance, the muscle memory came back and I had a blast. There were some things that I did notice about this skating center. Pros: I loved the cute photo backdrops and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Cons: The music was lackluster because the DJ repeated several songs. The skates were so uncomfortable. My foot developed a blister because the inner soles were so worn down. They definitely need to get need skates. Also, parts of the skating rink floor was warped and unleveled. While I enjoyed my time, I doubt I would come here again. read more

We spent over $500 on a birthday party here, 2 other birthdays were happening at the same time. All little kids. 1pm in the afternoon and the DJ was blasting very explicit tracks - no amount of profanity or graphic description of exactly how a bitch should go down on someone spared. I went in, the price was fine for what it was, but after getting into the actual rink I feel like I really understood why the price was what it was. We stayed for no longer than 10 minutes. Instantly upon walking in, there was a lady behind a glass door in an isolated room with the door to the rink locked, like it was a prison, instantly we were told any bags we had were to be searched and we couldnt even bring water in. I wasnt allowed to wear a hat but about 10 other people were wearing hats and durags of all sort. The music was so loud and obnoxious. They have so many crazy rules like no headphones for "safety" but in my 10 minutes people were passing me uncomfortably close.. like 3 inches type of close, doing tricks/spins around me. Nostalgic skating rink. Reminds me of the ones I use to go to as a kid. EVERYTHING is old (especially the bathrooms) but the rink floor looked to be nicely maintained. You have to pay a spectacular fee if you are not skating. Please eat before you come. The food is terrible and of course overpriced. Wings were over cooked and taste like air. I came here for an LGBT+ event with my friend and it was pretty boring. This place needs an update for sure. It's very outdated inside, even the speakers seemed very old. It wasn't really loud and it just looks and feels very boring inside. The management was very nice and friendly. For skate rentals it was $12 so it was ok for the price. Again, I had an ok time, there wasn't anything really memorable about this place. I have been here multiple times and it's always the same issues. 1. The place is old and the decor is dated. The sound system is terrible and randomly makes the music louder. 2. YOU CANNOT BRING WATER! I was shocked. Why wouldn't you bring your water bottle to skate? This rule is a very odd ploy for you to buy their overpriced beverages and cold food! 2. The dj is always mid to terrible. It's always beats nobody knows or old schools songs and beats the skaters can't dance too! The dj's adlibs are unnecessary and the random memes throughout the tracks are distracting and uncalled for! The music was terrible and it felt like you could barely dance. 3. The referees are always bias. People stand in the middle and the edges and go the opposite way and rarely get corrected! 4. Service is rude. The rules they choose to enforce are done so rudely. 5. The floor is UNEVEN and WOBBLY in many places! The is patches of dry flooring everywhere. They need to have the floor replaced ASAP! Not a fun experience for the price! You might find a couple of kids on playskool style skates on the floor, so keep your eyes open. This was the worst skate rink I've been to. The floor is hardwood flooring with no seal so it's extremely bumpy. I lost control of my wheels because of it. I had a pair of new skates so I thought that was the issue so I adjusted the wheels and still had the same problem. So I decided to just get skate rentals. The rentals were horrible they were old suede skates with no backbone or any kind of support. It felt like wearing a tube sock with wheels attached to the bottom. Even with the rentals I couldn't get complete control of my wheels. I tried to return them after going around the rink once and was told no refunds. The music was just a bunch of instrumentals. If the music was good we would've stayed for that but we just decided to leave. It was a waste of 40 dollars and a Thursday night. read more

This roller rink is 2/10 recommended. I visited the skating ring on a Saturday with the girls the Dj had a VERY limited playlist, every light in the building very bright atmosphere. Hours posted on the website didn't match actual hours. We were one of six cars who showed up at the time on the website. We didn't have cash (had credit cards and Apple Pay) and needed a locker. Costs 75 cents but they only take cash, so the skates had to come off and purse hidden in the car. The rink itself is in rough shape from apparent water damage in spots. The environment was fantastic and everyone there was friendly. The on the rink staff was also doing a fantastic job of keeping everyone safe. read more

I booked the double party package for my daughters birthday this past weekend. The process was pretty easy. I had some questions so I emailed them since they weren't open and they answered fairly quickly. Upon arrival the tables were set and we were able to get skates and on the rink fairly quickly. I liked the option to have a guest list so that as our guest arrived they could just come in. I was confused on how the charges worked but she explained that for each kid skater the adult was able to come in for free unless they needed to rent skates. My guest had a really good time. The service was great they were prompt with our drink and pizza order. The DJ was the highlight for me! Although there were several kids parties happening (wild!) the music made me not want to get off the floor although I was risking it with all the skate buddies that were out there but overall a great day. At $9 per person you should be able to listen to your music, what's the issue!? otherwise, not a bad rink the floor could use some polyurethane and the skate guards could be a little bit nicer. Classic (and I mean classic/old!) skating rink. They've got all the fixings -- couple of arcade games and dingey seating areas for relaxing your wheels before hitting the wooden floors again. The DJ was on point and there's always events going on here. Looking forward to going back for a fun Saturday, but the birthday packages are on point as well so I would recommend checking them out for a budget friendly party in which you get more than the average 50 min slot to eat/play/sing happy birthday then vacate like a lot of other birthday places in nearby HoCo. read more

My little one had her 7th birthday party here. The planning process was extremely easy - no stress, they answer questions efficiently and pretty much lay everything out for you. Reasonable cost considering you can have everything there. The kids and adults in attendance had a fantastic time. Only minor complaint is that with some many events happening the staff seems to have a hard time keeping up with each list. People advised they were for the party and was never questioned as to what one, etc or if the kid(s) were on the list. Definitely stay on top of it to make sure the kids are accounted for, parents aren't paying, etc. The venue itself is a bit outdated, and should be updated a little, a little TLC would go a long way, but it's clean and welcoming. I heard other ppl complain of a damp smell but I wasn't aware. We've gone for family night and on Sunday's and have also had a good time - the employees in the rink are very nice to beginning skaters. read more

This place doesn't deserve a star but a -star if I could. I took my daughter and son here for scotch town hill elementary fun night and let me say I was very disappointed. 1st one of the skate referees were very rude and nasty to the children skating I sat and watched how he talked to the child for 10 minutes and I couldn't take another moment. I approached him and told him your very mean and nasty these kids come to have a good time. Granted you are here to enforce the rule however it's your approach that is discusting. Children have feelings and are entitled to respect also. He didn't say anything just shrugged his shoulders. 2nd after 1 hour of skating they cleared the floor to go over the rules, after all the threats of what you better not do followed by I will throw you out repeated multiply times. Lastly. A young man was leaving one side of the ring with his snacks he bought to rejoin his friends on the other side. When an old man yells several times Ah, Ah you can't take that over there, in a nasty tone. What happened to excuse me young man. I was very pleased to the young man's response my apologies Sir I did not know. 3rd the place is run down, dirty, & out dated. I will never bring my kids to this place again, they treat there patrons as if they didn't choose to spend ther money at there establishment and there doing you a favor. When in reality it's the other way around and I choose to take my money and family to an establishment that has great friendly customer, service with a clean environment. read more

Roller rinks are rarely common, so it's great that there's one in Laurel! This is a great place to come with friends or by yourself. Pros: -Affordable -The rink is huge -Lockers are available for rental -Food is available for purchase -The staff members care about you and your safety. They check-in with you if you are struggling and give you pointers to help you succeed. -Lessons are available if you are interested in improving or honing your skills. -The parking lot is free and many spaces are available. There are three roller rinks within a 45 minute drive of Silver Spring, and this one is the closest at about 20-25 minutes drive. It's old and poorly decorated, but the floor is even wood and the skates are the old boot style that works better than the newer tennis show style. They have the half-walls to run into to stop yourself and no steps to get in or out of the ring. (Steps are annoying.) There are tot skates that my 4 year old loved (up to size 11 shoes) - he didn't fall down at all. They do not offer skate mates except during skating lessons. It's also not too crowded and not a sensory overload, both positlves to me. They offer inexpensive skating lessons on weekend, and they have a weekly (Monday?) morning tot skate where you can bring any wheeled devise you want and let your preschooler go nuts - a fabulous option for cold weather months. They also have weekend morning fitness skates and evening 21+ skates for adults which appeal to me. So I say this is the winning skating ring near Silver Spring. I wish it were spruced up, but my family had the most fun here of the 3 local rinks we visited. Of the three, I think it was also the least expensive by a small amount. read more

Ramp entry to wooden rink and half-walls partitioning from walkways. The staff is stern about following the rules to keep things clean and safe for all, but still fairly nice. If anything, they're spread a bit thin since the DJ also doubles at the skate rental counter (battered but serviceable half-calf lace-up quad skates). A dozen folks in the 30s/40s, about as many teens since there's little else to do in the suburbs, and lots of young kids during family nights. A few local derby girls are regulars here, as it's reasonably central to CCRG/DCRG/FSRD. Cheap entry, accepts credit card, average sound system, decently maintained floor, practice area in the middle of the rink. No phones while skating, and couple songs still allow singles to skate backwards. read more

Great skating rink and definitely great staff! If you need to order skate supplies/equipment or have someone check out your equipment the staff will easily help you out and can order it for you. I like the rink. The floor is clean and nice and the Wednesday dance sessions and lesson with waltz, tango, etc is lots of fun. They offer dance skating lessons and they are very good and inexpensive $5/hour group lesson. Beginner and advanced lessons are also offered and there is a artistic roller skating club that kids can join once they hit an intermediate level where they can compete in regional and national competitions. Used to skate here as a kid, some 20 years ago. Nothing has changed. No one has spent a penny in updating or remodeling a thing, It's dingy, musty & moldy smelling, the bathrooms are filthy, the food is horrible & the place is falling apart. The people that work there appear to town carnies. The parking lot is raggity, with potholes grass & weeds growing through the concrete. PLEASE REMODEL....SELL.....OR BULL DOZE IT OVER Or just shoot it and put the poor thing out of it's misery. It is an eye sore on the community, SHAME on the owner(s) for letting this happen. It can get a bit cramped in the locker areas on the weekends, but that's to be expected. If you have young children the staff allows them to skate at their own pace in the center of the rink and often handles dangerous behavior. The rental of the skates is fairly painless and if you've got a couple of quarters you can safely store most of your things in the lockers. Parties I've seen here seem to be organized, but I can't say as I've never gone here for that purpose read more

I took my 5 year old daughter here one cold rainy morning to burn off some energy and to try roller skating for the first time. We went to the 10am-noon open skate. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. One instructor, Tony, even gave my daughter a few tips for how to start out the first time. We plan to come back. My family and I went to check out Laurel skating Center, and it's really nice. I do think it's a little expensive. We were a family of 4 and only needed to rent one pair of skates and I just was not expecting it to cost as much as it did. Now don't get me wrong, it's a nice skating rink, but not worth the cost at the same time. Everyone was friendly (including other skaters) But I was disappointed that 2 staff members that I spoke with didn't seem to know anything about the facility, when I asked do they have monthly passes, how big is the rink, how many times around is a mile...I just kept hearing "I don't know" and I know I seem like a Karen, but just like I told the lady at the window (she was one of the two people) it's sad that they know nothing about the place they work. I guess I'm just different. And I guess I can look it up too. Again, It's nice facility, and everyone we met and talked to were friendly. read more
