Came here for the first time with my job as a Memorial Day celebration. The staff was cool and very minimal and they just stayed to themselves. Neither bad or good, maybe they weren't morning people. Crofton Go Kart is the perfect unplanned activity to do in the area. Even though the lines look extremely long the process was extremely quick to get on the track and ride. The track is setup as Drivers race Formula 1-style go-karts around a half-mile asphalt track with 27 turns. Please eat before going because this place doesn't offer a concession stand for food. Fun place for the family but I was worried when I saw a police car there. Not sure if that's a thing or a random coincidence. No crowd issues while we were there. Crofton Go Kart Raceway is an excellent go cart spot! The staff is friendly and the price for laps is reasonable. Hours of operation is good for early birds and night owls. We went close to opening on a Saturday and the place was already popping. There were a handful of families already on the track. We walked up to the ticket counter and paid for the tickets per lap; then headed to the line to get on the track. The attendant asked if it was our first time (it was) and explained the rules and how to operate the go cart. Within a few minutes we were on our way. The track itself is awesome. The pattern of turns is a good feel of a realistic race track. The go carts were pretty fast. There were a variety of age groups on the track that ranged from I'd say 8 to 40. You hand the attendant a ticket as you finish and continue a lap. There's a handy dandy ticket pocket on the steering wheel of the go cart. This makes it's easy to grab, hand off and drive off. There are vending machines with snacks and drinks. To the side of the track you'll find tables and chairs under pavilions for your spectators (family and friends) to watch you. I've been going here for years off and on. This is great for family fun or for a couple date nights. Since we are in a pandemic, let me start with Covid precautions. - Masks are required of course as they are almost everywhere in MD. - They have stickers in line to enforce social distancing in places where you may stand close to others. - Hand sanitizers after exiting kart available. - Staff cleans the race karts between customer use. We have been coming here during the pandemic and have felt completely comfortable each time. It is super fun social distancing activity outside. Now the cool stuff- Go-Karts. Honestly, aside from Autobahn, to me this the best Go-Kart place around. Kids must be 3 to ride in double karts which has an extra wheel for the passenger to feel included. Any young race car fans will experience bliss with this experience. The karts are faster then a riding lawn mower and the course is a pretty good size when compared to others in the area. The single karts go slightly faster then the doubles, but I'm sure that is likely since they are bigger and carrying more weight. Must be at least 8 years old to ride single. The cost is reasonable to me when compared to similar go-karting places. We usually do the mini kart package 10- singles and 10- doubles for $65. Highly recommend. read more

This is a great activity to try during quarantine! I called to ask about their social distancing measures and was impressed on arrival. All staff wear masks and there are marks on the ground for groups to distance while buying tickets. Everyone wore masks while in line and getting in our cars, but some took them off while actually riding. All workers were nice and attentive. I also used the restroom which was clean and was stocked. My group arrived right when it opened at 10am so it wasn't too packed. We bought 5 laps and had a great time! I imagine when there's more people it may be less fun w/ less room on the track but there were less than 15 other cars, I recommend going early if possible. Our 5 laps took maybe 15-20 mins. You pay per lap. We could've maybe done a few more but were overall satisfied. If you're looking for a fun, outdoor, safe activity, this is a great one! We'll be back!! read more

Caveat--we did not have a great initial experience this season. We usually come with our family because it's kid friendly and they don't serve liquor. Well we came, called three times and they said they were open. We showed up, gates were locked and the staff was inside. They didn't even say that they were closed. Straight walked past us in the parking lot. Disrespectful. Glad we waited around and the owner came. We told her our experience and she apologized to us and comped some tickets for us the next day. We came the following day and had a great time. Not surprisingly the rude staff was no where to be found. Fun well organized raceway! I've been to others and they never equal this track. I like the flow of the exit lanes vs the lap lanes. Courteous and helpful employees always, ensure you're belted in properly and assist us old folks exiting the kart, when necessary. So impressed with this place! My 8 year old had so much fun...and my husband and I did too! There were young guys there working and they were friendly and efficient and working hard. We stopped by on Saturday afternoon and it was not too busy but they ran the place well. It was $3 per lap around the track and you decide how many you want to buy before you start heading around the track. They do not expire so if you buy a lot and then get tired of going around you can save them for your next visit. We bought five tickets each for my husband, son and me. I ended up giving two of my tickets to my son so that he could have a couple extra laps since he was enjoying it so much. I've driven past this place on 301 S for years and have never stopped. We were in the area and just randomly it dawned on my that this would be something our son might enjoy. I'm so glad we went! It was his first experience driving anything and he was a natural! We will definitely be back! There was a little area with picnic tables and there was actually a birthday party going on there at the time. Such an awesome place to have a great time! The course is the perfect size and the karts go pretty fast. Every time I have gone my friends and I have had a blast. The staff is very friendly and helpful along with keeping the place clean. Along with that, the staff keeps your safety a priority and will watch the track. Some of my teammates and myself went for an hour and it was perfect, Marcus continued to check in on us and made sure the night went perfect. They also have a large picnic area for groups to hangout, eat, and watch the track. I highly recommend this place! read more

Attended a 12 yrs old B-Day party. Now I had enjoyed this track many time as a teen and young adult many years ago. They have changed how the track operates. It use to be by time. Each heat started at the same time and it was a race! You had time to pass people get passed. You would find the the fast cart and see if you could move up to the top spot before the time was up. An actual race. Now you pay per lap and you must come in the pit after each lap. They don't even track your time so you don't know it if you were the fastest. I've been to a few tracks and this is the best one. I like the way it has little dips and the sidewinding curves that let you be in control of your path. It really tests your skills. Not a bad length of road for each lap. Wish they'd expand it. Very affordable and fun for all ages. And believe me, all ages are out there too. They have picnic tables for groups and party too. I'd think they'd pull in a little more business if they'd give a small discount for proof of attending Six Flags. That would generate some income for them to or from the park that drives right pass them just from word of mouth alone. The one thing I didn't like was the unisex bathroom. Yikes! No doubt you're gonna have to make a pit stop yourself and the bathroom has always been the filthiest one I constantly encounter on Planet Earth. I went here on 3/23/2013 which was my sons 18th birthday. After we had a bite to eat in Baltimore we decided to go have a little fun. So, here is where everyone agreed. I have to say that I was pretty impressed. The track I normally go to is pretty small and when I first saw this track I was shocked. I thought that the track would be a little more slippery than it was but, it was just enough to have fun. It was not as crowded as I thought it would be but, they did have a nice crowd of all ages. A great opportunity to get all that "Ricky Bobby" outta ya system minus the moving violations. Came here on a Saturday afternoon to experience the go carts. Smaller track than some I've experienced before but the kids seem to love it. It allows for a few competitive laps and bleachers to view from. They do have a few tables and benches that make for a good set up for kiddie parties. I did see an snow cone truck parked on the premises and it's an easy money maker in hot weather. They have yearly hours and if you don't mind putting on your snowpants then they don't mind taking your money. They do offer military discounts on tickets, they can book a block of time for private parties/team building events and such. Plan ahead for younger patrons and the height/age requirements to drive. Wear comfortable clothes and put the kiddies in something you don't mind them dirtying up....they're kids....they're supposed to get dirty and have fun. When leaving, be mindful that there is only one way in and one way out. Parking challenges will depend on peak periods. read more

Good place to take the kids once in a while. I'd say probably 10 to 14 year olds. You will see adults too take a ride but it wasn't all that. The price is super cheap per lap which is good, $3. Be prepared to smell like gasoline afterwards. The course doesn't really lend itself to racing others because of their setup and how the line forms for people to ride. Maybe if there was less people it may work. There's nothing else to do here for younger kids while you wait for the older kids but this is what it's really for, just the 1/2 mile ride around the track. read more

It's hard to fairly review a go-kart track when you have a drivers license. My judgment is also clouded by the fact that I took the Beltway to get there. It's hard to say "these cars are fast" when I had to do Warp 6 in a real car just to keep up with the flow of traffic. But, if I look at this through the eyes of "Brain Gremlin" (my five year old daughter) then I can say that this place is pretty cool. Pros: Huge track. There are a lot of winds and turns that help make the track feel a lot longer than it actually is. They definitely add to the "race" feel of it. The double cars are surprisingly fast. We were able to hold our own against the single-rider cars. My passenger spent the whole time pretending to throw banana peels and other Mario Kart weapons at the other cars. Wait time wasn't long despite all of the people. Cons: They charge $3 per lap. The one on Kenilworth Ave has a much smaller track (at least half as small), but you get six laps for $6. If this one is 1/2 mile and Kenilworth is 1/4 mile, then you come out better at Kenilworth. Also, pulling into queue every lap to hand someone a ticket kills the "race" vibe. In theory, you'd just pull in to the "keep going" lane in the order that you finished and then pull out to continue racing. The problem is that people don't have their tickets ready sometime and you end up with huge, insurmountable gaps between cars. There were a few times where person number one was a third of the way through the track by the time person two found his ticket. Not really a race in that situation. There's nothing else on site besides the track, so we took a break and went to Pizza Hut across the street. After that, we had some ice cream at Baskin Robbins and then came back to use the last of our tickets. read more
