Good but basic coffee and matcha…read more Came here on the hunt for coffee spots. Generally don't like going into Hartford, but figured it was early enough to avoid the major crowds and traffic. When I first got here, the barista was not ready to take orders yet, so I sat down while they prepped for the day. After about 15 minutes they were ready, so I ordered a basic latte and sat back down. The coffee bar has no food and only coffee and matcha drinks, relying on other businesses to fill that gap when they don't offer food at the primary location. The hours on Saturday don't match up with the other local businesses, so it leads to the ability to get coffee but not food till at least an hours time from open. The latte was basic, coffee is of a decent quality and the milk was frothy. No real design work beyond a basic onion off-center. They had one special latte, a pb&j inspired iced latte. Opted against, since they were still prepping for those orders when I went to order. It's functional coffee for the area. Not bad but not special either. It's a place to get a cup of joe on Pratt street, and it's good coffee but nothing to call home about.

You most certainly need not take it though and take a step the other way into Refugee Tattoos side. I got myself a double espresso with a pump of vanilla. I think I could've done without since it wasn't sweet. I want to visit again and have it one more time! The barista was lovely and she didn't rush me at all as I made my choice. She also made great recommendations. It was nice and quiet in the studio though that's not to say they didn't have any other clients beyond the curtain. Everyone was friendly.

Everything came out quick and tasted great! The sandwich (chorizo) has just a little kick to it and paired nice with my strawberry chocolate iced latte There is seating, but it's fairly small. A quiet and quaint little spot with a chess board and some cool art work. We asked if they were dog friendly, they said "well behaved dogs", but we only stayed a while as this place became packed pretty quick.

The vibe and atmosphere here is great for meetings, business or casual. My associate and I split a Siphon Pot to start. If you have the time, this is the very best way to enjoy your coffee. It really pulls the flavor out of the beans, on par with a pour over or aeropress, but it's also perfect for sharing. Afterwards, we both got Cortados, which were excellent, and I brought ice coffee back to the office for the man we left behind to run things. He sighed happily after sipping it, commenting that he could tell it was from J René. Why not 5 stars? The food is ok but I'm not a big fan of the pastries I've tried here. They're "fine". Normally my wife will get one and I'll try a bite or two. She's really into croissants and won't get them from here, saying they're a waste of money. The prices can feel a little steep here, especially compared to other good, local spots. Lastly, the parking lot is so tiny and during busy times of day the road can get crowded as well.

Staff did apologize and thank me for my patience after all was said and done.

The French toast was slightly undercooked, but I do enjoy custardity bites so it was good enough. The eggs were also underdone, but I just ignored those. The turkey bacon was crisp and the home fries were seasoned very well. Unlike other home fries I have had, these ones actually had flavor. As a breakfast spot, it does well enough for the local crowd. When done properly, the food put out at this location can be good if not great. I'm fairly confident if I made them aware of my issues, they would resolve them without fail. If you need a quick breakfast and happen to be in east hartford near the police station, his place works for that quick meal. It isn't fancy, but it's basic food done right.

I am a DoorDash driver, and this was one of the most disrespectful experiences I've had while…read morepicking up an order. When I arrived, the order was not ready and was still being prepared. Since I knew I would be waiting, I politely asked if I could use the restroom. I was told no. I initially assumed there had been a misunderstanding, so I explained that I wasn't a random passerby looking for a public restroom. I was there to pick up an active DoorDash order and would be waiting while they finished preparing it. Unlike employees who have a workplace with designated break areas and restroom access, delivery drivers spend their entire workday on the road. We don't have a home base to return to between orders. Because of that, we often rely on the basic courtesy of restaurants and businesses we partner with while conducting pickups and deliveries. Most businesses understand this and treat drivers respectfully. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. What happened next was what bothered me most. Rather than simply explaining their policy and treating me with basic courtesy, the employees largely stopped engaging with me altogether. They avoided eye contact, ignored my attempts to communicate, and acted as though I wasn't standing there. It was an incredibly dehumanizing experience. After waiting several more minutes, I said, "I could have been done by now." The only response I received was, "It's not for the public." I again explained that I was there for an active pickup and was waiting on an order that still wasn't ready. Once again, I was met with silence. To be clear, I completely understand that businesses located on busy commercial streets cannot allow every random person who walks in off the street to use their restroom. That's not what this situation was. I was there performing a service directly connected to their business. DoorDash drivers are part of the fulfillment process that allows restaurants to participate in DoorDash, reach additional customers, and generate revenue from delivery orders. I wasn't asking for special treatment--just the basic courtesy of using the restroom while waiting on an order that they were still preparing. What makes this even more frustrating is that if the order had been ready when I arrived, I would have already been gone. The only reason I was standing there waiting was because of the restaurant's delay. At that point, I decided to unassign myself from the order, even though it was a high-paying delivery. If a business is unwilling to show basic respect to the drivers helping deliver its orders, then it can find someone else to complete those deliveries. I will also be reporting this experience to DoorDash so they are aware of how drivers are being treated at this location. To fellow Dashers: I strongly encourage you to decline orders from this establishment and spend your time supporting businesses that treat delivery drivers with professionalism and basic human dignity. To potential customers: please consider whether this is the kind of business you want to support. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, including the people helping get your food to your door.

Even though they've since closed their first location, they still serve one of the best meals I could ever want. They had expanded into 257 Asylum Street, still connected to their business in Ann Uccello where they have always operated the kitchen. You might be able to see the chef in action through the glass window. I've been told that this expanded section used to be a salon. The cool light fixtures used to be above where the pedicure station was and also another reason there is a sink on the main floor. This is not quite a wait-on-you type of restaurant. You place an order through the kiosks on the wall and service staff will provide it to you when it's ready. It would be the same thing if you'd like any additions, in exception to condiments which are on the table. There is a water dispenser available for self service and a sink is nearby to wash your hands, as well as where you can place your dishes when finished similar to cafes. My go-to is always their Dry Noodle. The Daikon Bowl is probably my second favorite. I usually look out for their specials. It's too bad they do not offer the same item too often. It's simply too good! They also serve delicious refreshments that I forget to take photos of! Till next time!

Both were delicious, fresh and full of flavor. Skip the curly fries. Glad we got two different choices and split the orders. The room is cafeteria chic. I chose chicken for my protein and sweet water mixed greens, red onions, pico da galore and garlic aioli. This wrap was delicious. We paid our $5.84 and waited for the order to be assembled. After a few minutes, a manager approached us to say they couldn't make the avocado toast because they had run out of bread. Now... since you can't really make an Avocado Toast, Peanut Butter Banana Toast, or Hummus Toast without toast, and you can't really make toast without bread, we understood why they couldn't give us the order we had already paid for. But they made things right by offering us something else, so we opted for a chicken quesadilla which we received for no additional charge. The quesadilla was good with a nice mix of chicken and cheese. IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES Obviously, inventory management comes to mind, and if they run out of bread, that information should be conveyed to the entire staff so everyone is on the same page about what is and is not available, what can and cannot be made, and what should and should not be paid for.

I take a quick look at the displays, and I see the herbalife products. To the unintiated, herbalife shops are pretty much these MLM shops. Kinda like lularoe. they use social media to attempt to appear trendy while trying to encourage repeat business while harvesting as much info as they can from you. I don't really care too much about that, I care about the end product and how things taste. After being to a few of these shops, I can say that I'm not really a fan of their proteins. I feel that they use a little too much thickener and are a little gritty. the flavors are muted and they always try to justify the price of the shake by giving you a detox + energy tea to go with it. Their shakes pretty much taste like what I would expect a protein shake to taste like, if I didn't know how to make one myself. The biggest difference between these shops is how they are operated. This place is operated pretty well. The owner was very kind and inquisitive, though they could be a little pushy. This specific location actually has lots of extra items like protein balls and cookies. They also got very decorative with their shakes, layering shake and mix-ins and topping with pictures of shakes to help you make your decisions. I got a shake, a tea for the girlfriend, some protein balls, and because it was customer appreciation day I got a balloon, a valentine protein ball, and a gift certificate. I did enjoy the protein balls, they had a strong peanut butter flavor and a good texture. The protein shake was okay, was this apple pie shake with layers of granola, apple, caramel, and a little apple pie piece on top. The tea had a little bit too much of their fruit punch flavoring, but it was drunk. The difference between this herbalife shop and others is the staff and the hustle, and this place is trying very hard to be just that little bit better than it's competition. I respect this place for trying as hard as they do, but it is not the greatest of shakes. If you want a herbalife protein shake, give this place a try.

The tea is good but I think our's might have been mislabeled. Overall, it is good if you're close by and have $30 to spend on two shakes and a tea. The best part is the owner who has a great story on how she went through a weight loss journey and is fun to speak to. I might be back but not sure on that since you can get similar shakes at many other places or at your gym. The highlight was the owner, she was worth the trip not the shakes.
