Severe chemical damage to my daughter's hair--zero accountability…read more My daughter went to Mavida Salon 93 South Main St. Lodi New Jersey July 6,2026 at 11am for hair color and FULL head of highlights. She booked the appointment with THE OWNER of the salon Cheryl whom i personally spoke with on the phone the night before. She assured me that she would be the one taking my daughter as a client and she did! She also said it's CASH ONLY. My daughter has shoulder length hair, the COLOR price was $50.00, FULL HIGHLIGHTS $150.00 the total was $200.00 with a 20% tip of $40.00. Making the Total of this appointment $240.00 that my daughter paid cash to Cheryl at the end of this incomplete service. Cheryl did not blow dry her hair, she was to busy (obviously overbooked) so my daughter left the salon with wet hair. Cheryl obviously knowing the damage that was done when she had her at the sink as she was shampooing the chemicals and taking the foils out of her hair. Unfortunately, the service resulted in severe chemical breakage, uneven color tone, and very sloppy and unprofessional partial highlights (we booked FULL highlights) and severe irritation on her scalp. Her hair is now extremely brittle and breaking due to the over, processing time by being left UNDER THE DRYER with the bleach and color chemicals on her scalp and hair as she worked on other clients. My daughter continuously asking Cheryl to check her color and highlights and Cheryl kept telling her she's not done yet without even checking a foil. The other workers and clients were observing what was going on, they witnessed the intentional act but said nothing. However, they did make eye gestures to my daughter as if they couldn't understand why Cheryl was not checking her hair. My daughter had chemicals on her head from 11:45 AM until 2 PM. When I called the owner Cheryl to discuss what happened that evening she was dismissive and refused to acknowledge HER error. We trusted this business with my daughter's hair, and instead, it was completely destroyed. A professional salon should know how to safely manage HAIR health. The lack of skill and care shown by the owner herself is completely unacceptable. This was supposed to be a pleasant day for my daughter as a gift from me to her, and it turned out to be a disaster and a very bad experience.

Literally told me she had the time to focus on me if I wanted it shorter to get rid of more of the color and shouldn't feel rushed . I am so happy with my haircut. This is the first time ever that I didn't go home and wash my hair and do it myself. My husband says I look like a different person. Thank you so much!!! I've been going to this salon for years and have always had great experiences and service. Lately, I have been traveling quite a bit and haven't gone in about a year. During this time, my go to stylist, Allison, had left the salon. Because of this I was reluctant as I wasn't informed she was leaving and I wasn't sure who I'd trust at this point to style my hair. I wasn't assured the brand new stylist they have would be a good fit because she was the same level as Allison. Upon my arrival, I was excited to visit the salon once again and begin treating my hair with them. A very strange looking lady approached me and introduced herself as the stylist that would attend to me. I was extremely reluctant to go with her and trust she would know how to take care of my needs for my hair. I asked for a TRIM, conditioner, and blow out. This lady kept cutting my hair and cutting and cutting. I had long bangs that outgrew and I was okay with that, but she said she would clean it up. She CHOPPED the bangs off so much. They were about two inches above my eyebrows. Picture that for a second. So now, my hair was down to my back and now is chopped off to my shoulders and my bangs are completely ridiculous. When I stopped her from continuing cut, she grabbed a mirror and showed me the back of my hair. It was completely uneven; completely. So she began to fix it and continue cutting. She then whacked me on my eyebrow with the brush and she absolutely did not know how to properly part my hair as a professional stylist and blow dry my hair. She seemed like it was her first time blow drying. I have to question if she is a licensed stylist just by the entire experience. I approached the owner who took me to the back and evened the hair out and tried to blow try my hair to attempt to fix it. He asked if I gave her a photo of what I wanted and I said no because it was supposed to simply be a trim. No more than an inch and a half at most. I looked at how horrible my hair was at this point and kept saying, "I can't believe this." No discount and I paid ladies. That is the last money they will ever see from me. I will never return and I have spread the word. This is unacceptable, especially after I heard the owner and the manager talking badly about me as if I had no reason to be upset. This experience was traumatic and now I'm dealing with people asking me, "what happened to your hair?" It's nothing I can do and I have to just wait until my hair grows out a little. But the bangs? There's nothing I can do to even move it away or hide it. This is the WORST haircut I've ever received and I hope all reading this caution before coming here for a trim. Especially since there are other clients that have complained about bad haircuts here.

All white, beautiful mirrors everywhere, and I couldn't stop staring at the beautiful chandelier. Its a gorgeous space! The woman who did my hair was named Carrie, and she was so sweet.
