I want to leave this review for the company, not the salon staff. The employees at the salon were…read moreprofessional and did their best, but my experience with the company's customer service and policies was very disappointing. I had my hair colored at Madison Reed, and when I checked out, I agreed to sign up for a membership. The very next day, I decided it wasn't worth the cost and canceled it. Even though I canceled in June, I was still charged in July, and I was told I would be charged again in August because of a "billing cycle." I don't understand why I'm being charged after canceling, and the explanation I received wasn't clear. The salon service was fine, but I'm very disappointed with how the membership cancellation has been handled. Customers deserve clear information about when their cancellation takes effect and whether any additional charges will apply. I hope Madison Reed improves its communication and billing practices.

What could've been a lovely day was completely and utterly ruined. I had an appointment for my hair…read moreand a manicure and pedicure and from the moment I walked in there was utter confusion. I got there a little early to get myself settled in and I was greeted and advised to get seated for my hair treatments. The manicure and pedicure however were a total nightmare. No one seemed to be available and they asked if I can come back at 5 o'clock or the following day - I said absolutely not - either we had someone available I will just leave and call it a day. The woman who did my hair then convinced me that another lady available was able to give me a beautiful pedicure. However that was a complete lie. As pleasant as that woman was she had no idea how to give a pedicure and I declined the manicure because the inept pedicure took 2 hours!! The woman also completely cut two of my toenails way too deep resulting in a really uneven, horrible look that even my seven year old son said me and my feet look funny. But that's not the worst thing that happened. The woman who did my hair calculated the total amount and I gave her the money with that amount however I asked for the individual amounts and then she gave me a different total. When she brought my change back she calculated it based off of what she told me was the revised amount but I had paid based off of the original amount that she told me. She said that that didn't happen and proceeded to tell me that I had not given her the amount I did. What a completely disappointing and horrible experience. I would have been willing to overlook the bad pedicure as well as the miscalculated amounts and totals however telling me that I didn't pay the money that I know I gave is absolutely insane. She was clearly trying to keep my change as a tip while I had asked for change for another bill to do exactly that. Please avoid this place. I left in tears.

Though I did like my haircut, it wasn't good enough to go back. The interior is beautiful and I was greeted kindly and offered tea. I did drink some of the tea once it finally cooled but the rest of the experience was not so relaxing and I ended up leaving with half my cup still full. Because we had to diffuse my hair, I ended up spending a lot of time uncomfortably draping my body low on the chair, as told to do by my stylist. I wish they had a recliner or a better way to diffuse my hair - it was incredibly uncomfortable. For such a high end salon, I feel like there needs to be a better way! Vibe seems very cold and I did not feel good upon leaving. I was sold up on some curl shampoo, conditioner, and post shower leave in - and felt I couldn't refuse. I started to take a photo of the label so I could buy it separately later, and the stylist said "Well where else are you going to buy it? No one else carries it". I bought them since she had talked them up the whole appointment and the pressure was high. Turns out they haven't worked very well for me, despite being told I needed to use something better to get rid of all the "buildup" I had on my hair from my other shampoo/conditioner. I followed every instruction given by my stylist but using LESS product actually has been the best thing I could do. She gave me a hug when I was leaving - trying to mend the blow of a $250+ purchase I guess. I also was pushed to make a maintenance appointment for 3 months later, which would be about now. I declined. I wanted to see how my hair grew in - since I don't get my hair cut very often. Unfortunately I don't feel comfortable coming back, it was much too expensive for the experience I had. TLDR: posh, pushy, and expensive About $160 for curly wash and cut, diffused $35 x 3 products, $265 total Not for me!
