Donny was hired to tile 2 walk in showers and 1 bathtub/shower combo in a new construction custom home. He built two shower floors and started tiling 2 showers (maybe 1/4 of the showers). He had many sliver cuts (24" tile cut down to 1") and the layout was totally off. Our phone call only lasted 2 min. We simply said "hey, there are a couple of tiles that were cut too small. Wondering if we could talk about how to change those. " His response was simple, "I don't want to do this job anymore. I can't please you". Um....we never spoke with him about the job prior. Super strange response. So our builder hired a different crew. Turns out the whole shower pan, in both showers, had to be rebuilt as they were not done right. All three showers had to be re-sealed because it was done wrong - essentially I would have leaks on my first shower. Thank God he quit. I would have ended up with leaking showers and moldy walls!! When we went to pick up the replacement tile we found out he only paid for $10,000 of materials when our builder gave him $12,000. He stole $2,000!!! Luckily, the builder called him and he quickly admitted and paid with credit card. Also, he added $300 of tile to my job that wasn't even my tile. He said he would take it off my invoice, but so far hasn't. Seemed like a really nice person. I have no idea what went wrong or why he suddenly behaved this way. He owes my builder a couple of thousand for replacement tile and currently is refusing to pay him. Please stay away from this guy. Very, very strange. Not safe. We are so busy we haven't reported him yet. But believe me, we will. read more
