It was an AMAZING event. Carters staff worked diligently with the prison staff to make it happen. They also have special events (including an upcoming event with Santa and elves). Stepping into a cozy little space full of soft noses, curious hops, and cuddle-ready fluffballs was pure therapy. I love bunnies, and Layla's Bunnyville gives you your own little enclosure where you can pet, feed, and play with the sweetest, gentlest bunnies (I observed them while waiting, and they're great with kids). The staff is wonderful (Layla's super-super-sweet), they clearly love their bunnies, and take great care of them. I went on my own, and the staff was really kind to take some photos for me. You can pick up the rabbits and put them on your lap if you do so safely (while you're seated). They also provide towels to protect your jeans from being nibbled into "distressed denim." Anyhow, instant mood boost - it turns out, happiness has long ears and a twitchy nose!

I visited this KTR location using my GetOutPass, and after recently visiting the newer Mesa…read morelocation, the difference was pretty noticeable. The Mesa location has a lot more gym equipment, obstacles, and activities for younger kids, while this location feels much more like an open warehouse space with fewer things for little ones to do. The skate area is definitely larger here, but overall there wasn't as much to keep my 7- and 9-year-olds entertained. There were also a lot more older teens here, which made me uncomfortable letting my kids explore on their own. Even the 6-and-under area had bigger kids playing in it, and the main wheel zone was filled with older boys riding around pretty aggressively and balls just being thrown in different directions. The biggest disappointment was the cleanliness. We needed to use the restrooms as soon as we arrived, and they were very dirty--toilet paper was all over the floor and multiple toilets hadn't been flushed. The facility also felt worn down, and some of the equipment looked like it could use better maintenance. I'm glad I was able to visit using my GetOutPass, but I don't think I would pay admission to this location. I really wish the GetOutPass included the newer Mesa location instead, as it's a much better experience for younger kids. The teens all working at the place also are too busy talking and mingling with each other...

The center offers educational programs, activities for all ages, opportunities to learn about green living, they offer a seed library where you can pick up three packets per month, and check out their different exhibits. The center is clean, open, well taken care of and offers the Owl's Nest Nature store. The store offers postcards, soaps, clothing, glassware, pet accessories, non-perishable food items, books and more. You can purchase items and pay with Visa, MC, American Express and cash. The staff are very helpful and I had the opportunity to speak to the one the staff- Derek. They were super pleasant and helpful in explaining what the center offers. I was informed the Native Plant Oasis volunteering occurs every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 9am-12pm, and you are able to drop in. You can help with the maintenance, display garden beds, native seed harvesting beds, and a learn about native plants. I think this is an amazing opportunity to be a part of.
