Super impressed with this new Springfield spot from the AYCE options to the quick & friendly service. We have friends who live nearby so we made the little trek up on a Tuesday evening to grab dinner with them. The restaurant wasn't busy at all and we practically had the place to ourselves. The AYCE options expand from the kitchen to the freshly made sushi and we ordered a bit of everything. I really enjoyed their Crab Rangoons and the Gyoza from the kitchen side! We must have tried each of their special rolls and I think my favorites were the Shaggy Dog, Surf & Turf, Kiss of Fire and Spicy Lady (can you tell we like spicy rolls?) I was a bit bummed they didn't have any rolls with mango or a classic Godzilla roll (spicy tuna w/ avocado) but their options were all quite good and very unique! The service was the fastest we've received at an AYCE - this was a huge plus. Maybe it was because it was a Tuesday, but was a happy surprise nonetheless! $30pp is not a bad price for dinner AYCE and they even serve cocktails! We will definitely be back! PS: bring back the tempura bananas for dessert!

Impeccable interior, high-quality sushi, amazing service. This place is put together with such attention to both quality and detail. The sweet potato rolls here are incredible! The perfect consistency, and they are very well-made! I almost didn't take their picture because they were just too delicious and I was too busy enjoying it. The seaweed salad is also amazing. You have to go here!!! Did I mention that the miso soup is also great?

This is such a great value for great food! Pay one flat fee to have unlimited acess to sushi, sashimi, hibachi and more! Service and ambiance are both very pleasant for sure, but the highlight is definitely the delicious cuisine!

I went for the soft opening on Saturday at lunch. Pricing wise - it's Dinner prices on the weekend so $29.99, during the week at lunch it's only $19.99. Currently 10% for soft opening through the end of the month Menu is slightly smaller at lunch time. For their soft opening, having only been open less than 2 hours by the time we arrived, it was a great experience! The menu is vast, much bigger than all other AYCE sushi places we've been to in CT. There is a good selection of salads/soups, appetizers, sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, maki rolls, and specialty sushi rolls, plus they have some stir fry items as well - fried rice, hibachi and even some robata items. Considering it's ordering and not a traditional buffet, service is decent, maybe 10-15 for our first sushi order - we've been to other restaurants where it takes 30-40 minutes for our first order. This was not the case - again still soft opening so going through some growing pains but overall they were so nice and accommodating! Service will only get better with time as they find their groove. As for the food - I can't even tell you how good and fresh everything was. The quality of fish is top notch, the amount of fish to rice ratio is pretty amazing too. The appetizers and fried rice/hibachi we had were all piping hot and very tasty! We didn't have anything we didn't love and we absolutely will be back (probably as early as this weekend lol). So glad to have a high quality fresh AYCE sushi restaurant closer to us in Northern CT. We only took a couple of pictures, we got too excited to dig in - so we will take more pics next time!

Such a great new spot located in the Springfield area. For one set price you can enjoy all you can eat sushi, sashimi, hibachi, and traditional Japanese appetizers. Come hungry and with friends, ask for the sushi boat, it's stunning and will make any dinning experience magical. Here's everything my sister and I got to try Gyoza Coconut shrimp Crab Rangoons Spicy kani salad Shrimp Udon noodles Cucumber roll Avocado roll Sweet potato roll Volcano roll Shaggy dog roll Surf n turf roll Orange dragon roll There's an area in the back where you can go and watch the sushi being made which is really cool. Staff was more than helpful with selection and recommendations.

Great experience. Kind and attentive servers. Food was delicious and everything was fresh. You can also have unlimited appetizers, rice/noodles, desserts and hibachi. Booths are comfortable and semi-private which was nice. Will definitely come here again. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp, Tiger eye roll and the Haya roll. The tempura banana dessert was my favorite!

Clean, lively, friendly and well lit. The appetizers were fresh and hot. The sushi was spot on. Flavorful and well made. Staff were attentive and responsive. We'll be back when the urge hits again.

The food was very fresh and delicious, I jus wish there were more portions to the fresh fish they gave us. The service was fast and kind and lastly I was a very big fan of the ambiance, to me the room felt lively and I like the set up of booths.

When we walked in, there wasn't anyone at the front, just a counter and a small table with T-shirts for sale. The kitchen is in the back, and the dining area is off to the left. A friendly waitress came out right away and told us to sit wherever we'd like. The dining room is small, but cozy; about 10 tables. There's also bar-style seating at sushi counter with about 5 chairs. Two sushi chefs were working and chatting with customers. Everyone was super nice, and the vibe was great; hip-hop, R&B, and reggaeton playing in the background. Right up my alley lol. Our waitress was very sweet, attentive, and gave us great recommendations. I ordered the Caribbean roll, and it was phenomenal! Definitely one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. It had a sweet plantain on top and was packed with flavor. I also got a vegetable roll, which was just okay. The place had a chill mix of customers: a family, & some older couples. Overall, great service, good music, and amazing specialty rolls. It's also BYOB (wine and beer only) which is nice. I'll definitely be back to try the ramen next time!

Take note of date stamps on the photos here in Yelp. The sushi, sashimi, omakase from 4 yrs ago looks GOOD. (I'm assuming that's where the high rating came from.) That is not what is being served currently at BarKaya.] If your neighborhood dive bar (I LOVE a neighborhood dive bar!! Bar. ) with amazing vibes, got a super cool, gorgeous resin bar and really nice upholstered furniture with beautiful colors and big, fabulous, flat screen TVs showing amazing Japanese food shows and served the worst sushi you have ever had. That's BarKaya. No. Really. I kinda wanted to award a third star for general vibe and the fact that I met and talked to some super cool people during my visit. Call it "star inflation." But! BarKaya is, after all, putting itself forth as a restaurant and at restaurants we eat food and BarKaya deserves zero stars for food. I'm pretty sure the sushi here was the worst sushi I have ever eaten in my life. (And I've eaten supermarket sushi in at least 4 states...including VERMONT!! My Friends ...supermarket sushi is the absolute bottom of the Sushi Barrel...so keep that in mind as you read this review.). As in I am worried about having put fish that was clearly dyed/colored/God only knows what, into my body. As in when I ate the first piece of California Roll (CALIFORNIA ROLL!!) I got a whiff of something having gone "off".... As in the "torched fatty tuna belly" was completely unrecognizable as fish (please see attached photos...Yikes!). Y'all. When they put my pieces of sushi in front of me I had to make the conscious decision to eat that mess. As in I took one for the team because I was going to write a review, so I figured I needed to eat it and I also thought I probably wouldn't die (although I did think there was a strong possibility I would be sick after...and yes, this stuff did not "agree with me"...). These people need to be STOPPED from serving "sushi." It is an actual crime (and a travesty). Just. Terrible. On every level. Including the rice, which was not actually sushi rice (FYI: sushi rice is not just the rice, it is the process). I could go on. But should I? They've got this entire, beautiful bar set up. Including a glass topped sushi bar. Lovely. My suggestion is to stop serving any sort of fish. Immediately. Or...stick solely to deep fried seafood for your so-called "sushi." Tempura it all and then turn it into sushi. But please, for the love of all that is holy: NO MORE RAW FISH. They also make Ramen. I did not have Ramen. Perhaps the Ramen is edible. I have my doubts. But! Should I return (for vibes and chit chat - never underestimate those things!!) I will be trying Ramen. What I had: Cucumber Salad. Which was the best thing I ate. And, since I ate it first, it led to me to have falsely inflated expectations. It was fine. Neither flavorful nor spicy. Seaweed Salad. Just a big bowl of premade/bought Seaweed Salad. You too can buy it at the grocery store. Shrug. Miso Soup. Very large bowl. Which is nice. Not good Miso. They're not using a base (like Dashi or fish stock) and they're using too much Miso (how do I know? I've made Miso myself and done the same darn thing at home...many times). An assortment of terrible, awful, barely edible pieces of sushi: Ikura, Tobiko, Salmon Belly, Torched Fatty Tuna (that looked exactly like some sort of really inexpensive cut of beef that was then overcooked). A California Roll. Because who screws up a California Roll?? BarKaya. That's who... And an Unagi Roll. Because, again, it is nearly impossible to mess up Eel. BarKaya proves it's not entirely impossible. Because even the Eel Sauce was not good. I mean you can just BUY Eel Sauce and get some delicious stuff. These people need to be stopped. I drank their one Sake. It was fine. It probably saved my life. Always drink plenty of alcohol when you are also eating questionable/sketchy things that could potentially kill you. My theory is the alcohol will fight the toxins!! Mr Business Manager who replied below in a particularly unhinged fashion (he appears to have retracted the vast majority of his tirade - just as well, it was borderline "restraining order" stuff. YIKES!): Sir. Please take a few moments to glance at the other sushi spots I have reviewed. I know whereof I speak. Pro Tip: RESIST the urge to attack reviews online. It's a bad look. As is the sushi your establishment serves. I spent well over $100 at BarKaya. Because I tried as many things possible before drawing any conclusions Try Harder. Do. Better. You've set the bar incredibly low. Shouldn't be difficult...
