Super impressed with this new Springfield spot from the AYCE options to the quick & friendly service. We have friends who live nearby so we made the little trek up on a Tuesday evening to grab dinner with them. The restaurant wasn't busy at all and we practically had the place to ourselves. The AYCE options expand from the kitchen to the freshly made sushi and we ordered a bit of everything. I really enjoyed their Crab Rangoons and the Gyoza from the kitchen side! We must have tried each of their special rolls and I think my favorites were the Shaggy Dog, Surf & Turf, Kiss of Fire and Spicy Lady (can you tell we like spicy rolls?) I was a bit bummed they didn't have any rolls with mango or a classic Godzilla roll (spicy tuna w/ avocado) but their options were all quite good and very unique! The service was the fastest we've received at an AYCE - this was a huge plus. Maybe it was because it was a Tuesday, but was a happy surprise nonetheless! $30pp is not a bad price for dinner AYCE and they even serve cocktails! We will definitely be back! Yikes, this place is expensive! Expect to pay premium prices for what tastes like supermarket sushi, plus an automatic 18% surcharge for some unclear reason--and it doesn't even cover tips. This meant we effectively paid an additional 36% on our $150 bill! I feel bad for the servers, as this setup discourages customers from leaving a proper tip. Then as we argued they then said there is an "error" and then change the price to 41 with 18% mandetory tip that the server can't even give us the right dish. I went for the soft opening on Saturday at lunch. Pricing wise - it's Dinner prices on the weekend so $29.99, during the week at lunch it's only $19.99. Currently 10% for soft opening through the end of the month Menu is slightly smaller at lunch time. For their soft opening, having only been open less than 2 hours by the time we arrived, it was a great experience! The menu is vast, much bigger than all other AYCE sushi places we've been to in CT. There is a good selection of salads/soups, appetizers, sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, maki rolls, and specialty sushi rolls, plus they have some stir fry items as well - fried rice, hibachi and even some robata items. Considering it's ordering and not a traditional buffet, service is decent, maybe 10-15 for our first sushi order - we've been to other restaurants where it takes 30-40 minutes for our first order. This was not the case - again still soft opening so going through some growing pains but overall they were so nice and accommodating! Service will only get better with time as they find their groove. As for the food - I can't even tell you how good and fresh everything was. The quality of fish is top notch, the amount of fish to rice ratio is pretty amazing too. The appetizers and fried rice/hibachi we had were all piping hot and very tasty! We didn't have anything we didn't love and we absolutely will be back (probably as early as this weekend lol). So glad to have a high quality fresh AYCE sushi restaurant closer to us in Northern CT. However, they recently have chosen (not required, but their choice) to add junk fees to their charges. Sorry, but an "automatic" 18% fee for "administrative charges" is complete shenanigans. Build your expenses into your prices like everyone else does. Don't try to whack me with either a mandatory "tip" or portion to pay your water bill, health insurance, taxes, or whatever your latest affliction is. Those are operating expenses that should be built into your prices and advertised for transparency, and let the customers decide before they order. If your prices are too high and you lose customers or have to close, well, elections have consequences folks and nothing is "free" like you may have chosen to believe. Tips are based on service. If crappy service, expect crappy tip. Good service: good tip. I can see for large parties, but this was just me. Regardless it's my choice in the US. I was excited to finally find an all you can eat Sushi so I drove an hour and some change to try an all you can eat sushi, to be overly disappointed when we left. We had a party of two, and ordered two rounds of orders. Mind you it's an all you can eat, they made it very clear about food waste and no sharing at the table, therefore we made sure our selections were not wasted. When we received our last order/second order, we were told that "you're done," from the host and he just walked away. We were both confused about the situation since we sat down no more than 30 minutes and were cut off from ordering more after our second order. Most of the orders I had were just for me, not my husband. I was so mind blown about how we were cut off so we didn't dispute with the host. If you consider yourself an all you can eat, don't limit your guests unless they've been there for a long time wasting food. BEWARE OF CHARGING SCAM. We were charged the dinner rate instead of the lunch rate. Our bill was over $400 and when adjusted to the proper rate went down to $241. Everyone in our party was overcharged and had to return to the restaurant to have our bills adjusted. What if we hadn't noticed and returned for a refund??? A few other things to be aware of - very small portion sizes, slow service (after first order), must eat EVERYTHING on your plate to avoid incurring additional fees. There were no ginger slices or wasabi paste with the sushi which made a difference in taste or flavor. Overall food was okay. It was on the bland side. The restaurant was empty which is key because it's hard to understand why the service was so bad. Hostess checked in on us more than our waiter. When they brought food (emphasis on when) they stared at us and didn't say a word expecting us to grab it. Warm food was cold, portions were about a big as a handful of sand and some orders were just not given to us. And the cherry on top was when it was time to pay they told us they did not receive 6 payments from the 6 individual bills. They claimed had 5. Told us they already put the money in the register so they couldn't count it all up. No desire to check the camera above our table and held us hostage by not giving a member of our party his card back until someone gave them money. This place is great, i went yesterday for the first time and even though it was a little confusing how to order after figuring out it went smooth. The food came out fast and it was delicious. They were up front with us from the start about the price and the service fee, also about not wasting food because even though is not a buffet you can order as much as you want but they only ask from you not to over order and eat everything you order otherwise they will charge you the left over extra. Haya Sushi is an incredible place I would recommend to anyone in the Springfield area. I went to Haya on thursday afternoon, the restaurant was pretty empty (only two other groups there), so we were seated immediately. The resteraunt felt a little awkward - obviously the location is weird being between a family dollar and a smoke shop, but the place didn't feel totally welcoming. Our server did not really explain to us how the all you can eat system worked, which would've been nice. But once we put our order in, the experience was awesome. The food came fast, the presentation was excellent, and it was delicious. Maybe not the best sushi i've ever had, but definitely up there. And all for a 20$ lunch price tag - incredible! Happy to see a new AYCE in Springfield! I came in with a party of 13 people and honestly, the servers did a great job managing our table. There were some things we ordered that were miss but I'd say they got 90% of everything. They definitely have a decent amount of things to improve on but it's a soft opening so I'm keeping that into consideration with this rating! Good things: -Salmon sashimi (fresh and tasty!) -Crab Rangoon (sooooo good, I could eat like 5 of these) -Usumashi soup (I can't describe it but it was so good!!) -Fried Oreos (kinda hard to mess up but it hit the spot with the ice cream) -Udon noodles were so good, fresh! -Food came out very quickly!! Out of all the sushi/sashimi places I've tried in a 100 mile radius, I have to say this is my NUMBER ONE go to place, for now on, ever-since they have opened. Quality- Their sushi/sashimi quality is outstanding, never fishy, always tastes fresh, sashimi melts in your mouth, and temperature of the fish is perfect. Nothing in the area compares. Even if you don't eat raw sushi/sashimi, they have so many other opens of cooked foods. Tons of appetizer options, hot food options, and cooked sushi roll options. Everything from fried rice, teriyaki, hibachi, to takoyaki, grilled muscles, and calamari. The BEST part of this is, ITS ALL YOU CAN EAT FOR EVERYTHING. Deserts included! Price- For everything that you get, and being able to EAT ALL YOU WANT, what you get greatly surpasses what you pay. Lunch option is cheaper, but no sashimi. If you're not a big fan of sashimi, this is for you. Dinner option price isn't much more, but you have the option for sashimi and more appetizers. Even if you come for lunch (19.99$ a person), I've had no issue requesting the dinner menu ($29.99 a person). I've paid over 100$ at other local sushi spots for 2, without filling our cravings. But here, 70$ for two at dinner, I can eat till my hearts content. Service- Service here is always amazing, nothing I can complain about. Everyone is always welcoming, very helpful, and is always around if you need something. Can't ask for a better and loving environment here! My husband and I went here on opening day and were pleasantly surprised despite the craziness of opening day. The service was good; however, we also grabbed any server that was passing by us when we needed something so I think that made a difference. The food was tasty but there were several appetizers that came out cold, one of the gyoza was almost frozen in the middle and one of the crab rangoon was cold but there was one extremely hot spot that burnt my lip which was naturally unexpected because the rest of the it was cold. I think if the management works on addressing the below items, this place will be successful. - Appetizers need to be cooked longer and brought to the tables hot - Checklist of menu items so customers can select what they want and how many of each item. This will climate a lot of the confusion we witnessed and/or the wrong foods being brought to tables.
