This is a small yet comfortable restaurant. It has a modern sports bar vibes. What they lack in size they make up in quality. I was immediately greeted with such genuine hospitality. Sitting at the Sushi bar there was never delay in service regarding our orders. The spring rolls were light and crispy. Itamae John made the most beautifully displayed sushi rolls with flavors to match. We ordered the Volcano roll, Fire roll & Crunchy Spicy Tuna roll. The Volcano roll was savory, the crunchy spicy tuna roll was above par and I would definitely recommend the Fire roll! Neighborhood gem! Went in solo for dinner. Sat at the bar. Everything was great! Best sushi I've had in some time- maybe ever? Steered towards the otoro roll, which was fantastic, also got a spicy yellowtail roll that did not disappoint. Met the owners, John and Sonia, who were incredibly nice. I've been to Sushi Time 2-3 times and had good experiences. Food was good, a few saki choices, nice appearance. Tonight 9/4 we were seated right away and that was the end of the service. Wife and I sat waiting for a server to come by, perhaps check for drink orders or bring water? Nope? Watched 2 female servers camped out in a corner, chatting, looking at their phones. It actually got to the point of absurdity so we just gave up and walked out. Never did that before, too bad. I've had sushi lots of places and if you go to Sushi Time on a quiet afternoon and sit at the bar, ask what's good and let the chef guide you and share a bottle of saki--it's a delightful experience that can compete with the best. John & Sonia host you in a beautiful meal. Service can be spotty when they are busy in the evenings when they are stretched with wait staff but they are actively trying to hire help. Their hibachi menu also has solid options for your non-fish eating party members with attention to small details of your hospitality experience. They source Chu-toro and fresh uni. Formerly The Kitchen, Sushi Time opened recently in Longmeadow, across the street to the south from Big Y. This casual Japanese restaurant offers full service dining and takeout. The place is cozy with booths along the wall, tables, high top tables and seating at the sushi bar. Sort of reminds me of another cozy strip plaza Japanese restaurant & sushi bar back in Londonderry NH. They offer sushi rolls, sashimi, no rice rolls, hibachi & teriyaki dishes, noodles, Japanese, fried rice, soups, salads and lunch specials. The prices are moderate here. I ordered takeout from Sushi Time in Longmeadow recently, ordering the Chicken Soba Noodles ($16 plus tax), which would be ready in 15-20 minutes. I went over to Big Y and came back when my order was all set. The soba dish in a plastic container had a mix of boneless chicken pieces, cabbage, onions, carrots, sesame seeds, oil and soft thin noodles. The dish was very hot and other than the chicken was on the chewy side, the flavors were good. I plan to stop by again for dine-in service during lunch hours so I could order one of their teriyaki or sushi lunch specials. read more

Finally a solid sushi spot on the Pioneer Valley! The rolls are fresh, clean-tasting, and mildly seasoned for more opportunity to taste the ingredients. To that end, the soy sauce is low sodium and the special rolls don't seem to be heavy on saucy drizzle. We ordered the fancy roll, blue crab roll, shrimp and mango roll, and a shiitake mushroom roll. The blue crab roll was probably our favorite! I did noticed that the shrimp tempura in the fancy roll was on the tough side. A surprising number of the special rolls (12/28) are shrimp based which is fine, but it'd be nice to see more variety. The other area where the quality could be elevated was the rice. Personally I would like to see larger, more fragrant grains with a bit more chewiness. Definitely pleased to have this spot within a 30 minute drive and am looking forward to trying more of the menu! read more

This was our first visit, the place had a nice ambiance and we were seated in a comfortable booth. I was a little anxious because my wife is not a big sushi fan, but the menu had quite a few appetizers and plenty of Japanese entrees with a sushi and cocktail bar. We started with the pan fried Gyoza, delivered hot with a nice crisp and dipping sauce. Next we ordered the Spicy Tuna Pizza, which was garnished with a mound of finely shredded crispy spinach wontons, incredible. Then together we had Popcorn Shrimp, Tempura Vegetables, and Japanese Chicken Fried Rice. Everything was excellent and our waitress was spot on. Wow, wow, wow!!! The sushi is amazing at this new Japanese restaurant. They offer a wide range of creative and standard rolls. However, where they really shine is their execution of individual pieces of sushi. If you're a big roe fan, they do it right with the salmon roe. The waitstaff was friendly, but overworked on the night we dined. Our server did not revisit our table during the 45 minutes to fulfill our order. She did not return after serving us for another 45 minutes. The interior is small and somewhat cramped. If there are only two of you, I'd recommend sitting at the sushi bar. I'm sure they will iron out the service issues as they gain more experience. Check them out. The food is really, really good. Be forewarned, the service was slow and inattentive. read more

OMG - we have found our go-to spot for sushi! We moved here from the west coast 2.5 years ago and have been looking ever since. The sushi is so fresh and beautifully presented by Master Sushi Chef, John and his team. Sonia, the restaurant manager, and he do a spectacular job of welcoming customers to the new establishment. We gave only 4 stars for service because our young waiter forgot to ask us about soup or salad, and those starter dishes were a bit slow to come out. That said, Sonia and John were quick to correct him, clearly training him for better service in the future.
