The husband and wife team are really trying to make a name for themselves by cooking what I describe as home cooked comfort food. After, our first 2 encounters with them we started following them on social media. There handle is @vagabondchefssd on IG. As of now we have tried nearly everything in their menu from plain tater tots to fully loaded tater tots (sometimes with chili, sometimes with elote...), we've also had various hot dogs (pastrami and sauerkraut hot dog) and just recently tried their new items sliders (pulled pork and the other being a veggie sliders)...we've also purchased their homemade pickles which are tasty by themselves or added to a burger or slider. The husband and wife team are fun people...really nice to have gotten to know them on a more personal level. We highly recommend giving them a try at one of the local north county SD breweries they pop up at! Enjoy our pictures off there mouth watering food!

They've been going to a lot of breweries lately so feature a beer brat dog with mustard and sourkrout that's been braised in a selection from that venu's home brews! And of course have some of the classics as well!

Service was efficient and the food came out quickly even with our large party. Everything we ordered was delicious. The XLB soup dumplings were juicy and flavorful, the pan fried buns had a perfectly crispy bottom, and the green onion chicken noodles were fresh and comforting. The spicy mixed chicken had great flavor with just the right amount of heat. Overall the food tasted fresh, authentic, and well executed. It is not always easy for restaurants to handle a large group with kids, but they made it seamless. Great food and great service. We will definitely be back.

We started with the spicy pot, which came out bubbling hot and packed with ingredients. It had a nice kick without being overwhelming, and the flavors were rich and savory. It had a strong cumin flavor, which makes this dish pretty authentic. Get this dish with rice, the sauces goes well with it. The soup noodles with fried pork were super comforting. The broth was light but flavorful, and the fried pork added a really nice crispy texture that balanced well with the noodles. My nephew likes noodles but without alot of flavor so this dish was perfect for him. The fried dumplings were crispy on the bottom with juicy filling inside--exactly what you want. We also got the steamed chicken with chili oil, which was tender and coated in that classic fragrant, slightly spicy chili oil that adds so much flavor without being too heavy. The green onion pancake was another favorite--crispy, flaky, and airy. It tasted freshly made.

The beer and drink selection alone is worth the visit--tons of options whether you're keeping it casual or trying something new. Food-wise... the Bacon Mac N Cheese was next level. Rich, flavorful, and exactly what you want it to be. My buddy (who was literally about to move out of town) went with the burger--and let's just say he picked the right "last meal" in Oceanside. What really stood out though was the service. Top of the line from start to finish. Big shoutout to Mitch--young guy, super personable, clearly takes pride in what he does. He was everywhere in the best way, checking in on tables, making people feel taken care of. Honestly, the way he moves, he should be serving--he's got that natural touch. Great food, great drinks, great people. One of those nights that just hits right. I'll definitely be back.

We moved chairs around and grabbed blankets and got it worked out without any help from staff. Porkbelly appetizer was overcooked and lacked anything special that made it memorable. The pork chop was also overcooked and the grits were very thick.. cheesy but not creamy. The short ribs were dry.... Strange for braised meat and not enough sauce. The sauce was really good as were the mashed potatoes and carrots. The burger was excellent. Really juicy with a great bun. The atmosphere is very cool and inviting. I would return for burgers and to try the fried chicken. It looked awesome coming out of the kitchen. The burger was excellent.
