Day 2 Follow up: got home from work early and really had a chance to inspect the lining. When I did I found at least a half dozen other areas where the paint was visible. Bedliners aren't just for looks, they're to protect the truck bed. Josh told me his product was thicker than the competition. With that in mind I'm thinking if I can see the paint there's not a whole lot of protection there. While I should return to HSL and have them redo the entire bed, frankly I don't trust them at this point (they also scratched my trim). I went there because of the good reviews. Maybe that was when they were in their old location, different equipment, material, staff, IDK? What I do know is I'm going to need to have the bed redone. My bad for not taking the dealers recommendation. Don't make the same mistake I did. At least not with your new car! You will not be happy. read more

I recently bought a used 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport 4x4. It was in really good condition with only 17,000 miles driven. Although the truck came with an OEM bed mat, the bed was not lined. Wanted to line my brand new 2020 Chevy Colorado and called their owner who told me about their May promo for 2 free extra coatings with purchase. Shoots! The shop is buried in with other businesses and little tricky to find if you're using GPS (Good Podagee Soup) but luckily the directional radar from being a pizza delivery guy in college fine tuned my try fo find settings. When I parked and before I could turn off the engine in my car, a shop worker was already coming out the door to greet me. Went through a quick briefing of options and in my truck went. Their waiting room doesn't have cable set up but was still equipped with a television and literally a giant shelf of DVDs to keep you entertained while you wait. WARNING: Don't use Hawaii Spray Lining! He ruined my truck! Hawaii Spray Lining had many good reviews and a professional website saying they were located in Kapolei. Very nice facility. When I called, the owner Josh Kennedy, sounded very knowledgeable and professional. He said they moved locations to Kalihi and I scheduled an appointment to line my truck bed. When I showed at the address at 9 it was a ramshackle building located on Silva Alley. Sign was falling down. Josh showed up to open the business for my appointment. Ten minutes later another guy showed up in a new Ford Maverick EV. Both of us were scheduled at the same time. During our conversation going over the job, he kept qualifying the quality of his work. Pointing out and talking a lot about the truck paint. It is an older truck with cheap paint job. I should have been suspicious but I said, "Your the professional. I want a professional job." And left for the four hours the job would take. Josh called me at 12:45 to say the truck was ready. I was back at the site at 1:30. Josh and his helper were pulling out the Maverick and going over the job with the owner. My truck was still in the back and taped off. After finishing with the other truck, Josh came over to me and said, "we had some small problems with your truck and aren't quite done yet". He took me to the back to show me. Immediately apparent were multiple bubbles and non adhered spots. Also a lot of large clumpy overspray spots on the bed rails and back of cab. Josh explained that the original paint was bad and his product reacted poorly to it. He said to mitigate the damage he sprayed more over the top of the bubbles. WHAT!? He also blamed the overspray on the shape of the bed rails and the difficulty taping them off. Then he showed me my door. Oh man, the door. It was shot all over with overspray. Like all over, thick patches, little dots and a big swirl where he tried to wipe it off. He apologized and said the gun sprays at such high pressure it blew off the tape off job. Then said because my paint is so thin he couldn't get it off without peeling off the body paint. After calmly acknowledging that mistakes happen, I asked what he could do to mitigate the situation. Josh said he would contact an auto body shop and have my paint repaired but that even if he tried to repair the bed he couldn't guarantee it. He said the stuff was tough and shouldn't tear. He also said the non adhered bubbles shouldn't spread beyond what was already apparent. After agreeing to keep in touch to schedule the repairs, I paid half to get my keys and out of his shop. He wanted full price! I had to negotiate. Getting home, I inspected the truck closely and noticed the bubbles were already growing. I emailed Josh that I was disappointed in his service and to please confirm the auto body appointment ASAP. He responded to me by text the next day with a long explanation of paint chemistry and excuses and no he hadn't scheduled with the auto body guy yet. I immediately cancelled my check and emailed him the reasons why. He again texted a long excuse and no remedy plan. I went to Pamalu Bedliner across the highway to get a second opinion. John Michael and his assistant were extremely helpful and compassionate for my ruined truck. They said they were doing a lot of repairs lately coming from HSL and Josh. He explained to me that older trucks require a lot more prep work and paint stripping to properly adhere. He said from the looks it didn't seem like any prep work was done at all. John Michael also quoted me a more than reasonable price to fix the bed liner and guarantee it. I will be using them and suggest that all you who have stayed with this saga to do the same. I spent a lot of time (months) and money (thousands) to import my own cute custom color Kei truck and Josh ruined it in one morning and wasn't even professional enough to own up to it. read more

Called Josh on a Saturday for a bed lining quote and they easily had the best rate after calling around to a few places. They also were able to schedule us for the next day which was great because we wanted to have that extra protection on our truck bed asap. Location is in Kalihi but not too deep and it was easy to get to. It does take a while though, as could be expected. The spray looks very good, their warranty covers any defects or bubbling etc so that was also a reason for going with them. No complaints on the lining. I'm taking off one star just because the estimated time was 2-3 hours but it took roughly 3.5 hours, plus another 15 minutes to pay and leave. This really wouldn't have been a big deal but I had to push back appointments due to not being done in the 3 hours I was anticipating. Josh did communicate to us that they were going to be a little over, which I did appreciate. Very happy with the bed lining and definitely recommend this place! read more

We had my husband's brand truck sprayed in April 2014. We were happy with how it held up over the years that we knew when it time to spray the entire truck that we would come back. Fast forward 3 years later and numerous scratches including a huge scratch my husband despised and a dent. It was time to get the entire truck sprayed. It took 3 full days. I must say it looks better than I expected. It's rugged looking and it just looks good. We are very happy with the final outcome.
