I have to reorder and eat late. Tuesday: Order charcuterie plate, chicken and dumplings, and bbq shrimp. Again, driver gets there in 30 minutes, calls me to say they don't have chicken and dumplings. I say I'll do gumbo instead, problem solved. At this point the say they are out of charcuterie too, again. Now other nice restaurants that have charcuterie are closed, and I have my night ruined again by settling and eating at 9:30 if I'm lucky. Charcuterie is the last think you should be out of! Walk over to Savi Market. Have someone drive to spotted trotter. Go buy some prosciutto ANYWHERE. Absolutely ridiculous. The audacity to not update your menu, and waste a customers time, your staff, and the delivery driver. If you don't have it, you see the order come in, cancel it before you make a driver drive across town, and a customer ruin dinner plans. Shame. We tried out Haven for dinner for the first time after passing it on the street several times. I definitely recommend making a reservation well in advance. When we arrived the valet parking was great and we were seated right away. Our waiter, Will, was absolutely excellent. All service throughout the night was 10/10. All of our food including salads were served at exactly the same time which I love. Service was attentive and not rushed. Between the four of us we had the potato hay, grilled Cesar salad, scallops, halibut, and pork chops. All of the food was very good. My wife and I both had cocktails, the sangria was just okay but the peach tree was amazing. My wife wanted to make a small customization to her entree and they did so happily. My only complaint about the evening was the restaurant was very loud and it was a bit hard to hear each other inside. It may be better if you sit outside but they didn't have any tables available. This place was a pleasant surprise. It's a small restaurant with an open kitchen and a bar. The GPS will take you to what it looks like the main entrance to the restaurant, but it's actually the back, if you go to the right place they have their own parking lot. The waiter was very friendly and explain everything in detail. Tonight we had the usual drinks apple martini and virgin mojito. For appetizers we were amazed with the special of the night pork belly with a peanut butter sauce and beef tartare. The entrees were ricotta tortellini and the beef tenderloin... we can spend hours trying to decide which one was better, both of them were amazing full of flavor!!! It was a rainy Sunday afternoon. After sleeping in late (super late..it was already afternoon!) we were ready to chow down on some serious brunch. It took some convincing to get me out of the house in this weather, but I finally agreed. :) By the time we were ready to roll it was almost 2 pm. This is sometimes a gray area for brunch since some places are winding down at this time. When I saw that Haven serves brunch until 2:30 pm, I quickly gave them a call to make sure 2:15 wouldn't be too late to be seated. I never want to annoy the waitstaff by coming in just when the restaurant is trying to wrap things up!! The hostess was extremely nice and accommodating, and told me that they would be happy to seat us at 2:15 since the kitchen does not close until 2:30. So off we went! We found convenient parking located in back of the restaurant and our car was parked right in front. We didn't even need to use our umbrella! The ambiance is quite cozy with a sophisticated yet warm atmosphere that is complemented by dim lighting. This place is perfect for a romantic date. And then I saw it...just when I was contemplating several different menu options...destiny intervened and I saw the glorious chicken sandwich. It wasn't what I had in mind for brunch but it looked absolutely scrumptious! One look and I was under its spell. I've always been powerless in the face of a good fried chicken sandwich, and this behemoth was a thing of beauty. It was a huge chicken breast that was juicy on the inside and amazingly crunchy and flavorful on the outside. The bread was toasted to perfection. It came with a side of house made chips that were also quite good. Yummm! This thing rivals any chicken sandwich in the city. In fact, I'm having withdrawal cravings just thinking about it! My wife got the bagel and smoked salmon that was also quite good. It was accompanied by marinated cucumbers and tomatoes. Other notable options include Eggs Benedict, Sunday Hash made from house made corned beef (ummm.....corned beef), crab cakes, and shrimp and grits. The Beignets looked phenomenal but we weren't in the mood for something sweet. The hero of the day was David "Shag". After we were seated, nobody noticed us until David stepped up and asked if anyone had waited on us. He wasn't our server but took our drink orders and made sure we were well taken care of even after he got us set up with a server. He even stopped by several times just to check in on us. We were initially told that they were out of bagels but he personally double checked with the kitchen and managed to find us the last bagel. He's very personable and knows how to take charge. Very nice atmosphere with a nice open bar and kitchen area. The food and service was very good too. It was odd that the bar did not offer any signature drinks. They didn't even have a menu with cocktail specialties. They did, however, have a full bar and offered to make anything we wanted. We decided on a margarita and red and white wine. Just made it easier. As for the food, we started off with their signature Haven potato hay, which were teeny tiny potato sticks with truffle oil, garlic and parsley. Reminded me of pik sticks. They were very tasty. We also shared the mussels. This was very good! Loved the flavor of the sauce, a very smokey tomato, chipotle based broth, which tasted great when soaked up by the grilled sourdough. Our main entrees consisted of Angus Beef Tenderloin with potato gratin, garlic spinach, and Bernaise and Florida Black Grouper with chickpeas, English peas, glazed carrots, and herb-pine nut relish. The steak was prepared to our liking: rare plus and medium rare. Seasoned just right as well and very tasty. The grouper was just ok. Not much flavor, but that may be the fish itself. The English peas were good, however, the garbanzo beans were under cooked, and the herb pine nut relish lacked a bit of flavor. We ended the meal with two desserts: Strawberry Rhubarb cobbler and Smores Pie. Both were very good! read more

My girlfriends took me out to dinner for my birthday last night and had a wonderful time at Haven. Love the outside seating area with all the strung lights. The interior is nice too. Some of us were obsessing over the wall of wines and the ladder/staircase. It was neat to see one do the servers using the ladder to go up and get a bottle of wine. Practical and stylish! Our server, Gordon, was really great! He was patient, professional, accommodating, and helpful. We ordered a handful of appetizers and enjoyed them all. My favorites were probably the tartare which was beautifully plated, the fried oyster, and the mussels with the aromatic liquid base. Yum. Oh wait! That was most of the apps. Lol. I especially loved how they had a couple of options (scallops, gumbo, and tortellini) that you could get half half orders. For someone like myself that has a very difficult time choosing or narrowing down from deliciously descriptive entree options loved that I could choose two out of those three for my entree. I decided on the scallops and tortellini. I was very impressed with the portion on both of my half options. They came in two plates and they were each beautifully and meticulously plated. Scallops were cooked to perfection and the tortellini little purses were also beautifully made. They were generous with the filling portion too. Now onto desserts. We ordered several and they were all good. My favorite was the one filled with fruit. Yum! I also really appreciated that the Haven staff were all friendly and not pretentious. They also let us hang out for awhile as were there near closing time and we didn't feel unwelcome or rushed. OMG!!! This restaurant is amazing with exceptional service, great ambience and incredible food! My server, Austin, was the absolute best! If you drink wine, I strongly recommend that you dine on a Sunday when bottles are half off! We ordered the bacon wrapped trout - tender, flaky and moist. We also ordered the bone in ribeye - flavorful, tender and cooked perfectly. We also had a bottle of Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon - amazing! The worst salmon I've ever had anywhere. Really dry and bland, and the vegetables they have with it don't complement it at all. Plus, every coke I've tried there is flat. With the weather warming up, sitting outside in their patio will be the best way to kickstart your weekend. As we perused our menu, we also peeped at what others were having. (not eerie, you do too....LOL). EVERYTHING around us looked very good. We were having a hard time to decide Our server was prompt and was patient with us as we couldn't decide. He came back a second time and explained to us our dish. We were served coffee and milk. The coffee was fragrant but I would like it to be stronger - no matter, we still have good couple of cups. Breakfast for me was the omelette, as I didn't want the potato side, our server gave me 2 servings of fruits. Yum! The omelette was light, fluffy and filled with yummy goodness of ricotta, mushrooms and spinach. Breakfast for a champion. I would've ordered the biegnet if I could have carbs. Such a fun menu and the food is amazing. We had the grit fritters with pepper jelly and the disco fries, basically a southern take on poutine and both were delicious. We also got the big nasty and French toast but were too excited to dig in and didn't get a picture of either but they were great as well. A nice bonus is that there's a dog friendly indoor patio. He was professional but casual, attentive but not smothering, personable but not overbearing, he was "just right". He could teach how to deliver service. We were in the area and Yelp recommended this place. My wife and I walked in without reservation but got seated in 10minutes. The receptionist led us to a booth that is good for 4 people which I think is quite generous. The brunch menu is simple but covers most of the common brunch items like Shrimp and Grits, Crab Cake, French Toast, and the Eggs Benedict, with reasonable prices comparing to some brunch places in Buckhead. The Eggs Benedict is amazing with the sauteed spinach. The $13 Crab cake plus arugola and strawberry is one of the best we ever tasted. The crab meat is very fresh and sweet. The only thing I don't appreciate is the water glasses are not clean. Two out of four of them have stain on them. But hey just swapped them out and we were good. Classy brookhaven keeps expanding and adding classy restaurants! Chef Justin White kept hearing about this restaurant so it has been on his list for a while. Fellow yelper and friend Kate and another friend Raha, him, and I came on a Tuesday night. We found out that they have burger specials on Tuesdays and they have a $15 deal of Burger and Fries that come with your choice of a glass of wine. You can't substitute anything and it comes as is, but it's a great deal and it tasted awesome! A little tip is to request horseradish aioli sauce for your fries. It tastes great and doesn't have too much of a kick. They don't have ranch there. My friend got the pork chop and it looked great and I heard it tasted great too. They're known for their bacon-wrapped trout and lamb shank. They have complimentary valet parking, but you can also park on the street. Service was awesome too! read more

If I were told I can eat out only one meal per week, without hesitation I would choose brunch. That's how much I like a relaxed and simple brunch, with my partner or my friends. And I don't know about others, but I especially like to go to brunch at restaurants that would be very expensive for dinner($25 to $35 per entree) but quite cheaper for brunch(I mean, chicken eggs are never that expensive). It helps me to taste premium food and experience nice ambiance without paying premium price. But that's just me. Any way, Haven is one such place - they have pricey dinner menu and relatively inexpensive lunch and brunch menu. So four of us went for brunch at this place on Sunday at 12.30 pm. Haven is located on the Dresden drive, which is becoming destination for more and more restaurants lately. When you are driving from peachtree, the restaurant building will be on right. The restaurant itself is in the back side of the building and will be the last one. There are decent number of parking spots, but it can get filled up. And there are street parking as well. They also have nice outdoor garden seating, if you are into that. After about 20 minutes of wait, which is normal on Sunday at any brunch places these days, we were seated. The menu is very simple with few snacks, about 12 entrees, few sides and of course drinks like mimosas and bloody mary. We ordered, 1) Beignets 2) The dresden Omelette 3) The Dresden Frittata 4) Customized Sunday hash without meat. 5) Bloody mary Beignets was served warm, freshly fried and dusted with the powedered sugar. While it's definitely at the league of Cafe du Monde, it held its own and we all liked it. I can't think of a better way to start a Sunday meal, a definite reorder. Both the Dresden omelette and frittata was served with roasted potatoes. We liked frittata much better than the omelette - it had more body and more flavorful. And potatoes were crispy outside and soft inside as it should be. The customized vegetarian hash has turned out good too. My vegetarian friend asked for hash without meat, the waiter suggested that she could ask chef to make with some mushrooms and sunny side up eggs. The hash that came to our table was so delicious and flavorful. We couldn't care less for the bloody mary - I simply have had better version in so many different places and even in flights. I visited Haven with a few friends on a Sunday afternoon after a long morning run. It was a last minute decision to go to brunch so we made a quick reservation on Open Table, no problem! When we arrived it took us a couple laps to find parking. There is a parking lot in the back but it was full so we had to find some street parking. It didn't take long to find a spot after a little searching. The restaurant itself is a good size but it feels small because it is so cramped and crowded. We ordered drinks, one mimosa, one Irish coffee and one black coffee. The mimosa had a good ratio of champagne to orange juice and the Irish coffee was very well made. I ordered the eggs benedict and my friends ordered the steak and eggs and the Sunday hash. The food was all good, not something that I would come running back for, but good. The portions were also a tad small, I was happy with mine but neither of my friends felt satisfied. I've been going to Haven since it opened. It is always consistently good and was one of the first restaurants we visited during Covid. I just wanted to give them a shout out tonight. They had some new dishes on the menu that wowed us. The chicken liver pâté was Michelin star fantastic. Honestly better than the best I've ever had at Balthazar NYC. I truly can't find anything wrong with Haven. Our dining experience here was pretty flawless start to finish. I beat my mom there and had a drink at the bar. Ordered a Merlot, big mistake as I REALLY shouldn't experiment when it comes to wine, hated it. Sweet bartender let me exchange it which I was appreciative of. We were sat around 8, and considering we had 7:15 reservation time I thought it was nice they let us ease ourselves into our meal. I talk to my mom pretty much constantly but when we do dinner it's like it's been ages since we spoke. Lots of chatter and laughter. Our waiter was just wonderful, and we took all of his suggestions the whole evening. He was spot on with the andouille quail appetizer. It came out in a little black cast iron skillet type thing and it had really great flavor. I've never eaten quail so I didn't know what to expect. The little bones in it were different but it the part I recall best is the fall-off-the-bone tenderness and possibly the best quality preparation I've ever had the pleasure of coming across. Oh we also ordered a bottle of wine-by suggestion- as the "Cab lovers" merlot. The word Merlot freaks me out but it was really truly delicious wine. Full of body like I like, and extremely dry like mama likes it. Just great really! I'm so happy for the suggestion!! For dinner my mom had the scallops which were perfectly cooked and tasty (her favorite on the menu). They were a little under seasoned for my taste but they have that true melt in your mouth scallop flavor. The way they are supposed to taste! I ended up with a couple on my plate :) I however ordered the grouper with sliced brussel sprouts and a cauliflower purée that looked like gravy and tasted like I have no idea what but it was awesome! The fish was cooked perfectly and it was seasoned just right for grouper. I had to box it up the portion is pretty generous.. For dessert we ordered a Sticky Toffee Pudding with coffee ice cream (BEST PART) as well as the Banana Pudding. I visit Haven about 4 times a year. Usually very good food and service. Atmosphere is casual and the place is always crowded. Brunch today was good. The biscuits and sausage gravy were delicious but don't bother ordering the beignets. Not like N'awlins at all. I had the crab cake. It was good, lots of crab but not a lot of flavor. Friend ate the Egg and Crab, and it was overly salty, and he did not care for it, and VERY fishy in taste. The beignets were originally, really tasty, but then while eating them, it seemed they were fried in oil that was used for onion rings, or something else. I I tried and tried to order the $35 3 course meal and when I finally called, I was told the are not doing on line ordering but to call back about 30 minutes before I wanted to pick it up. I called back before dinner and was then told they are not doing the $35 special even though it was still listed on line. I ordered the same meal anyway just to make it easy and the total came to $140 (without tip). Way more than I expected to pay but realize that it had been my choice to order it. My only complaint about this place is the parking. Valet parking is available but since the area is small there could be a wait to drop/pickup your car.
