Me and my wife went to Confab for a close friend's birthday. There were about 15ish of us. I had never heard of Confab before, but it looked pretty good based on the menu I looked at online ahead of time. Me and my wife started with a cocktail. She got the Pear Pressure and I got the tequila mockingbird (I actually ended up getting two of these, because it was so good.) We shared the ham croquettes to start. They were really good! Nice and crispy on the outside, hot and steamy on the inside. Came with this really good smoked pepper aioli. I got the fish and chips for my main and my wife got the agnolotti. We also shared some brussels sprouts. My fish and chips were sooo good. The cod was nice and flaky and hot. The fries were crispy too! I tried my wife's agnolotti, and it was really good too! It was a pretty small amount though. The brussels were average, nothing too special. But the icing on the cake (no pun intended)...was the frozen espresso martini. I saw that they served these, and I knew I wanted to try one. It was a Wednesday and I had work the next day, but I knew I couldn't pass it up. It was soooooo good. It was a good slushy consistency, it wasn't just watered down. In the picture, you can tell how slushy it looked. If you go, please get one of these, you won't be dissapointed! Our server was GREAT too! Her name was Hana I believe. She was attentive and did a great job at our huge party. Kudos to her! Really good brunch here! Thank goodness because Brookhaven needs it. I came in and sat at the beautiful and large bar, where they have several tv's for your viewing pleasure. I went with a basic scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, breakfast potatoes, and gouda grits. I also had a pineapple mimosa on the side. Sheesh!! What a delicious breakfast. The chicken sausage was links and it was moist and had a great bite. The grits were the real stand out here, I can't wait to try those again! The bartender/server was phenomenal and did a great job checking in with me but giving me space as well. They had a lot of seating, indoor and outdoor. They also have like a walk-up bar. We stopped in for Sunday brunch with friends before heading back to SC, and it was a great way to end the weekend. I had the braised beef sandwich with pommes frites and a side of Gouda grits, and every bite was excellent. The sandwich was tender and full of flavor, the frites were perfectly crisp, and the Gouda grits were rich and satisfying. Even my wife, who doesn't like grits, liked them enough to almost order her own side. The service was friendly and attentive throughout. Go hungry if you want to enjoy this meal! WOW, I could not believe the portions and flavor packed into this meal. Our girls had the best time at Confab. Hannah was an amazing server and recommended all the things for us to try. Our friend, Sara, is a regular so they knew just what she wanted. The cheese curds are like the ones you would get at the fair and I am not mad about it! It's almost like a light tempura batter with a very unique dipping ketchup. To me, they were perfect on their own. No ketchup needed. Because, of course I wanted just about everything on the menu I had to settle for just a few items to split with my girls. The fried chicken biscuit is a monster. The biscuit is obviously homemade and the chicken was crispy and flavorful. We also tried the lobster roll, which a lighter option but also very good. Pomme Frites for the win! They come in a cute little basket and have just the right amount of salt on them. I almost forgot My cocktail! Jessica, our server, was a standout, attentive and knowledgeable. The new outdoor TVs at the bar are a game changer, and Sunday Ticket for football fans is a great touch. The area of opportunity is still kitchen ops & execution of dishes... Food: * Tuna tostadas: Loved these! Well-balanced, good quality tuna, maybe slightly heavy on the mayo. Two chips were a bit stale, but still fantastic overall. * Grouper bites: Perfect * Steak tartare: Delicious. Hand made potato chips were also excellent. * Octopus: Cook was a touch off - slightly gummy outside; would shine with a quick char or crisp finish. Sauce seemed like it had been sitting, but flavors were still good * Broccolini: Absolutely craveable! perfectly charred with crunchy topping. Romanesco sauce is a winner! * Grouper: Subbed grits for root veggies due to diary allergy. Initially served undercooked but kitchen quickly fixed it. We had a great experience at this establishment. Glad I found them in the local paper! The whole experience was amazing. We went to brunch and tried the Scottish quail eggs and cheese curds as appetizers. Amazing start to the meal. My sweetheart drank a Pear Pressure and liked it very much. Entrees were the wagyu burger and veggie crepe, with added scrambled eggs and chicken sausage. We loved both of them. I'm not a vegetarian but that crepe with the basil cream sauce was special. Very disappointed with the service today. I'm a neighbor and I enjoy coming here, especially the outdoor bar. I've enjoyed that area even when the place was almost empty. Today, I asked the host about the outdoor bar, and when she saw me sitting there waiting, she walked away without explaining anything. I had to ask again, only to be told the windows "only open when it's busy." How is it supposed to get busy if customers can't enjoy the space? That excuse made no sense, and I felt completely ignored. Customer service matters, even when it's only one customer. read more

Met up with friends here this past weekend. Ordered the steak frites. Frankly was worst steak frites I've had. Covered in a sauce and was not cooked to temp that I wanted, medium. The steak came out darn near rare. Let the bartender know and they took it back. They proceed to ask me if I want another steak or if they can essentially cook my steak again. I mentioned to just cook the original to medium. My friend also ordered the same yet his was near rare and he left more than half his steak on the plate. Had a few drinks that were average as well. Loving Lagarde as much as I do, had to check this spot out once I heard the old manager was the owner. Visited for brunch and really enjoyed the Biscuits and gravy. Lobster roll had good flavor. Decent amount of lobster. Chicken thigh roulade - chicken was good, dirty rice had organ meat (liver?) mixed in that was not listed on menu. We just came home from having an amazing brunch at Confab. The Gouda grits and crispy potatoes were fab. Doug, the manager, talked with us for quite a while. He was at kaleidoscope and La guard before opening his new restaurant. The service was great. Confab gave a great happy hour and dining experience for our entire family. Atmosphere and decor is welcoming and friendly. The menu is varied and provides something for everyone. The cocktails and appetizers are tasty and aesthetically pleasing! Our server, Hannah, was top notch. She was friendly and always timely with a refill and in getting our food out. We were a large family group and tried almost everything on the appetizer, sandwich and dining menu. No complaints from any age group. Apps are large enough to share and we did. Can't wait to go back! The steamed mussels on the app menu is a particular favorite for me, but all the other apps were also delicious. By far one of the best places, I have visited. The atmospheres was nice, not to loud, not to dull but just the right level. The food was great, my wife and I shared an order of the Pomme Frites. I should say She had them as she only let me have 2 bites. I ordered the Pork Chop which was cooked to perfection, nice and juicy while my wife ordered the Chicken Thigh. Again both were amazing. Our server Jessica went above and beyond also, making sure our drinks were never empty, making great suggestions and showing care for our visit and experience. 10/10 would recommend.
